I realise it says this is for pre-orders, but has anyone asked if they'll be giving them out early to people with store reservations?

O2 have been pathetic imho no payg and selling only to existing customers for a month!? They wanna go out of business?

Trust me...if i cant get a o2 payg sim up and running on my iphone on thursday ill be popping in to orange :) ive been an o2 customer before they even were called o2 (one2one a think) and this is the way they treat us!?

One 2 One (One 2 No One more like) is actually now T-Mobile.
O2 used to be BT Mobile.

I'm in York too Sandy, and had exactly the same conversation with the same guy today about Micro Sims! The bald/shaven headed guy with the white shoes? I queued up last year from about 6am and was 3rd in the queue. There will be lots more people this time I reckon. I'm getting mine from Apple.

If you have some kind of confirmation you can print out then they might. The guy in the O2 shop said that they would be sending sims to those who registered interest online on Tuesday/Wed next week, but couldn't guarantee one for everyone. If not then when you pick up your phone from Apple just walk to the nearest O2 shop with it and you'll get one.

Is it definite that both the PAYG and SIM Free iP4's from Apple retail store on launch day will be unlocked (for life)?

If this is the case, and the probability that the PAYG phone will likely be slightly cheaper than the SIM Free one (according to the Apple store I was in a few days ago), why would you buy a SIM Free one over a PAYG one?

Haha. Yeah, that was the same chap I spoke to. I'm getting one from Apple too, but now the wife says that she wants one! I reckon I might go for 4am, or earlier?

Just the kind of person I'm looking for! I'm from York too, although I use the Designer Outlet - no one would happen to know the store manager's name (Allan...[Insert Surname Here) - oldish man, who doesn't seem to smile much... or e-mail address??

Bit slow...? Why clever? And 2-3000, really? Is not just some marketing ploy?
 
Hmm. If this thing is shipping from Shenzhen then it should be doing so this weekend for a Thursday delivery

Why do you want to know his name or email address?

8.02! And he only said that 2-3000 people had been asking about it. I guess that most of those people won't be hardcore like me and camp out through the night with my iPad and flask of coffee!

It was pretty quiet until an hour before opening last year, there were maybe 20 people in the queue when we went in. I'd say pre 5am and you'd defo get one. There's always Carphone Warehouse just up the road too. Last year their manager came down the road and poached a load of customers from the O2 queue, because they opened half an hour earlier. We banged on the window to tell the O2 guys, and they ran down the road after the customers to get them back! It was funny.

I want to check with him about iPhone 4's and how many they'll have, he's also my account manager so I want to know if he could help me out, but I don't want a phone answer, I feel I'd get a better, more knowledgeable answer over email seen as he can take more time and potentially be given more info while writing it :)

Oh, and I get the O2 bit now - how embarrassing ;)

lol..my local O2 and CPW shops are opposite each other...same thing happened when the 3G launched...hilarious :D
 
Everyone talking about MicroSIM's - just remember you can cut the regular SIM down, even if it's just temp.

No, it is not definite for PAYG. The suspicion is they might lock them at purchase time if going onto a contract/PAYG, and only leave sim free if buying outright. But fact is, none of us know for sure.

For the size of the Belfast store...this i4 launch looks like its going to dwarf the opening :D
