Fair enough, I've a carphone warehouse feet from my flat so I'll maybe phone them on Monday and see what the score is - and post my 3g off to the lovely mazuma.

Am I reading that right? You have a CPW a few feet from your flat, yet are still going to call them? If so, haha, laziness FTW!

Lol, I'm off to Ireland this weekend till Tuesday so hence the reason I can't visit - dont worry the second I'm back in the country I'll be popping in to see them. They are notorious for running out of stock so they better not with this one!

Unfortunately, I missed the reserve window and couldn't reserve my one on time.
The O2 store as far as I am aware is not selling pay as you go and the Orange ones will be network locked (I believe?).
How early do you guys think I have to get to the store to get my hands on one of those?

no credit check, they'll just update the system for you to start another contract

Is this the same for orange? Im in the middle of a contract just now & im kinda hoping they do something similar to what O2 did when the 3G iphone came out, you signed up for another 2 years etc...

What about T Mobile if you are on a Solo Sim deal & decide to change over to an 18/24 month iphone contract? Will there be a credit check? I think there is some sort of credit check for the rolling solo sim but maybe its more intense for a longterm contract?

does anybody know can you do 2 forms of payment - cash and credit card/debit card?

I called the Apple store about this earlier, the lady told me that, while they don't accept cash straight up for the iPhone, what they do is put it on a bunch of store vouchers which you can then use, on their own or in conjunction with a card.

knew ud be from glasgow soon as a read that lol

O2 have been pathetic imho no payg and selling only to existing customers for a month!? They wanna go out of business?

Trust me...if i cant get a o2 payg sim up and running on my iphone on thursday ill be popping in to orange :) ive been an o2 customer before they even were called o2 (one2one a think) and this is the way they treat us!?

:D That's the thing I like about this little "sub forum" we've created within MacRumors, we can use little local slang terms and there are other members from the same city who can and do pick up on it.

I won't be picking my iPhone 4 until July 24th. I sold my iPhone 3G for £200 to my best mate, and that money is sitting on an Apple Store gift card so the wife doesn't find it and spend it. :D

Next month when I get paid, I'll head along to the Apple Store and pay the other £300 along with the £200 on my Apple gift card ... sorted.

I just don't like the whole scenario with these Micro SIM's. I phoned O2 and asked to have a Micro SIM sent out, they said they were "unable to action my request". I told them that I filled in the form online, but it said not all customers would receive a Micro SIM ... again, totally unclear and confusing.

My reckoning is that when you buy the iPhone 4 from the Apple Store, you don't get ANY Micro SIM with the phone ... you're buying it SIM free, so the onus is on YOU to get a Micro SIM, carrier, and tariff sorted.

And, no matter how much I watch YouTube videos showing how "easy" it is to trim down your normal SIM to Micro SIM size, there's still a part of me that "***** masel".

if your already on a contract and just upgrading they will not do a credit check, I dont know anything about tmobile solo sim deal, is it payg or contract?

Im now going to remove this site from my bookmarks. Im on here too much worrying bout this phone : /

Im getting iphone unlocked from apple that i reserved. Im going to try get a microsim from o2 or orange for payg. If not im cutting a sim up. Going for either textandweb or payg simplicity. If that doesnt work ill be going to orange.

I love apple and this site but thanks to apple and o2 its a complete mess. Dont even no if am guarenteed an iphone and dont even no, if i get an iphone if ill be able to use a network on it!

See you on the 25th :)

Oddly enough, I just hinted on that topic with my previous post.

I've got £200 on an Apple Store gift card from when I sold my 3G to my mate.

I confirmed with the Apple Store that what will happen when I come in for my iPhone 4 is that I'll have to pay £299 onto another gift card and pay for the iPhone with both cards.

I had asked if I could pay £299 by debit card and use the £200 on the gift card, but she told me that only the full price of the iPhone can be paid by debit or credit card.

O2 have said today that they will give them out in store from Monday if you have a pre order email confirmation. When you get your phone in July, just wander down to an O2 shop with it, wave it at them, and they'll give you one.

Really? This could cause some problems for me. I have a student mastercard which has a limit and my debit card is a laser card which i was told wouldn't work. i was hoping to have some stirling and put the rest on my mastercard.
Will have to ring the store in Belfast tomorrow to check it out

I would consider it halfway, more than a PAYG & Not commited to a longterm contract, you need to give 30 days notice at anytime to leave! I love TMobile, my hubby is on the fixed solo sim & im trying to presuade him to take a contract & get an iPhone coz I canny understand why he thinks his Blackberry is superior to the iPhone???? CRAZY or what?

I popped into my local O2 shop (York) this afternoon to ask about a few things.

Amusingly, the chap I spoke to didn't know that they were to hand out microsims from Monday. He told me that they would only be available from launch day. I told him it said so on the website, and he said they probably wouldn't be told until Monday. Great when the customers are better informed than the staff!

They're opening at 8.02 (clever, eh?) on Thursday, and he said that 2-3000 people had already asked for info at that branch alone!

Regarding stock, he said that on launch day for the 3G they had about 200, and for the 3GS they had about 20. Guess I'll need to get there early!

It was the Belfast store that I rang. :)

sorry if this has been covered.

So there is no o2 PAYG on launch day, I reserved a PagG phone at the apple store.

Will I be able to buy a SIM free one now?

look on the apple site, they are sim free, they dont do payasyougo at the moment.

yes but i specifically reserved a PAYG phone. When reserving i was given three options,

PAYG
Pay monthly
SIM free

I choose PAYG.

Want to be 100% sure there will be a handset there for me. I assume for the PAYG option apple were planning to just register a sim free phone to a network for you on the spot, now they dont need to do this I guess...handset is the same either way...
