Hi All,

It was late night shopping tonight, and Wife and I had been in Pizza hut to have dinner. So when we finished, we popped into the local Apple store that i have reserved my 2x 32GB phones through.

The Apple rep i spoke to said that O2 had put a block on them doing any upgrades on the 24th.

Really not happy about this. But he said to call the store on the 23rd, as there may not be the option for upgrading on the day.

If that is the case, im taking my money elsewhere and will sign a new contract with Orange. Screw O2 if this is what they are going to do to loyal customers.

The Apple rep must be mis-informed, Why would o2 block upgrades through Apple and lose money?

Well I couldn't wait for the iPhone 4 so I bought an iPad today. This thing's amazing!

Anyway, I spoke to the Arndale Centre Apple Store today. They don't yet know the arrangements for queueing but will know some time next week. I was told that last time security escorted the people queen outside the Arndale to the store in the same order!

Also confirmed that if you reserved an iPhone you WILL get one.

I thought that might be the case too, but from yesterday when they were confident that id be able to upgrade in store, to today......when i cant. Must be a reason for him to have said that. He also said, taking out a new contract in store on any of the networks would be fine, just the upgrade process through O2 which had been blocked.

Apple Store UK shows shipping 14th July now...

Not sure if this has been mentioned earlier, too many posts to read through...

Apple Store UK shows shipping 14th July now...

How's this going to affect people who have NOT reserved, and just walk-ins turning up?

Luckily for me, sorry to brag - I ordered mine SIM Free directly from Apple UK, delivery 24th June - only 7 days to go!

thanks, ive already got a phone on order from apple store - i can still cancel it tho?

im looking at the dolphin 25 sim only which is only a monthly contract, however if doesnt mention any bt openzone?

I see, no it does not include that. Might be worth giving them a call ust to see what can be done about open zones on that sim only contract (dont mention its for the iphone though or they will try and upsell you to an iphone contract)

Spare iPad sims

Just in case it will help someone I have a spare o2 micro sim and a spare 3 micro sim from my iPad purchase if anyone can make use of them by transferring data. First person to pm me with address gets it and i'll put in the post tomorrow. I went with orange for iPad and vodafone for ip4 so won't use them and they're just in a draw upstairs somewhere. Will also be at trafford next Thursday if anyone wants me to handover then. Hoping this will bring me good iPhone karma and a lovely white one this time next week!

why is the Orange £30 deal crap compared to O2. You get half as many minutes (only 150) and only 250 text compared to unlimited with O2!

I'll be going onto the £35 Orange tariff but wanted my wife to go onto Orange too but the deal is so much less than O2 I can't justify it.

Are there any advantages to being on the same network (apart from magic number) that I maybe missing? I hope they don't do something stupid like free facetime talking over 3g but only on same network, that would really pee me off!

It wont affect, when iPad had shipping date of 7th June and then plain "June" the Apple Stores and DSG were still selling them, the online order system and retail stock will be 2 seperate supplies like with iPad I would imagine

To the people who have successful got the O2 website to accept the micro sim number, has it actually swapped your number over? Can you make calls etc? Or are you still waiting?

It definitely worked 100000%. I received and made calls, topped up and received messages.

Wow, this could REALLY mess up my plans on the 24th. I have one 'reserved' and have my O2 PAC code. I was going to sign up with Vodafone, but if I failed the credit check, I'd go with an O2 upgrade. Now if I fail the VF credit check, there is no back-up.

I can't see why this would benefit O2 though, certain people will want to stay with O2 and upgrade. I can't imagine anyone would turn their back on a guaranteed iPhone and go to the sweaty O2 shop just to stay with a network that has the equal worst data and the poorest 3G coverage!

This whole launch is baffling.

Wouldn't it be great if Apple decided to run their own network? Scrap the ridiculous amount of minutes/texts and give me 5GB of data a month, then I can run the Apps that Apple wants me to run!

I recommend everyone who wants an iPhone, whether it's SIM free, PAYG, or contract, to take a look at Quidco. They give you cashback on goods from Apple, Orange, O2, etc.

£30 off an iPhone 4 on Orange PAYG for me, so I only pay £450, same as I did for my 3GS. Not half bad at all ;)

I was given an activated (i think) microsim from o2 - i have ported over the details and just hoping that there will be no issues considering it might have been activated :-s

Arhhh "topped up" that explains it. The iPad sims they send out are PAYG right? You can sim swap from PAYG to PAYG but you CAN'T sim swap from a Contract (Pre Pay) sim to a PAYG sim. i.e if you have a spare unused PAYG sim card lying around and you lose your contract (pre pay) sim you cant call O2 and ask them to swap your details onto that spare PAYG sim, it has to be an unregistered Contract (Pre pay) sim that you swap to (these can be picked up from any O2 store)

The Queen got an iPhone last time mate? Wonder if she'll be getting one next Thursday?! :D

Did you ask about entrances, it'd be good to know which one they were escorted from? I hope the reservation thing is correct!
