Hey Guys, is there any verification to the rumour that Best Buy will be stocking and are opening up at midnight? Seems a bit too good to be true...

This makes me worry they might run out of stock for preorders, especially with the rumours that there's been some supply issues.

Will I be able to set up a new O2 contract in the Apple store and will they give me a micro sim? Or will I have to set up a contract beforehand and just stick my sim in the iPhone?

dont think apple are allowing contracts, you might need to check that. I've heard they are just selling the unlocked handset, you could just get the handset and then start a new contract with o2?:)

yep they are stocking and havent heard about the midnight rumour lol, would be good but don't think its true, but best buy are definitely stocking the device :)

Apple stores will be doing contracts, upgrades, payg and sim free.

This is all subject to the carriers systems holding up though.. everyone all over the uk will be trying to do it at the same time!

Apple are just selling the handsets. You will have to go to a carrier's store to get the SIM.

You can get your micro SIM now, as they have been around for years. Unsure why Apple makes them out to be new technology.

I'm a bit confused about this. I ordered, and will be picking up, a PAYG iP4 on Thursday from Apple. Are you saying, even though it is a PAYG handset, there will be no SIM included, so I will have to get a PAYG micro SIM from O2 myself to use in it?

If that's the case, then it's not really a PAYG handset, it's a SIM free handset, surely.

If I walk into my local O2 store on Monday and ask for a PAYG micro SIM (with my Apple order printout), is there a charge for this?

Does it come with 12 months free internet/wifi?

Do I have to state that it is for use in an iP4?

I can't believe that with only 5 days to go, there are still so many unanswered questions over the whole launch. Really, what is to be gained by al of this cloak and dagger stuff?

IPad Micro-SIMs are data only, no voice!

If you've been following this thread then you would know you are wrong. An unregistered iPad sim can be used to sim swap to. You must be on PAYG to do it, NOT contract.

This has been confirmed working 100% by posters here

This makes me worry they might run out of stock for reservations, especially with the rumours that there's been some supply issues.

Will I be able to set up a new O2 contract in the Apple store when I get my reservation and will they give me a micro sim? Or will I have to set up a contract beforehand and just stick my sim in the iPhone?
Edit: sorry, meant reservations, not preorders

I'm assuming that the reason they took pre-orders is to know how many to deliver to the Belfast store. And I really wouldn't be surprised if the Belfast store had the highest amount of pre-orders because it's the only one in Ireland.

And I think you will be able to set up a new contract in the Apple Store; they offered to do that when I picked up my iPad 3G. Just be sure to bring all the relevant docs.

the phone from apple is NOT payg, its sim free meaning unlocked with no sim, so you have to get the sim from the network either ON payg or contract. no it doesnt come with the wi-fi, the micro sim should be free :), they will only give the micro sim assuming it is for ip4, no other phone uses it atm

I thought it was just the sim free seeing as there are so many networks, I guess we will find out on thursday :)

So why did I get the option to reserve a PAYG iP4 on the Apple website if it isn't PAYG?

I thought I read earlier in this thread that the iP4 O2 PAYG included 12 months free internet/wifi. Is that now not the case?

Like I said....getting more confusing by the day

I've reserved a White one at the Orange store for pickup on Pay and Go.

Got Orange to send me a Micro-SIM which was a pain, get to transfer my number onto it.

I'm led to believe that the SIM free from Apple once a SIM has been inserted / activated it locks the phone to that network? Anyone know if that's true...

Thanks.

have you got a screen shot? if the iPhone is from o2, then there is the internet/wi-fi but they havent even announced their price for the payg iphone 4 on their network. my guess is you have reserved a sim free iphone seeing as they are the only options :) I reserved mine, should be coming on the 24th :)

well done on the reservation, the white one looks awesome. and the second bit, not true, its sim free meaning ANY sim can be used :)

If so what sort of time people gonna be getting there.

I have rung the store and they couldn't tell me what time they be opening
