Has Vodafone said anything regarding micro sims? I have purchased the iPhone from Apple and am thinking of taking out a Sim only deal from Vodafone. If I order this online I take it they will just send out a normal sized sim? how will I then get this changed to the micro sim? could I just pop in to one of their stores and get them to swap it over?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, am I right in thinking that I will be able to pick the contract I want in the apple store on lauch day? From any of the providers and pay there handset cost for that tariff as if I was in a vodaphone or orange store.

Reconditioned 3GS iPhones are selling at £449 at O2. There is a pathetic 8GB version for £419. The refurbished 3G costs the same as the new one did before. There is no more unlimited mobile internet.

This whole iPhone mania is just crazy. I almost sold my 3G with unlimited mobile internet until September than I realised that Apple has been pushing up prices recently and every time I tried to sell my Apple hardware before a new launch, I saw increasing prices. To me, it started with a white mid-range MacBook. That was still cheaper than the current entry-level plastic MB, despite the fact that in 2006, a 2GHz MB with 1GB RAM was not even the cheapest MB.

This milking is getting annoying. I'll wait until September, than I'll sell this glorified version of an iPod Touch.

Wow, £449 for a reconditioned 3gs is outrageous. Even the 8gb new 3gs at £419 seems far too expensive. Who would bother going for these options when they could spend a bit more and get an iphone 4?

Can I ask, seeing as a few peeps have mentioned reserving their phones, how they are doing it? O2 won't reserve and it's take a chance going in to see if they have any, or ring up each day to see if any are in stock.

I think the ones who have reserved it have done it through apple for the sim-free handset, paying the full whack £499/599.

wow

I was hoping to hear something like one hour. :D
I have never been to an Apple launch event, I hope there aren't many people there, as after all this is Brighton.
The store is inside the mall (Churchill Square) I wonder what time they will open the malls doors.

And being Brighton it'll be mobbed. Have you ever been past the store? What do you mean 'as after all this is Brighton'. It'd have been where I was if I wasn't going on holiday that day.

Love the thread by the way, lost so many hours to it since Tuesday night.

uh not quite. We reserved through Apple, to pick up in store on the 24th, but you could register for either sim free, PAYG or contract and do any of the 3 in store on the day :) No credit card details, no money has changed hands, and no obligation to actually buy if you don't want to.

Unfortunately you've missed the boat by a long way now - they're well out of reservations :(

Well I managed to pre-order a sim-free one but I did it quite late so it's not due to be shipped until July 14th :(

Taken from the o2 website

O2 was formed in 2001...

Actually... before O2 was BT Cellnet (my first mobile phone) but the company has been around since 1985

£500 and £600 - that is laptop territory for many. This is just ridiculous.

I liked the idea of the new iPhone, but at this price it's a massive failure.

Everybody can do electronics. The trick is to create something at the right price. Half a grand for a phone is not very cool.

Well what i mean is that Brighton inst a big place like London so I dont think it will be full specially so early in the morning but then again its always full so I dont know.
I just hope I get there in time to get my iPhone :)

I've not reserved/pre-ordered one, will there still be chance of picking one up on Thursday morning if I queue really early?

I lived in Brighton when the iPhone 3G launched. I went along to o2 on George St in Hove for when it opened at 8am thinking no one would be there - there was a big queue. The queue at Carphone Warehouse on Western Road at 8am was about 40 people deep.

I'd imagine launch day will be busy in Brighton.

Just asked that question a few pages back as I am in the same situation as you I was told that I should get to the store 3 - 4 hours early to grantee one on release!

Anyone from the UK lucky enough to get their iPhone prepared for shipment yet? Check your order status at apple.COM and not the UK site.

Nothing on mine... grrr I ordered at 9:30ish on Tuesday aswell. Heres hoping it might start it's journey to me tomorrow =D

Nope my brother's was one of the first I presume at 9.20 or whenever it would let us order but not prepared or my personal one at about 4pm. Some of the US ones have started so maybe tomorrow (Saturday).

Mine is still 'not shipped', and my order was placed at 9:20
