aren't the iphones coming straight from the factory in china im sure thats what "Fast Ship (EMEA)" means, and if they get shipped on tuesday from china im sure they wont get here on thursday, when i pre ordered the ipad for 28th may launch it was shipped 6 days before on 22nd,
Hi Mikey - would you mind elaborating on that? At this stage 3G coverage in Belfast and N. Ireland is my main deciding factor between O2 and Vodafone.
Cheers,
Ryan
Well my iPad came from China and that took about 5 days to get here. It was dispatched on the 22nd and was delivered on the 27th (day before official UK release). If the iPhones are also coming direct from China then I expect they will either be shipping today or tomorrow to get here for Thursday.
My pre-order (from the first batch and due on the 24th) still says Not yet shipped though...
do you get a mains charger with iphone 4 or just a crappy usb cable ?
Can I ask this question please, sorry if it is stupid, I am just very confused over O2 and their change from unlimited to capped data.
If I take out an O2 Simplicity deal before June 24th with unlimited data, will I keep it for the duration of the contract? If so, I have my PAC code ready and waiting and might as well do that now and then pic up an iPhone PAYG from O2.
Thanks![]()
I live and work in east belfast, I can mostly always get a good strong 3G signal while in Belfast and always great Edge coverage but with Vodafone a few of my friends barely get 3G or Edge and can even be on GPRS at times which is just ridiculous.
Not sure if its already been posted, i remember it being discussed but not concluded. If you buy a pay and go iPhone from the apple store it will be locked. It says at the bottom of the order confirmation for those who preordered for delivery.
"An iPhone purchased at the Apple Online Store with the Pay & Go service from O2 can be used only with an O2 SIM. Should you choose to return your iPhone for any reason within 14 calendar day remorse period of receiving your order, and you have activated your iPhone, please read your contract with O2 for any refund you may be entitled on your credit.
An iPhone purchased at the Apple Online Store with the Pay as you go service from Orange can be used only with an Orange SIM. Should you choose to return your iPhone for any reason within 14 calendar day remorse period of receiving your order, and you have activated your iPhone, please read your contract with Orange for any refund you may be entitled on your credit."
It mentions nothing about the other networks but i imagine they will follow suit.
I'm on the iphone simplicity 600mins and 1200 txts UNLIMITED internet, mms takes 4 sms's, rolling for 30days all for £20
Just phoned and they confirmed in October there will be NO change at all. Apparently o2 cannot change my tariff as we've signed the deal even unless i change tariffs, o2 can't back out of the T&C according to the rep.
lucky me!
anyone in the same boat?

When you purchase your iPhone from the Apple Online Store, youll get it SIM-free. So you can sign up for service with the carrier of your choice and change your carrier at any time
Buy your iPhone from
Apple SIM-free.
It works with the carrier of your choice.
Buy your iPhone from the Apple Online Store and choose your own GSM carrier. You can change carriers at any time.

That's the tariff I've been on since January. Was considering changing to the £15 12 month one, but noticed the change to a 20p charge for MMS, and the 300mins would be a bit close to my usage so I decided to stick with my current £20 one.I'm on the iphone simplicity 600mins and 1200 txts UNLIMITED internet, mms takes 4 sms's, rolling for 30days all for £20

Hi guys, looooong time lurker first time poster.
I just got off the phone to a nice lady in staff accounts at o2 regarding the friends and family discount (staff member discount, not o2 open) who told me the following:
- At this moment in time there is no news on whether they will be able to offer the friends and family discount on iP4 from next week, but she said that that may change over the next few days.
- If they are offering the discount, you can only upgrade (or take out a new contract) with the discount at an o2 store. You'll need to take the employee number with you as before, so that rules out upgrading at an Apple store whilst keeping your discount.
- I also asked if i could transfer to a business tariff and keep the friends and family discount, but they do not offer that discount on business tariffs.
- However, i was able to downgrade my tariff over the phone to the current iPhone plans, ie not the new iP4 ones. You can only drop one tariff at a time, but I've kept my unlimited data (hooray!), but will be charged for MMS and international texts though (boo!). I also enquired about visual voicemail and was told that it would be included in my minutes so i will NOT be charged for them as a previous poster was told.
- I then spoke to someone in the o2 home broadband and asked him about the iPad microsim that i received today. He told me that i could try it but i'm better off holding out for a iP4 microsim which you can get from Monday.
I also went to the Liverpool One store yesterday and enquired about the white phones. The specialist told me that there was some sort of manufacturing problem but that they should have some on the 24th. I asked whether i could swap my reserved black one for a white one and he said that as long as there is stock then it shouldn't be a prob.
Hopefully this info will be useful to some people and apologies for the long first post.
And is anyone here going to the Liverpool store next week?
Normal Simplicity doesn't, iPhone Simplicity does - under the O2 tariff pages for the new iPhone, this is confirmed.
Vodafone are meant to be introducing it, but no idea what tariffs this would be on for free.
