Hi Guys

Has any other out of contract upgraders thought about doing this (see below) to guarantee a phone on launch day and get a better deal than the averge joe.

1) Queue outside your networks shop on mornin of launch.

2) Get Iphone 4 on average joe contract high fiving everyone on way out and making impatient people in line feel angry

3) Play with Iphone 4 at home for a few days and admire its quality saying "yes steve, i really have never felt another consumer product like it!"

4) Call network customer service and get put through to returns department
tell them you want to cancel the contract and return the phone.

5) They should then send you through to disconnections or as we all know the real name "retentions"

6) Haggle better deal with retentions for cheaper tarrif/ more web bolt ons ect

7) Either get a better deal or return phone and go to different network shop which will be restocked and not busy, meaning you will have had the phone from launch day and poss got a better deal.

thoughts please......

**but bear in mind im a 9 year 02 platinum customer so think im worth more to them than averge joe and I know I could wait for a few days an get a better deal on the phone after launch but I want it nowwwwwww!!!!

Think I'm going to go giffgaff to see how they are.

£10/ month 100 minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited internet.

Having my 32gb delivered on 24th:D

I rang Orange, never got through to retentions (not sure how to lol) but CS wouldn't budge on tariffs sayin Apple make the pricing and they cant budge, I havent tried the cancel account unless i am gauranteed a iphone on launch, they fob me off on the phone when I asked if they could reserve a handset in a store sayin they would just send the phone there and couldn't say I would get it on day of launch.

i know the thread as moved on from data, but I tried streaming the football for 10 minutes over 3G and it used 31MB! Bloody hell, I'd better be careful in the future.
ps I'm wasting far too much time refreshing this thread page since Steve spoke!

I've reserved a phone through the Glasgow Apple store was toying with PAYG and just sticking my existing 3GS sim in it! Or I could upgrade the exsisting 10 months at £20 plus handset cost around £370 ish.....However my mate owns a local o2 franchised minutes from me, spoke to him yesterday and he stated that they will receive some white stock but it will be limited so do I go PAYG and keep existing tariff / data or upgrade to full new contract on limited data plans now in force....decisions decisions:D

hey guys

Around July 6th I'm going to be in the London and I'm wondering what you need to need to purchase an unlocked iPhone 4 in the apple store. I know in the US you need to buy it with a credit card and not cash. If they even have iPhones in stock what will I need to purchase one in London? Also can you buy unlocked iphones in the store or is it only online?

Thanks,
Zach

I had the same instore at O2 today, told me no reserves just first come first serve but I could phone up on launch day and try and get a better deal but sods law says I'll miss out on the first batch an be stuck for a few weeks without the new shiney shiney. b@st@rds do not understand how to look after their best customers.

In a perfect world theyd give me a better deal on launch day instore, I dont mind qeueing up like everyone else but was also told today that O2's retails stores are there to steal customers from other networks, not to look after their current customers. Unbeleivable.

I find this interesting

Apple said:
  • Do I need an iPhone-specific service plan?

iPhone may require large amounts of data usage. Please contact your carrier to ensure that you have an appropriate service plan to support iPhone.

to me this says we don't need to be tied into an iPhone specific tariff so why do the networks force us to?

Is there anyone who has reserved an iPhone at an Apple Store NOT going to collect it early in the morning (8am) or rather after work (like around 5/6 pm)?

I rang up the Apple Store in White City and they say those who reserved will have stock allocated to them up until close of day at 10pm.

I don't want to wait all day and come in at 5 to find out they have sold out of all iPhones:(

If they have stock, which I doubt they will, you can walk in and buy a PAYG/Sim-Free Phone which is unlocked. No ID or anything needed, CC will do.

Does it have to be a credit card from the UK? Or would a Canadian VISA card work? Stupid question? haha

I was just thinking, we already have the Orange prices right? Well wont T-Mobiles prices just mirror these so not to kill each others sales???
