If you buy an iphone 4 from a carrier such as 02 (instead of buying one from apple) is it locked to that network forever or can it be unlocked and network changed at a later date?

How do you guys insure your iPhones? do you take the insurance offered by the carriers or is that a rip off - do home insurance policies generally cover things like iPhones when you're on the move? thanks

I'm lookin to get AppleCare £60 for two years cover by apple, not in a position to get insurance off bank plus I hate that subsidy fee

I got a free O2 microsim intended for use with an iPad (which i never got in the end). If what I've understood is correct, I can have O2 port my phone number and contract details onto this microsim?

According to Sanketa at O2 Customer Service, you can, yes.

Not sure if it's true though!

In my experience they do not, but check with your insurer to see if they do.

On another tack, the news of Apple selling 600,000 iPhones through pre order on day one has to be good news. There's no way that many were sold on the first day of iPad reorders, which would suggest that we will not be at the mercy of supply shortages - at least not to the degree that we were a few weeks ago! :)

Urgh this is crazy. Was going to move to orange but i think ill stay with o2.

Im waiting on a new o2 payg simplicity sim coming through. Thinking about just using the £15 unlimted txt/web+100 mins tariff. Does anyone know if they let u keep the £15 or if they take it out? If they let you keep it ill just go for the £10 unlimited text/web tariff. Then on launch day ill cut it up to fit in the iphone 4. Will the unlimited web part of simplicity work on the iphone? And when i put the sim in will i have to top it up again to use in the iphone?

If I've reserved my iPhone 4 in store, will I be guaranteed one provided I go there before closing time on the 24th? Thanks.

I have had O2 insurance @ £7.50/month since the original iPhone launch.
However I am going to cancel (even if I stay with O2) and take out the one with my bank. It's only 45p a month more and gives me phone insurance, AA breakdown cover and European travel insurance as well. A much better deal I think.

What's the likely chance of turning up to the store on the day and buying an iPhone with cash and getting one?

Just called o2business as I have 5 phones they said not sending the sims out till 24th asked why it says on there website if you have the sim you can transfer the number over she did not know looks like cutting my old sim for me:)

Might do that myself... will the simplicity sim you ordered be a micro sim?

Has anyone thought about protection for iPhone 4. All well and good the glass is tougher but i've always used Power Supports film and they've served me well. Surprised they haven't announced anything for iPhone 4.

I don't want to use Invisible Shield because...well they suck...IMHO

So are you lot buying cases or other protectors or just going naked and trusting Steve's claims.? Also will the old Power Support films fit on the new phone?

Bumpers dont count

just called orange and they are shipping me the micro-sim with adapter, and they said it will arrive before the iphone :)
