I honestly can't believe how confusing it is reading this thread. My brain is melting lol.

Can someone help me out please?

Even though O2 (and possibly Orange) won't be selling PAYG phones on the 24th, Will they be able to provide me with a PAYG micro-sim? I have reserved the Sim Free iPhone from Apple to pick up on the 24th, and wondering, if I can't get a hold of a microsim, if i could just use a spare standard sim i have lying in my drawer, cut it up to fit in the iPhones sim tray, activate it and away I go? I'll be sticking to either the Text&Web tariff or going to the PAYG Simplicity.

Can anyone tell me if I'll be able to do this?

Thank you thank you.

I think I need to take time off this site lol....I'm constantly refreshing, panicing, worrying, and getting confuse
d

lol the last 3 days after coming home i have done nothing but look at this thread and phoned O2 lots. Woorying about Insurance, micro-sim and getting black instead of the white!!! lol, but i just know i'm guna go click that refresh button again....Nooooooo........too late!!! :D:apple:

haha whats it like!? i honestly can't bare it anymore...as much as i love apple, and love this site...I think i may have to call it quits...until the 24th :D

billyjoegibsonx...over and out. *scrhhhhh*

Will i have to actually take my iPhone 4 with me to O2 shop to get micro sim or will they just release one to me? Just hope can just get one without as i hope they have plenty in stock as if there is a shortage they may want to protect their numbers in case people start selling them on eBay

Ive been on O2 for a few years now but thinking of moving to Vodafone because of the sketchy connectivity im getting.

Whats their customer services like?

Generally whats the better network if it were between the two?

in relation to my last post.....i cant help my self.

but it relation to this quote...

I don't think it should matter too much, but i'd take it with me incase. You will most likely have to pay for a sim, so they aren't going to refuse you if you have an iphone or not. Like myself....if i cant get a hold of one i'll be cutting up a spare sim to fit inside the iphone sim tray. so if they cant give you a microsim, get a standard sim card :)

They also do some cashback on phone recycling. About 4 quid on MoPay and Cash in my Phone.

I used Quidco when i pre ordered mine and my wife's iPhone which knocked off about £30.

I have listed our old iPhones on ebay but just noticed your post and went through Quidco and money4mymobile and they have offered £205+£3.50 Quidco cashback!

Not bad £208.50 for a 3G..... May just cancel the auction and go for it!

your right! haha. too addictive

I suppose now that i know what i'm doing.....providing i actually get an iphone with my reservation, i can relax.....a little  haha. i think i will just try avoid the iphone section until i'm up an running on my black beauty (haha so going to name my iphone that in itunes, oh what i will have gone through for her. sad)

I thought that might be the case too, but from yesterday when they were confident that id be able to upgrade in store, to today......when i cant. Must be a reason for him to have said that. He also said, taking out a new contract in store on any of the networks would be fine, just the upgrade process through O2 which had been blocked.

Looks like I'm ringing the Apple Store again in the morning :(

If this is true, o2 are on a serious mission to lose as many customers as possible.

I honestly think I'm going to just keep my iPhone 4 for more than a year, until the next big model (iPhone - iPhone 3g. iPhone 3g - iPhone 4)

and lets hope pre-ordering isn't such a mess next time

and i hope that all phones move to micro sim, and that sim cards don't get any smaller...

So O2 definitely isn't selling PAYG iphone 4's on launch?

I guess queueing on launch at the apple store is my only choice... my only issue now is whether or not they'll have white ones.

**** this is all so irritating:mad:

Actually, in fairness (and speaking as one of those people who reported on the Orange situation) that's not entirely the situation as I see it. Sorry if I seem pedantic but I'm just trying to be precise. Here is what I know about Orange:

1) Orange will be selling something on 24th. Evidence - there is a sign in my local Orange shop and info on the web saying this. However, nowhere that I've seen does it say contract and PAYG. I think that we can be pretty sure it will be contract but, on the basis that we at first thought O2 was both contract and PAYG on 24th and not it turns out to be just contract, I don't think that we can definitively say that Orange will have PAYG at launch. My suspicion, for what it's worth, is that Orange will have PAYG on 24th but I am unaware of any hard evidence to confirm that.

