I have been on the Giffgaff website and on the FAQ page about iPhone 4 it states that there may be problems with using the network with iOS 4, anyone know any more about this?

Evening all,

I am after some advice please.

I have no reservation for an iPhone at any Apple store but want one on launch day. Now I have a couple of options. I can either go and queue up outside the Apple store and take a chance on getting one (am I able to upgrade my O2 contract at the store?). Or I can go to the local O2 store and take a chance.

My other option is that a colleague of mine and I were talking yesterday and it turns out he has an iPhone being delivered from Apple to his house on the 24th. He also has an iPhone reserved at the local Apple store, which he has offered to me (he was hedging his bets with the pre-ordering). Now if I go to the Apple store with his reservation confirmation print out, will Apple give the phone to me? He has not paid anything yet and he has no intention of collecting it as he is getting the one delivered.

I just want to make sure that before I drive all the way to the store with his reservation paperwork and then get told that as it's a different name that I can't have it, that I am not going to be disappointed.

Suggestions please?

i called regent street earlier today and was told that for unlocked ip4's all i had to do was tell them my email address; i guess if that doesn't work i will show them my print-out or let them see the email inside my mobileme account on a nearby mac :)

I'm a pineapple ring
Sorry, lots of fruits and rings there :)

I think from your previous post you have everything covered. Sometimes they ask for a utility bill if you can get hold of one of those.

Yoyo.

Are we supposed to salute? :)

What you're doing sounds useful (don't know about how the post is coming across to the forum population, mind) - maybe a wiki page could be a good way to keep us civvies up to date!

No salute required, I was not an officer and used to work for a living. :D

If I had the time I might have made my own thread full of pictures and links to repay how helpful all the guys have been on here for keeping us up to date. (be it in a haphazard civvie way) :D:D:D

So my slopey shoulders will come in to effect again I'll have to say sorry but my g/f will kick my ass if I spend anymore time on here.

There's heaters to be fixed and wardrobe doors to be rehung. Oh the Joy!!

See you later guys

Help!

Hey guys, have been reading this thread, great thread with a lot of information. :)

I need some advice, well I decided to cut my sim and well as i have an old sim (pictured on the left) the metal bit is very large a bit like those old 2G sims

Well anyway as its so big, my sim card surgery encountered some unespected errors, now i came to the conclusion i might have to cut part of metal.

The part of the metal that i want to cut is the top left (pictured in red)
I believe most modern phones dont use that section of the sim anymore as the new ones dont have it, but i am worried that if i cut that part it will stop the sim card from working.

I hope I uploaded the image right, my first post in this forum

PS. this picture is not my sim card is for demonstration purposes only, I found this picture in another thread.

Advice please guys?

If you're going with O2, you might want to get an iPad SIM, and use that instead :)

Will that actually work? If so its good news for me as I belive i have an unopened one!
Is it possible to use this page: http://swapmysim.o2.co.uk/
to transfer my current number the iPad sim?

I am on a 24 month iPhone 3GS contract at the moment (dont know if that is relevant)

Many people are reporting that this is working, as have I. As long as you use an unused/unopened/unactivated SIM, you should be fine. I've used that sub-site to transfer everything.

Well I might as well give it a go, and see how it goes.
How long did it take for the transfer to occur? Did your old (non iPad) sim just simply stop working randomly?

Your right there seem to be some redundant bits. I saw this bit that might help.

The last picture is the guide. Don't cut through the red bits. I think they had a misprint.

GiffGaff use O2's masts and have great 30 day rolling deals with unlimited data. I'm switching to them once my O2 contract expires in October.

This is what ill be doing, i have already ordered my giffgaff sim :)

Post on the thread below to show your interest in giffgaff microsims

There isn't any reason why it shouldn't work especially on a sim-free iPhone 4. People are even able to get the current iPhones locked to O2 to work on giffgaffs network.

Thanks everyone for the assistance, I decided to go ahead and cut it anyway!

and well...

It worked :D

hey guys, im sorry this has probably been asked a million times already, i reserved my phone for pickup, and im currently on a simplicity, when i go too the store next thurs, will they upgrade my contract there and then & provide me with a micro sim? Many thanks!

Hey everyone, I've been away for a couple of days so haven't been able to catch up with the 1000+ posts since then!

I need some advice. I'm in the last 2 months of my Orange contract and am eligible for upgrade. I've reserved an iPhone 4 for pickup on the 24th and wanted to know if the upgrade process (renewing the contract, changing to a micro-SIM etc) can be done in-store on the day? If so, does this also mean that I'll be paying the subsidised price for the phone itself (i.e. £119 if i renew my contract and get a 24 month contract at £35/month)

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks! :)

For the person who was asking about itunes cards earlier on today, this deal is better than the one at Tesco.

Thanks for that link. It's really valuable for me because I have a £10 Argos gift card that is due to expire so this is great but I do feel obliged to point out that it isn't better than the Tesco offer in terms of discount, it's identical. Argos offer - two £15 cards for £20 = £10 per card. Tesco offer - £15 card for £10 = £10 per card.

I think that's more to do with the profile installations, if you put in the settings manually (and don't care about not having a giffgaff carrier logo) then it should work just fine.
