With all the posts saying how difficult if not impossible it will be for those in mid contract to get their number transferred onto the micro sim, i have just been reassured by an orange rep on the phone that it will NOT be a problem as they had to do the same thing when 3g sims came out & people were still using 2g sims in 3g mobiles so it was done then. So that is a relief!!

Only problem is, still dont know when it will be available..

So, the working day is over and how much closer are we to some prices and availability information from the UK's big networks?

Am I right to think, "none" - except for Orange's pricing release early this morning?

there is no link, i just rung them up at 1pm uk time and i was the first person she dealt with about sending me one....because they just heard the news themselves.

Well based on your post I phoned to request one but they said they dont have them yet! & no info on them either

Any word on insurance?

If so what methods are there, I've never had an iPhone before :O

iPad Sims

To the people trying the serial numbers of their iPad Micro SIMs with swap my SIM...are they brand new SIMs, i.e. unactivated, never put into another device before, or are they activated with an iPad plan? It seems weird that O2 would make a special Micro SIM just for the iPad with a completely different chip to a normal SIM.

brand new sim fresh out the packaging

One thing I have't been able to find in either Orange or O2's iPhone 4 tarrifs is video calling, anyone know what the deal is with that?

well i'm not lying.....as a few others have already said they have had some helpful people on the phone to them who actually read their e mails and know what to do.....i had a very helpful person who said the micro sims were in stock and as i was currently with them they are sending me one in the post today which will take 3-4 days......i';d suggest ring them back and talk to someone who knows what they are on about!

Sorry, SuperCover is the company that administers the insurance. The company that sells it is:
http://www.gadget-cover.com/

I was told that even though i am getting my Iphone 4 from Apple, because i am still an O2 customer and still got insurance for my 3G, i can just phone them up to transfer my insurance over to the iPhone 4 when i get it as the insurance is linked to the mobile phone.
Currently i pay £7.50 a month, so hopefully this information was correct and i can pay £7.50 a month for my iPhone 4.

My only concern is the fact that i am getting my phone sim free so won't have a micro sim. The guy did say phone up when i get my phone and they will send one out as they arent sending em out just yet. Then can transfer insurance and simplicity contract over to micro sim.

This means i could have my phone for a whole week maybe longer and cant even activate it!????

IIRC it isn't included in either your minutes or data allowance. I believe Orange were charging me roughly 30p per minute for it on my old Nokia N97, don't quote me on this though.

But that's cart before the horse stuff, FaceTime is limited to WiFi for a good long while yet ;)

pop into a store and pick one up?

transfer to micro-sim but keep old 30 day simplicity tariff

For anyone that's interested (sorry if this is repeat information, this thread is so long now)...

I just came off the phone with O2, my question to them was- 'can I transfer my account to a micro-sim without being forced onto a new tariff?'. I have a 30 day Simplicity deal and am not interested in the new tariffs. I already purchased a sim-free phone direct from Apple.

I was a little paranoid that the process of transferring my account to a micro-sim would result in being forced onto one of the new tariffs. O2 said this is not so and that I can transfer the account without affecting the tariff. I'd rather do this than chop up a sim-card to make it fit, even though it is apparently very easy to do.

They also confirmed that even though my current tariff is one of the 30 day ones, it will remain exactly the same (£15, 1200 minutes, 600 sms, unlimited data & wifi) until I request a change.

Perfect!

so my 1st order was abandoned by apple!argh so ive replaced my order and its being despatched on the 2nd of July =[ like the rest of you that missed because of the bad website capacity!

so much messing around! anyone else have this happern too them?

Ah yes, I totally forgot FaceTime was only limited to WiFi for now. Cheers.

Quick bit of info regarding O2 pricing.

According to my source at O2, prices will be released by 21/06. He said that o2 were finalising pricing with Apple. They want to be more competitive than the other networks and that this will be made possible because of their long standing relationship.

Don't know how much of this is true but he is generally spot on.

Only time will tell. :):)

Yeah this is true as i have had calls wit O2 over the last few days. But as it is a rolling contract it acts both ways, so they could give you 30 days notice in regards to capping your data. That is why yesterday i set up a 12month Simplicity contract, so that now guarantees me 12 months Unlimited Data.
The guy who i spoke to congratulated me lol on my crafty way around the fact that i did it this way and bought the phone direct from Apple as they will transfer the current contract over to micro-sim and also my £7.50 a month insurance as that goes with the sim and whatever phone i use the sim with is insured as long as i tell them which phone i have got.
So now i am paying £599 for phone but £20 a month for 600mins,Unlimited internet data,Unlimited txts. May work out around same as going contract but leaves me flexable to upgrade at anytime and also the data is uncapped for at least another 12 months.

Just got off phone with O2 and they don't have any further info on micro-sims so cant send me one out yet, have to keep ringing back up or try again next week. Even though 5 months ago my girlfriend got a micro-sim inbedded in her normal sim and she only went sim only Simplicity plan so they must have the sims available...oh well maybe a shortage!?

I asked about this a few times over the last few days too, I kept calling back to make sure different customer services folk were giving the same answer. Logic says that you're correct but o2 insists that the 30 day contract will keep rolling over to exactly the same thing...

Yeah, sorta worried a little myself now in regards to the fact; you are on a rolling contract as was I so keeps rolling. Because i am on a 12months Simplicity contract now,. would it automatically turn into a 30 day rolling contract with unlimited data or would i have to sort out a whole new deal in 12 months!? Hope not and hope i keep my data in 12 months time

P.s Yeah lol think i phoned in regards to this to 3 different customer service people to confirm about being able to transfer insurance over as friends pay £15 and i am paying £7.50, plus needed to make sure the phone was insured even though i'm getting from Apple and not direct with them.