2) Orange shops are taking a list of interested people in store (or at least my store but others are reporting it too). They will call people when pre-orders open and they expect that to be in the next few days but they haven't been given exact info by HQ so they're as much in the dark as us.

So the summary is that there's a pretty reasonable expectation that pre-orders will open in-store at Orange in the next few days but right now all there really is are local in-store "register your interest" lists, with an expectation that there will be pre-ordering, and a hope that it will include PAYG as well as contract. We do of course have full handset pricing and tariff info for both contract and PAYG published on their site.

If anyone can go further and be more definitive on any of the above on the basis of published info from Orange then I'd really like to hear it please.

- Julian

Eloquent and to the point. Any news on Orange retail availability on the 24th is welcome.

I hear you.

Apple should have stock for people who haven't reserved (phoned today and was told there would be two ques. one for reserved and one for non-reserved) on the day. However i would suggest camping outside before opening time to increase your chance of getting one as i'm sure it will sell out quickly. it will be sim free so you can use any sim you want. I obviously cant confirm anything but i have read that it may only be the carrier stores offering limited white models on launch date.

You could preorder online if you dont want to camp. but will not get your iphone till the 14th unfortuantly. If you get a sim free one, you can get hold of an orange card in the mean time. however what i'm doing is getting the sim free iphone from apple. and just going round to the o2 store and asking for a micro sim, if i don't get one i'll just chop up a spare sim an pop it in an activate it :)

I'll pick up my iphone. visit o2/orange shops for PAYG sims. if not then i'll go home and butcher a spare sim and get it going.

thank you btw. in the midst of all this chaos of people talking bout their contracts, i felt lost being a PAYG customer lol. I'll probably pass out when i finally get this phone in my hands, lets hope i wont damage it in the process, but i'm sure it'll be worth it :D

I feel the same way. I will be going from contract onto PAYG and feel quite confused as I have never been on it before.

I have ordered sims from every provider, including some ipad sims to use as templates. I'll probably spend the 24th chopping up sims to see which carrier has the best coverage for me. Then make my decision on who to go with, based on that and price.

I'm sure one day I will get too old to obsess about a product like this. Hopefully not for a while though.;)

Ive been told Apple stores will have micro sims in stock on the day but only for people that buy their iphone locked to a network.

Each & every phone starts of "sim free" but then in the store they can be locked to network of your choice & a micro sim will be supplied

So you buy the unlocked phone the micro sim is down to the customer to obtain

Thats what i'm doing :)

I'd be the same too, As i was considering contract but ive always been on PAYG, so don't know how it works.

PAYG on the iphone is only available from o2 and orange (i think i read this somewhere but could possibly be wrong) Infact i didnt think myself to order some sims from orange! might go do that just now!

o2 in my area is great, had no problems with it. never been with orange but checking their coverage thing on their site it seems pretty great!

So when the 24th comes, if you cant get a hold of a microsim then like you said, just cut all the sims up to fit, see whats best and use it :D

I wonder if anybody can help, I recycled my phone through: www.sellular-phones.com they actually seem to offer the best price (£280 for 16GB 3G S), only thing is I havnt recieved the money yet and I sent it SD last Thursday, starting to not trust the website at all since its not very popular :S Has anybody used this site to sell an old phone?

Anyone out there who pre ordered and used quidco got their cashback yet?
Mine still hasn't gone through :(

Mine neither, and let's be honest I'm not really expecting it to. That's £17.97 I could have done with as well...:(

Ive Decided!, As much as 02 has been a pain in my grand canyon, im gona stay loyal, takin a new 24/m £45mnth contract! it better be worth it, but then im gona kick in the plan the rest of yous do, sell the Iphone 4, to pay towards the iPhone Going out that year, and switch to sim only!, then every year i can get the new iphone, yippeee! :)
