hey guys i saw yesterday some people said i wont be able to do an o2 upgrade to iphone4 in the apple store as o2 werent supported or something. Is this still the case as i need to know since im getting the iphone4 off an upgrade and done want to have to start a total new contract to get it. Thanks !

I reserved mine at Victoria Square and I'll be down around half 12 to pick it up....don't fancy queueing if I can get away with it!

Ha! Exactly same plan as me will be taking a long lunch to pop across to Victoria Square - going to see Pearl Jam the night before so not too keen on the early start plus I figure it gives a few hours to guarantee everything will be running a bit more smoothly.

i was told by someone very helpful at O2 (rare i know) that you can transfer you tariff onto a micro sim...either via Itunes or by calling O2

There is no way that iTunes can transfer a tarrif from one sim to another. I think the two options are calling o2 or filling out an online form.

Hi,

As we all are aware by now, the only differences with the tariffs is the data allowance.

What are everyones thoughts/opinions on the networks retaining business? I could phone o2 and say I am leaving because I want 1GB data. My average is approx 600MB a month and that includes things like meebo, facebook and downloading apps. I wonder if o2 will give me the extra 500MB add on for free to stop me from going to Voda.

What do you all think? Part of me feels they will take the attitude of 'do you want to be with o2? If not then go elsewhere and get your iPhone'.

I'm wondering the same thing, I'm with Vodafone and I've got a feeling they'll not budge even if I say I'm going after 10+ years with them.

…Question is, do I want 1GB of data, or Orange Wednesdays. :)
I guess it spends on how much you like taking someone to the pictures

Shy bairns get no sweeties – and what have you got to lose?

That said, I think the chances are very, very slim. A major reason is that both fixed and mobile networks are having trouble with the amount of data people are accessing and are looking to reduce it.

Slightly off-topic, I also read one article suggesting that Ofcom might stop mobile and fixed networks from using the term ‘fair usage’ as it’s increasingly misleading.

I assume o2 will keep a micro sim for every iPhone, it'd be idiotic to do otherwise surely?

Who remmebers OhMac? LOL.

They'll pull something again me thinks.

heh yeah the old days (two whole years ago...)
There are already loads of "interesting" listings on eBay - especially the ones that "guarantee" you a white iPhone 4 on the 25th of June...

sorry but wtf?

i thought if you got an unlocked iphone from apple, you could get a microsim, or cut up an old one and use it in the iphone with whatever payg tariff u want?

I'm gettin it unlocked from apple, and was going to go askin for microsim from o2 for PAYG, and if not i was going to cut up the sim im usin the now. so will this not work :S? or is it just the bolt on u mean??

I was specifically asking him about the bolt-on... he said that wouldn't work anymore, but I can't see why it wouldn't. He said I would need to use the Text & Web Pay & Go tariff... but Your Country suits me much better.

they said it would be fine and all i had to do was bring my current phone in, however that was on the day reservations went live and sicne then people have said there apple stores arent going to allow o2 upgrades : / not sure what to think

I think they will run a check on you but I know students and people who are unemployed and have still been able to take out phone contracts so I don't think it will be too much of a problem, just take a bank statement, a Driving license/passport or both and a pay slip from work if u have one.

Ok cool, thanks! Still haven't made up my mind about what method I want to take yet, it's annoying O2 are holding out on PayG prices for launch :(

dunno who to go with, I'm thinkin voda or O2 I'm after a 18 month contract for £30/35 max dunno what to do :confused:

I was just thinking the same, but then what do you do after the 18 month? either get next years iPhone 5 when it's only 6 months to iPhone 6 comes out, or go onto SIM only for 6 months, which'll probably work out more than the 24 month contract would cost you now. Tricky decisions.

found this thought it was a nice over look of all the pricings so far

btw the way the "sorry wtf?" wasn't meant to be mean towards you. more like "WTF O2 >.<" ahah  apologies.

but im so glad you were talking bout the bolt on. I actually cancelled my web&wifi bolt on today, i was going to consider keeping it, but as i'm with text&web i can get the unlimited texts - unlimited web for £15 whereas i'd be paying an £25 to keep the bolt on, no point keeping it if i have unlimited web. i dont use the wifi (bt openzone...mainly because i can never get it working haha)

looks like my plans still good to go then :) chopped up a spare sim an tried it in a spare phone there and works perfectly :) so i'll be doing the same to my current sim if i cant get any micro sims from o2 (to transfer my current number/tariff over):)

Have tweeted - again - at o2 asking when I'll get my [expletive deleted] micro sim. Bet it arrives tomorrow if I phone retentions.

o2 site says iphones will have micro sims in them. You then go to a page on o2's website and type in your phone number and new microsim number and it will transfer your number.

People, where did todays O2 Micro Sim info and confirmations come from?
Like the 1st 50,000 people who registered get one on mon/tuesday and the fact all o2 stores will have them for free?
I've read through all the pages for todays posts but there were no sources...
Thats GREAT news if all confirmed!
Thanks

Just requested PAC code from O2.

Firstly they asked why I was leaving so I pointed out the 500MB of data for the iPhone 4.

They then said theres nothing they can offer on that at the moment as the handsets aren't out but he could reduce my tariff to £10 a month in the mean time.

I said dont bother as the phones out next week so not really much point but may be scope for others later to get more data out of them?

I was thinking of doing the same, if i request a PAC code but decide in the end to stick with o2 it dosent mean i have to leave does it ? as i dont want to have no option.

I've just had the best phone call ever. i called T-mobile to ask about when if ever we could pre-order on their network. They told me that they obviously didn't know anything and to register my interest on their web site.

Next, they said that they would be calling everyone who'd registered. When I asked them if that meant say 100,000 people had asked for information and to be called that they would call everyone and they said yes.

I tried to pint out that you'd never be able to call that many people, they were adamant that they could. It was a real computer says no moment. I didn't laugh, but it was very hard.
T-Mobile are being such a bunch of jerks. I had a laughable experience in my local shop where the guy in the shop tried to convince me, in quite a bullying and condescending manner, that no UK network was going to be issuing micro-SIMs. I then pulled out of my wallet a micro-SIM with Orange branding all over it that I'd just been given (OK, that was an iPad data-only SIM, but the guy was too stupid to know the difference and we all know that other networks are issuing the real voice/phone ones).

I still think that T-Mobile have the best PAYG data deal, and I am with them at the moment so it would save me a PAC operation by staying, but they've p***ed me off so much that I'm going to Orange.
