Im going to get it sim free from Apple so its unlocked for £500

Then going to get a simplicity sim card from O2 for £25 a month the one where it is just month to month so you can cancel anytime.

Im not getting it at launch though as my contract with Orange doesn't finish till August.

Also I want the white version.

Do Orange shops do that then? Pre-ordering? I imagine they'll want a deposit? Ok, when the pre-orders open I'll mosey on down. It could be tough to get in quickly though - maybe Orange will take an online pre-order?
what I was told beginning of the week was you can reserve from monday with a £60 deposit

This was me on June 19th last year, queuing for my first ever Apple product (I'm the guy at the front outside the O2 store, in shorts & sandals).

I can see it was your first ever Apple product. You know now that they're quite compact and you don't need to bring that big trolley with you next time? 😀

Apparently the unlimited data is only until the 1st October - so I've been told...

The problem here is that about 20 people have posted saying that O2 will be cancelling all unlimited data tarrifs and another 20 have said that O2 will be honoring unlimited data plans started before the 24th of June. All we can do is pick a side and hope for the best.

This link will provide with iPhone plans with Unlimited wifi, data and visual voicemail, with no mention of expiry.

This is the plan I just switched to (the 15 pound one)

IF O2 do cancel unlimited data on my plan in October that would be a change in my contract and I will have the option of terminating it and taking my sim free iphone to any other provider. So you can't lose really 🙂

Do you think 02 will announce pre orders tomorrow? I have been getting the updates via email and they are counting down and adding new information everyday but i can't think of anything left for them to announce other than a pre order. I have seen people talking about 02, Vodafone and Orange confirming that they are not taking pre orders at all but has this been confirmed?

Latest rumour passing around work (I work on iPhone Level 2 for Orange) is that Orange were due to take pre orders on the 15th but it got pulled because Apple didn't want us doing pre orders on that day. It seems pretty believable due to Apple supposedly controlling tariff prices etc, but I guess we will never know.

O2 opening times?

Hiya everyone,

Just looked at the o2 prices think I'm gonna stay with them.

Will o2 stores be opening early on the 24th? Going to the one in lakeside shopping centre.

Cheers guys

I think he's trying to hide behind it so people don't spot him queuing @ an O2 store - first in the queue too😀

There's been a lot of talk about people going to Apple stores on the day, but who is going to a phone shop on the morning of June 24th?

I'll be in the Basingstoke area - I might even give Festival Place a go. I queued last year (I was in first place!) at the O2 store and yes, they did have PAYG iPhones for sale.

If we find out before the day that the Apple store isn't doing Vodafone contracts, I'll be queuing outside one of their shops.

Hopefully we'll know before the morning, Apple stores have been vague according to this forum saying things like "at least 2 providers" etc

Hey, since O2 are taking away all our unlimited internet, I think we should pump as much data through their network as we can on the same day to show them exactly what we think of that. Would anyone else be interested in helping with participating? 😀

Hi guys,

A little help?

I got the iPhone originally on my Dads name, I paid him etc. And we've been doing that for the past 2 years. "Our" contract ended in Feb. Now I would like to upgrade, but start my own contract... Can I do this?

I was paying 35 a month but would it be better to go for the Simplicity option? For 25 a month? I don't understand what Simplicity is.... It just looks cheaper for more... ?

Thank you!

I am in a similar situation and have been for years, the account is registered in a parents name but the money has been coming from a direct debit of an account based in my name. I have never had any luck with o2 changing the details. I intend to try one last time then if not start a new contract. Let me know if you have any luck!

Simplicity is a SIM only, what you are on at the moment is a longer term contract, the reason you are paying more is because originally when you get the handset you get it free or a lot cheaper than its retail value. The cost of the phone is then spread across your contract length.

For the record i would like to say that i currently own no apple products, and until recently i had no real feelings either way for apple. I now currently hate apple and the iphone 4 because i dont want to want one, and i dont want to be on the forum scrounging for every scrap of information and i dont want to be antsy about not knowing how long i have to wait for one.

DAMN YOU APPLE 😛

Maybe the reason we're spending so much time on this forum is to kill time while waiting for the arrival of those glossy new items.

At least most of you are getting yours on the 24th. I've got to wait until 5 July 🙁

Looks like the queue will be going one way for O2 and the other way for Voda judging buy your picture lol

I did the same yesterday - signed up for the £15 simplicity tariff thinking this would allow me to keep my unlimited data. However, I then read something in this thread (many many pages ago) which prompted me to contact O2 to verify this. I was then told that this is not the case and all unlimited data tariffs will be capped from the 1st October 😕

Hehe, just you wait. One bite of this Apple and you'll be hooked. You'll need a Mac and iPad to go with that iPhone. Then there are the cases, docks, speakers, apps...

What to do with Orange...

I currently have their 30 Day SIM Only service using it with my O2 unlocked 3GS.

I've spoken to 4 different people in iPhone Support and I'm told I can only have a micro-SIM if I buy a Orange handset but cannot transfer my number from my current contract.

Guess I'll have to cut it...

I have been assured by a rep from the head guys office that its not a problem to switch your number onto a micro sim mid contract. its what they had to do when 3g sims came out.

This is what I've been clueless on all this time. Either they aren't clear and one thing is happening (Nothing before 24th June will be cut vs ALL smartphone unlimited data will be cut) or both with be happening. I'm taking a risk on a 30 rolling day tariff just to be sure

I too was told this by O2 Customer Services the other day.

It is impossible to know the true position when some people have been told otherwise.

Unlikely, im pretty dedicated to my pc! I'd hate to have to re learn how to do all the nifty little things i know about PC's! I want an iphone so much because 5mp camera + flash, awesome internet browsing, can ditch my ipod (oops thats right i forgot about that one!), plus app store = awesome games on my phone!

Dammit, now im just making myself more antsy about the whole thing!

My solution, next year apple should produce as many iphones they sell this year in the first 4 months ready for launch day 2011!
