My current almost 1 year old 3GS has been case free for a year and it looks like I just took it out of the box. I've been wary of scratching it but not overly.

on the vodafone front, it looks like they're currently tinkering around with their website. the fonts on the front page have been set to times new roman and as of a few mins ago the iphone 4 link got directed to the page you'd usually see info about tariffs, etc.

does anybody what delivery company apple use to post things and what is Fast Ship (EMEA) because thats what is on my shipping method, ive searched it on google and on websites it means it coming straight from the factory in china, and if thats correct when should the iphone be posted cuz usually when i get stuff from china it takes around a week to arrive.

Planning to stick with O2, so basically would just be an upgrade.

I am however unsure as to how to go about this! - If I go into my Apple Store (Southampton) on launch day would they be able to arrange me an upgrade?

Or would it be a case of me taking out a whole new contract with O2 and cancelling the existing one?

Apple may not have any in stock at your local Apple Store unless you're there ridiculously early to buy one. You'd be best getting in touch with O2 and explaining you'd like to upgrade.

Try this site if you want to reserve one:

Can anyone think of a good justification to expect white models on day 1 ANYWHERE?

go to your local o2, carphonwarehouse store and ask them. when we asked the sales assistant, he said that they'll have the white on launch. apple might have them too. only way we'll find out is on the 24th

For the iPad the couriers there were TNT and UPS. If you want the full gory details then go and have a look at this thread: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/920057/. It shares a lot in common with this thread, it's a very long thread with a lot of us brits (including me) getting all excited about the iPad shipping, but it gives you blow by blow coverage of who the couriers were and how long each stage of shipping took for various people. It's probably best to dip into the thread at about page 60 by which time people are posting detailed tracking info about where their deliveries are together with timings for each step along the way. There's no guarantee that Apple will ship the new iPhone in a similar manner of course.

So like a few other people... I will be waiting outside a phone shop (in my case o2), this will be the first time ive picked an iPhone up on launch day... now i expect a queue... just wondering how early these queues tend to start developing...... im going to a fairly big City centre branch of o2 so i expect they will have a fair amount of stock.... I was planning to arrive about 3 hours before opening time... is this gonna be enough or would people advise i went even earlier.

I know this is a near impossible question to answer so im more hoping that those who have queued on launch days in the past will be able to advise :D

Thanks

Three hours? I was eight hours early to the 3G launch and I was first in queue, then someone showed up about an hour later. I'd say there will be far bigger demand this time round, so if you want a decent spot, I'd say at least ten hours before. That's what I'm doing anyway.

Wow, this thread grows! Its grown like 100 pages since the iPhone pre-order launch.

Sry, continue your discussions:p

It's spread like wildfire. I've just checked back and found that it has actually grown by an astonishing 157 pages in three days:

(135 > 292 = 157)

It's amazing how much interest in the iPhone 4 there is here in the UK.

Over 7,000 posts and nearly a quarter of a million views in total!

I broke it originally by dropping it which caused the screen to smash. 1st replacement thought it had headphones in all the time so i could only talk on speakerphone and couldn't watch videos etc. The 2nd replacement has a really weird screen... as if someone's turned up the contrast to max and it keeps flashing.

I think they must be replacing them with reconditioned broken iphones... and they must have a rubbish test team

Are you paying for O2 premier insure? If so you are entitled to a brand new handset not a refurb! That's how it was with my 3G anyway. There were 2 types of insurance, the difference was that the expensive insurance guaranteed a new handset. When I claimed I got a brand new sealed box. Call and give them hell.

I've reserved a contract iPhone 4 32GB to be picked up on launch day but I was wondering if it's possible to pay for the handset by credit card and then set up the direct debit on my visa card?
Anyone try this for the 3G/S?

I'm sure you'll be able to do this, as they take your bank details to set up DD separately, then you pay for the iPhone.

Sadly the white has been held back due to a fault, nobody will have it on the 24th.Currently o2 and orange are telling people they will have the white because they have no updated info, carphone warehouse are saying they wont have any and apple stores are now telling people there will be no white on the 24th, also go to apple store uk chat and they will tell you the same thing.Bestbuy in USA have recieved a memo to stop taking preorders for white since they have none, AT&T have confirmed no white, the major German carier confirmed no white as with largest Japanese carrier.

Some info on what best buy are now saying in regards to stopping the white iphone orders in USA...be aware that bestbuy are always on top of their game normally, so expect other stores (read o2, Orange etc ) to follow suite

Will Best Buy® take pre-orders for the white iPhone 4?
No. We have stopped taking pre-orders for the iPhone 4 16GB White (SKU: 1039203) and iPhone 4 32GB White (SKU: 1049294). We stopped taking pre-orders for the white iPhone 4 after Apple stopped taking pre-orders to prevent customer disappointment if inventory is not available.

What if I already pre-ordered a white iPhone 4 at Best Buy®?
If you have already pre-ordered either the iPhone 4 16GB White (SKU: 1039203) or iPhone 4 32GB White (SKU: 1049294), then your pre-order is still valid. You will receive your phone once the store receives the product from Apple. This may or may not be on launch day, June 24th, 2010.

Will Best Buy® receive inventory of the white iPhone 4 on launch day, June 24th, 2010?
This is not guaranteed and is completely dependent on when the product is received from Apple. While we have ordered all versions of the iPhone 4 from Apple, we can only sell what we are provided with.

Essentially, all existing pre-orders for the white versions will still be fulfilled whenever the store receives the inventory from Apple. We do not know when that will be exactly.

Here's hoping Vodafone announce their deals today... then it's just T-Mobile, Three and Virgin left right?

Received my 4 T-Mobile Micro-Sims yesterday, so weekend will be taking the Global Knife to them :)

Hey guys.

Quick question.

I chose to reserve and collect from the Trafford Centre on the 24th.

You know when I sign in to my my Apple ID and look at my reservations for that store should the iPhone show in there or is that just for services such as Genius Bar and One 2 One?

At the end of the day I have my email and I'm getting there early so I have as good a chance as anyone if not better!

Just put me at ease please.

When the 3G launched I turned up in my local city centre (Portsmouth) at 0430 and there were about 12 people in a queue outside O2. I ended up going to CPW (despite my reluctance) and was 2nd in the queue. If I recall correctly, CPW had 3 x 16gb & 8 x 8gb - so be cautious of expecting retailers to have massive allocations of launch day stock.

I thought about pre-ordering the sim free iPhone 4 from Apple a few days back, but decided against it after working out that it is cheaper on contract (if you discount back the future payments on contract). I am not going to queue up on launch day this time, as exciting as it was to get the 3G on launch day I just can't be bothered with that crap this time. I'll see how easy it is to order from one of the carriers on a new contract via phone/web. Good luck to those going to queue and I hope you enjoy it (just remember to take a flask of tea/coffee!).

On a different note - if anyone from the Portsmouth area is reading this post and you're ona network other than O2, what's the reception like in terms of calls & data (predominantly 3G)? O2's 3G in Pompey is rather poor!

Cheers!

I'm going to my local o2 to upgrade. Did it last time and it was fairly painless.

I spoke with the staff the other day and they all agreed that getting there about 5 ish should be fine. I guess this rule done not apply to big city stores where an overnighter may be necessary.

Once youre in it takes about 15 minutes to turn around if you're lucky

Good luck!

This came up yesterday. My view is that product reservations will not show because this feature is specifically for appointments at the Genius Bar etc.
