Uurg. So O2 have explicitly said no PAYG at launch and none of the other networks have said anything definite either way? Is that a fair summary?
Orange seem to have the best chance of having PAYG at launch but even that doesn't seem to be definite. OK, they've announced handset prices and tariffs for PAYG, but then so have O2 and they have explicitly said that PAYG isn't available on 24th. As far as availability is concerned then, as of 30 seconds ago, Orange is still saying "Register your interest" on the web site so they could yet "do an O2" and announce a delay on PAYG availability.
My only cause for optimism is that when I registered with Apple to reserve my iPhone for collection at my local Apple store the system offered me the choice of PAYG. That info has already been overtaken by events though because the Apple system said that PAYG would only be available on O2 or Orange and O2 now seem to have pulled the plug on it for launch day. Hopefully, because Apple offered customers a PAYG option on the reservation system, they will at least put a lot of pressure on Orange to have their PAYG offer available on 24th June.
I'm planning to go with Orange PAYG anyhow so I think I'm OK but I'm by no means sure of that.
