posted this earlier today but in the midst of everyone posting every 2 seconds lol it got missed.

got a budget of 400 (lookin to get 32gb model)
currently I pay average £30 a month with orange, which broken down is dolphin 25 and £5 500 mb data bundle with unlim txts and about 200 mins (not much of a caller).

Seen Orange's tariffs today and not impressed about the possibility of goin on a 24 month contract, so was lookin at maybe either O2 or voda but dunno who to go with

Was that cashback through QuidCo? Seems an awfully fine offer :p

I'm hoping to get something decent on another network. O2 has been go so far, but it's a little unreliable out of town.

Just checked both quidco and top cash back and the simplicity 12 month contracts is £25 cashback £60 is for 18month normal contracts

Yep but still with MobileMe, it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

However I guess it all depends on your situtation, and who would be stupid to take it out when they get hammered or camping?

If your going round a friends, you should be able to trust them, so that shouldn't be a problem.

Like I said its the situation, the weather, the crime rate, where you will be using it, and how safe you keep it.

For me mines pretty safe down in somerset (Y)

How have you set your budget? Is it for the first month as the Handset is £599 (570 on Orange) up front PAYG.

Go with the best coverage in the area, I feel o2 are adept in my area so I don't want to switch, I keep my 'Unlimited' Data so I'm happy with that.

What happens if you ar eon a night out though and was to loose it or accidently leave it anywhere? Not had to claim yet but for the eqivilent of £90 a year to cover a £599 phone it's good peace of mind. Also if i was to loose it, it covers for upto £3000 worth of phone bill.

Well, the last time an iPhone 4 was left behind on a night out it caused a huge ruckus!

I'm not lookin for payg cant afford it, I got 400 part from a redundancy payout part selling my iPhone to O2 for recycling, I tried both sims in the phone and seemed to get decent enough reception from both and 3G.

Orange in my house gives me gprs majority of the time and downstairs I would get no signal (which I think was a device thing cause my c905 works). Had better signal downstairs again with voda an O2

Well If you are going Camping or to a Music Festival, then I would certainly not take it, as the battery isn't good enough as well :D.

But Students and the 'Younger' Generation tend to go out frequently to clubs and whatnot so it's very easy to lose it when your hammered.

Edit: I take it when the 'thief' takes out your SIM with the Data Package, MobileMe stops working so a Good 'thief' will get away with it no?

At this rate, I'm just going to plan to camp out an O2 store on Thursday and just stick with my current 3Gs PAYG sim card that will run into the "Text & Web" tariff and then I'll move to another plan next month when all the operators have announced and we have some idea of where the good deals are.

I am somewhat kicking myself for not pre-ordering sooner. What do you all reckon my chances are of getting an iPhone 4 at an O2 retail store on June 24th? Will they have them, or will they all have been reserved by customers?

What is the demand like for iphones in the apple stores here in the UK?

are there any big lines like in the USA and out of stock for the first few weeks?

The apple stores in my area never seem to be full, just the people on facebook and playing on the ipods and macbook pros.

Apple Store, Victoria Square

Phoned my local Apple Store, Victoria Square, Belfast to see if my reservation had gone through and I would be guaranteed an iPhone 4 on Launch Day.

The guy was able to pull my reservation up but he advised that they did not know how much stock they would be receiving and could not guarantee that all reservations would receive an iPhone on that day but they would receive priority for the stock that they do get in...

Does this mean that if reservations outnumber the stock they get in then no phone will be available for people that just turn up expecting to buy 1??!!

mike!!!!! id of thought youd be all over it from the ipad thread :p (im sure you were in there) :)

Well if your going for Pay Monthly, then your looking at Vodafone and o2 (I've been with o2 for ages and I've never had problems with them, their iPhone Support is based in the UK and never had problems with them, but Vodafone are very good as well - being very good with 3G Coverage too!).

Your looking at a base price of £25 for 24/m and £30/35 for 18/m looking at what the tariffs have shown us so far.

o2 has the Unlimited Texts + Either 100 or 300 Minutes (£30/35 respectively). Wait it out until Vodafone officially release their prices but your probably looking at £200ish for the handset on £30/35 a month on 18 month contract.

I'll bet the apple engineer that lost the prototype never thought he would loose his either.

And maybe jailbreaking etc when available for iphone 4 could get around that. Even if the theifs aren't clued up and just stealit regardless of if it works for them, it's still gone.
Its just the £599 is alot of money if it was a few hundred pounds maybe i would cancel but it does insure for the calls too so thats a plus.
Going to google to see what Mobile Me is. I know about tracking but other than that not sure.
Also they may just use it as an Ipod nano and ditch the sim anyhow.
If it is £200 for repair then also don't have to worry about going naked as will be insured if i was to drop it (touch wood i don't)

Oh n i have had a phone come out of my pocket and drop in the toilet but was one of those old Motorola very first phones that had 4 pencil batteries stuck together for a battery and a green screen and could hold 30 numbers with a pull up ariel lol, how things have changed in 14/15 years

You've answered your own question. If reservations outnumber the stock then obviously there isn't enough phones...

Nobody helped the person on the bus? Bus Driver didn't stop? Damn... America is crazy.

I've been all over this thread - following it rather obsessively to the point that I'm beginning to doubt my sanity. After all, in a month down the line this will all become rather academic and we'll have all moved onto other threads and interests with out new iPhones, right? :p

Still - I'm anxious for news. I might be moving to a new network and I'm trying hard to see if I can find the best deal within budget so I can give the missus a proper upgrade this time (she's been enviously eying my iPad) instead of just a 3Gs hand-me-down (that she is expecting!!).

How have you been? Did you get a pre-order in?

I think I will be doing this too. Don't know whether or not to camp out at a tiny Orange shop near me, a larger O2 store or the carphone warehouse.

I've booked the day off and I was thinking about getting there about 6 AM. What do you guys reckon?

if they pretty much match O2 its most likely gonna come down to a coin toss possibly

Like I said, thats why you have a pay as you go phone for the night out, you don't need all the fancy bits, too dark to record etc.

But it depends on your situation, I have not looked too much into what you can use to track your phone.

However I have to agree the possibility of loosing £600 in one go is scary. Wouldn't pay more than 10 pound, however anything less I would consider :O (with no house insurance)

EDIT:

Second option addresses sim card :p

Hmm I'm going to ring the store where I have reserved and see what they say.

The thing which keeps me thinking positive is:

I got my 3G two days after launch because of STUPID O2 and they still had stock for the general public!
