Where does it say not PAYG at launch?

Under the pay and go section on the o2 website:

'You may know this, but you don't need a monthly contract to get an iPhone. iPhone 4 will be coming soon to Pay & Go but it won't be available at launch.'

You could still get one from Apple on the launch day though.

yet with 6700 posts, it is impossible to find anything, and 270 pages, its taken me days just to keep up with it.

Plus new information is released all the time, which is what people are discussing ;z

My only cause for optimism is that when I registered with Apple to reserve my iPhone for collection at my local Apple store the system offered me the choice of PAYG. That info has already been overtaken by events though because the Apple system said that PAYG would only be available on O2 or Orange and O2 now seem to have pulled the plug on it for launch day. Hopefully, because Apple offered customers a PAYG option on the reservation system, they will at least put a lot of pressure on Orange to have their PAYG offer available on 24th June.

I'm planning to go with Orange PAYG anyhow so I think I'm OK but I'm by no means sure of that.

You and I are in a similar situation, however the reservation pages didn't work for me, and then I missed the June 24th shipping date and now I don't have any guarantee of an iPhone on launch day and the likelihood of getting one at all is slipping fast.

I cant see Vodafone announcing preorders today, tomorrow maybe. Although I've been saying that for the last 2 days:)

Would be nice of them to announce the prices so we can all ponder on it overnight.

There's been a lot of talk about people going to Apple stores on the day, but who is going to a phone shop on the morning of June 24th?

I'll be in the Basingstoke area - I might even give Festival Place a go. I queued last year (I was in first place!) at the O2 store and yes, they did have PAYG iPhones for sale.

I will likely be once prices for all networks and availability of the white handset is confirmed.

Sorry to hear that Mike but, from my discussions with the staff in my local Orange shop this lunchtime, you might still have a chance of getting in to an Orange shop in person and placing a pre-order with them for 24th collection. They should be opening up pre-orders in the next couple of days they say. I posted about that a few hours back but you might have missed my post (while you were off being unfaithful with another forum :) ).

This was me on June 19th last year, queuing for my first ever Apple product (I'm the guy at the front outside the O2 store, in shorts & sandals).

Sorry if this has been posted but have o2 made some sort of error on their website? The iPhone is the same price on a 18 and 24 month contract, but the tariff is priced differently?

This seems odd as Orange handset prices vary between the length of your contract.

I noticed this also.....

I think the graphic designer at O2 is gonna get the sack.. that table is shocking and only lays out everything in seemingly confusing way.

I hope for a white one too. Well, I want a black, but my wife wants a white one. Actually she thinks she's getting my 3Gs, so it will be a nice surprise for her. And hopefully she'll relinquish her tight grip on my iPad!

this was on their website for a wee while if you clicked the banner it took you to the 3Gs devices

All the networks are doing that (still pushing 3Gs devices). I wonder if they're actually selling any.

I was lurking, I didn't participate, honest!

Do Orange shops do that then? Pre-ordering? I imagine they'll want a deposit? Ok, when the pre-orders open I'll mosey on down. It could be tough to get in quickly though - maybe Orange will take an online pre-order?

What time did you start queueing at the o2 store? I plan on queueing this year but undecided what time to go down there. Thinking about 7am.

No, it's not a fault with their site. Reread it a few times and you'll see.

Where you at the O2 store at Festival Place last year? I got there for 7am. I don't expect big queues this year, given that all the networks will be selling so it's not like there's a single exclusive shop to queue at.

The staff told me that they would. I was told that the deal is that if you want to collect from a store then you need to place the pre-order at the store. I want to do that, and the store is really convenient for me to get to, so I didn't ask about online pre-order but I _think_ they'll be doing that too but then it will be for delivery only, not in-store collection.

This is all just what I was told by store staff so don't hold me to it. They are definitely having in-store June 24th availability though because there's a sign up in the window of my local store and it's opening at 7:00am on 24th (so it says on the sign).
