I have sifted through this thread but couldn't find an answer, could someone tell me if and when the carriers will be starting pre orders?

And specifically Three?

Are we even looking at a June launch from the carriers?

Anyone want to estimate when online orders will start shipping?

Well if they are shipping with UPS for the UK release then we should be looking at two options,

One is leaving China Via air to the UPS Cologne European HUB some time before Tuesday, sorted, loaded and then flown in to the UK East Midlands Airport for Wednesday with a UK roll out on the Thursday from the UPS UK Package Centers.

Or they will travel by ground from China to Germany over the weekend, be sorted and loaded in Germany on Monday/Tuesday and then taken on road over to the UK UPS Tamworth HUB by Wednesday, ready for a UK roll out on the Thursday from the UPS UK Package Centers.

Either way, we should be looking at deliveries from UPS on the 24th of June, just remember that Apple ship Via a Standard service so any iPhone thats going to be delivered on the 24th will be counted as "None Priority, End of Business Day Delivery" which means that you could be waiting as long as until tea time before the driver delivers to your area. UPS do attempt to deliver your package up to 3 times before it gets held in the package center for 5 days, after which it will get returned to Apple if you haven't contacted UPS or collected it from their Package Centre. Also as a side note, Apple have in place a contract that will not allow their items to be left or delivered to a neighbour so make sure you are in on your expected day of delivery ;)

Hope thats helpful to everyone

Not sure about three or t-mobile yet, but Orange, O2 and vodafone are launching on the 24th. None are accepting preorders, though apparently Orange may do in the next few days in store. O2 have said that they aren't taking preorders at all.

If you register for iphone information on the o2 website, you will be sent a micro-SIM. when you get the micro-SIM, you can transfer your number by yourself online, using their website, simply by entering the serial numbers of the SIM cards on the webpage provided.

I hope o2 send out some micro sims, but i think they said something like, they may want to send out to some people before launch. But if not you might just need to go to a store on the day.

Ive cancelled my simplicity and just going to use my £15 txtandweb tariff to get unlimited texts and web (got it before prices went up to £30) and cut it down to size om the day :)

Websites have been reporting that Three are waiting for everyone else to reveal their prices before coming out with theres and undercutting everyone, in terms of price.

Three also said in their first press release that they would be doing pre-orders, but they are still finalising the deal with apple, so it's unsure when or if they will go ahead with that.

Hopefully it will be worth the wait as I still haven't sorted myself out a micro-sim.

They've said they may send you one, but no guarantee it will arrive by launch day for those of us who have ordered from Apple direct. Fingers crossed anyway!

Just spoke to the Glasgow Fort O2 store - they said not to come along on 24th, as they won't have any new iPhones in stock.

;)

Just had this reply from an O2 email about the micro sims:

Thanks for getting in touch about micro SIM.

I'd like to tell you that if you've pre-ordered an iPhone 4G from the
Apple Online Store, Apple will then send iPhone 4G free of charge to
your house on launch day.

To know about the micro SIM , please register for updates at
o2.co.uk/newiphone. We will be publishing information soon on how you
can get a micro SIM before launch day.

Lets hope that they really are trying to manage this properly!

Heads up on iTunes Gift Cards, I'm sure we'll see optimised apps and games soon after release so stock up.

Argos have 2x £15 for £20 in-store only, so Reserve and Collect online

Tesco's are also doing £15 cards for £10 each, got a few yesterday. They scan through at £15 then get £5 deducted before you pay.

Just been into my local O2 store in hanley the salesman said they have the new sims in now but are not giving out yet said i would be able to call in on thursday with my new iphone that i have bought from apple and they will swap the number over to the new sim. He also said if i call in say Monday /Tuesday might be able to do it then as they are awaiting new instructions from head office.

O2 iPad sim just arrived tried the simswap but it says invalid serial, so in my case the iPad sim didn't work

Currently using iPhone 3G with Vodafone sim only tariff.

I just rang them up stating that I have pre ordered iPhone 4 from Apple, but will need a microsim.
Guy spoke to said they will be sending me micro sim today and I should have it on Monday. Just got text confirming delivery too :)

Just called Vodafone again too having called them as recently as last night with no success and this time they knew exactly what I was talking about and agreed to send me a micro sim for my existing contract with delivery in 3 to 5 working days. Looks like they now have a new process in place for existing contracts. At last!

Same In Worcester They Are Close Thursday Apparently ;)

Bromsgrove's the same too.... probably like it all across Worcestershire.

I wouldn't plan on trying to get one now from round here... you need to head as far away as possible to get one now ;)

It's an amazing thread this, gives me a real warm feeling to read it. It's great to see all you guys pulling together and making sure everyone knows the best places to get a phone. It's the blitz mentality all over again. ;)

Where will you be getting your sim from, o2 or Apple? I hope Apple will be doing sim swaps for people who are just buying them simfree.

Also I haven't been to the MK Apple store before, even though I live down the road in Luton. But if a major Apple store was to be getting a white iPhone will MK be on the list, or do you think it's too small of a store and it'll be going to the bigger stores?

(Read: I am not asking if the white iPhone is coming out!)

Try giving them a call. Couldn't hurt.
