People keep asking same questions over and over that have been answered.ORANGE WILL RESERVE YOU AN IPHONE 4 FOR PAYG OR CONTRACT FOR THE 24TH, MULTIPLE PEOPLE HAVE CONFIRMED THIS, YOU JUST NEED TO POP IN AND PUT A DEPOSIT DOWN WHEN THEY CALL YOU, PROBABLY EARLY NEXT WEEK.

Really? I can't see any info about this anywhere. I suppose it depends on when the stores are open - some info about which stores are taking deposits would be good, too!

Every post ive read on here has confirmed it along with the 3 stores I phoned today, one of which I reserved it and am getting a call soon to pay my deposit.

I have an unactivated O2 iPad micro sim card so I decided to try and transfer my O2 number to this new sim card using the swapmysim.o2.co.uk
i entered all the information required and after 14 hrs the old sim stopped working, i popped in the micro sim (with the adapter) into my nokia phone and YES it worked! I managed to receive a call on the number and the micro-sim worked!!!!! So try it might work with you guys!!!

I tried this earlier and it said the serial number was invalid. :-(

*How to move to micro SIM NOW*

This is to confirm that iPad SIMs DO work fine!

I received my iPad micro SIM today, went to this page and entered the relevant details, put the micro in its conversion holder, back into the iPhone and its ready to go - site says up to 4 hours to move so will report back when 100% confirmed!)

Oh wow... I could kiss ya! If it works anyway. :-s

What serial number did you put???! dont put the whole number you see on the sim card. Check the label on the outerpack of the micro sim and it should have the SSN written there, copy the one written there and it should definitely work. when i copied the whole serial number found on the sim card it kept giving me an error! trust me and copy the SSN on the label.

i really want to be on Orange but theres no comparable plan to Simplicity:confused:

You can take out any of the contacts with orange and just use it on your new Orange iphone bought on pay as you go or on your iphone bought from the apple store.

Check out there sim only deals.

Hey
Quick question
Ive reserved a phone from apple for contract, when i go in store will i be able to get the contract i want on o2?
Cheers guys

Hi All,

It was late night shopping tonight, and Wife and I had been in Pizza hut to have dinner. So when we finished, we popped into the local Apple store that i have reserved my 2x 32GB phones through.

The Apple rep i spoke to said that O2 had put a block on them doing any upgrades on the 24th.

Really not happy about this. But he said to call the store on the 23rd, as there may not be the option for upgrading on the day.

If that is the case, im taking my money elsewhere and will sign a new contract with Orange. Screw O2 if this is what they are going to do to loyal customers.

I tried both when I did it at http://swapmysim.o2.co.uk/

Seems to have worked using http://o2.co.uk/mynewsim. Just waiting for it to switch over now.

If this proves to be true (and it's a big if) then I'm right there with you. I'm fortunate in that the area I'm in has good coverage from all the major networks, and with prices being broadly similar for both handset and tarriff across all networks, staying on O2 is not a big deal. Additionally, being a die hard mac user, I'm very much Apple's customer over and above O2s. I'm out of contract so if O2 don't want me then so be it. A.N.Other telco will get my money with the only guaranteed winners being Apple and myself. This isn't to say I've not been happy with O2's service for te past couple of years, I have, but I'm not wedded to them.

I would have though that losing some of their very best/high spending customers on launch day for whatever reason is a rather silly thing to do.

Can anyone else substantiate this?

To everyone STILL going on about O2 capping your data on existing contracts, why dont you print off thier OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE HERE to give you all peace of mind!

Use a highlighter pen on "Existing customers will continue under their present terms, unlimited data usage with an Excessive Use Policy."

Stop listening to the poorly trained call centre staff

But when you read the press release, it clearly very clearly in fact says that you only keep the unlimited data until 1st October. If you're an existing customer who UPGRADES then you don't keep the unlimited data after 1st October.

By UPGRADE they mean if you have any phone and change to and iPhone4 then that's UPGRADING.

Actually, in fairness (and speaking as one of those people who reported on the Orange situation) that's not entirely the situation as I see it. Sorry if I seem pedantic but I'm just trying to be precise. Here is what I know about Orange:

1) Orange will be selling something on 24th. Evidence - there is a sign in my local Orange shop and info on the web saying this. However, nowhere that I've seen does it say contract and PAYG. I think that we can be pretty sure it will be contract but, on the basis that we at first thought O2 was both contract and PAYG on 24th and not it turns out to be just contract, I don't think that we can definitively say that Orange will have PAYG at launch. My suspicion, for what it's worth, is that Orange will have PAYG on 24th but I am unaware of any hard evidence to confirm that.

2) Orange shops are taking a list of interested people in store (or at least my store but others are reporting it too). They will call people when pre-orders open and they expect that to be in the next few days but they haven't been given exact info by HQ so they're as much in the dark as us.

So the summary is that there's a pretty reasonable expectation that pre-orders will open in-store at Orange in the next few days but right now all there really is are local in-store "register your interest" lists, with an expectation that there will be pre-ordering, and a hope that it will include PAYG as well as contract. We do of course have full handset pricing and tariff info for both contract and PAYG published on their site.

If anyone can go further and be more definitive on any of the above on the basis of published info from Orange then I'd really like to hear it please.

- Julian

Glad to see that the iPad SIM is working. So far then, it looks like the services are provisioned-on-SIM at subscriber registration/activation.

I've moved over to my new micro-sim. I haven't removed the 3FF from the Mini-SIM package, so I'm fine.

I'd recommend anyone ring their local Apple store. Each store may have a take on it. The rep i spoke to said that O2 had only put the block on them today since announcing their handset plans. He thinks that O2 want to push as much traffic through their own doors as possible, but it doesnt actually make any difference. O2 still get the same amount of cash whether you buy the phone form Apple or them.

I'm expecting that the real reason is they expect their systems to not be in a position to cope with all the pre orders from Apple and their own retail stores.
