So do all the micro sims come with a free adaptor?

judging from people's reply on this forum, I would say that o2 don't give you an adapter but I think they give it you for free if you ask, but orange include one with their micro sims. no news on voda and god help us for 3, they will probably tell us to go to mumbai to collect them lol

just to confirm to people.........i received a micro sim today from orange which i requested on wednesday........and i just phoned them up 2 hours ago to transfer my number over to it (as i had a slight doubt it may have been an ipad sim).......but i have just turned it back on after they told me to leave it off for 2 hours......and i have a fully working phone with my micro sim (and adaptor) inside....happy days....bring on THURSDAY!! :D

Brilliant mate! I spoke to several cs and iPhone tech support guys and got to nowhere they wouldn't supply me with a micro-sim and certainly couldn't do an internal number transfer. So as I don't take no for an answer I emailed Tom Alexander (Orange CEO) got a call from his team and the rest is history. New Micro-SIM on it's way!

I just went to a Vodafone store and I signed up for the iPhone 4, they'll call me 'hopefully' on the 24th to ask me whether I still want it or not and go pick that up. MicroSIMs will be available on launch date.

I signed up on a list where there were already hundred people or so!

I've been on O2 PAYG never used Vodafone and I live in East London, I'm going to get an 18 months contract, any of you ever have been on Vodafone and regret it? I wonder if would be better stay with O2.

I am in East London too, which VF store was that ?

Cheers

goodo....ive been rather luckier than most people here it seems.....dont know why but every time i call them (probably called orange 4 times since wednesday)....i get a very helpful person who knows what they are talking about and as i said....wednesday i phoned them, got it delivered that day.....arrived today, phoned them today and got my number transfered to the new microsim......they were very very helpful, i feel sorry for ppl who seem to be getting customer service agents who dont seem to know anything. Glad ur ok now tho!

I've been dipping in and out of reading this now massive thread, but feel very confused by all this talk of Micro-SIMs. I have a 32gb reserved at the Cambridge Apple Store for Thursday, and am planning on upgrading on O2, my current contract having expired. Now surely the Apple Store itself will be stocking micro-sims for this purpose. They have already stated that they are doing PAYG, Pay Monthly, and SIM-Free in stores, and to do the first two they must have the requisite SIM cards in store.

I'm pretty sure you only need your own microsim if your buying a sim free iPhone.

i dont know but mine did.....if ur with orange i just phoned them, asked for one and they luckily just received stock of them wednesday.....the same day they revealed their prices......its a sim only pay monthly micro sim by the way. i'm on dolphin 15.

what are your allowances on that plan?

Guys.

I followed a link posted here for a O2 Micro Sim.

Low and behold one came today! But it says it's for iPad. Will this work?

If not it's not the end of the world because I will just drop by O2 when I collect my phone on Thursday. If not or I have to wait around I can just use that micro Sim as a template for cutting my current sim!

Based on previous launches, how long does everybody expect the lines to be, and therefore how long does everybody expect the wait to be, if you get there around 7:30AM?

Thanks.

It will work if you just used the sim card. However, if you are a Pay Monthly customer and want to use that new micro sim, it wont work.

If you are a PAYG customer, you can transfer your number to it and it should work.

Damn this post has gone crazy!

I'm sure this has been answered, but there's just too much to look through here. I'm planning on getting my micro-sim and adapter tomorrow from o2 - I guess I just switch the numbers over to the new sim, wait - and then Thursday when I get the new iPhone, plug the micro-sim into the new phone, upgrade my contract, and bosh? All working and ready to go from day 1?
:D

this line is going to be the biggest one to date by the looks of it and that time should be fine :) if the store opens at say 8 or 9 =]

it used to be £15 for 200 mins and unlimited texts........30 days rolling contract.....i added a £5 bolt on for 500 meg data.........but with the iphone i need to scrap that and add a £10 data plan which gives me unlimited data (fair usage if 750 meg but wont charge me if i go over.....unless of constant repeat offences i guess)

so yea now i'm paying £25 a month for 200 mins unlimited texts and unlimited data......but i dont think i'll stay on it for long cos o2 is cheaper although they dont have unlimited data now.

Apple Store at 8AM. Hopefully, I won't have to wait more than 1 hour after opening. Hoping to get one on Orange Pay Monthly.

why don't you just go on 3 where you get 300 mins, unlimited texts, unlimited data, cant remember what the fair use limit is, free 3-3, free twitter, msn, skype, voicemail, all for £15 a month 30 day rolling contract, thats what I'm planning to go on from the 24th when I get my new iPhone 4 :)

Gah!

I'm a pay monthly customer!

if its for iPad then no because it doesnt support voice - phone calls and texts. just pop into o2 :)

i probably will sooner or later, but for now i just wanted a fully working phone on thursday when i get it.........so i just wanted to stay where i was for a bit.....but when the madness has all calmed down, i'll assess my future dealings later.........but i do go to the cinema a lot and i will miss orange 2 for 1 wednesdays if i leave.....save a shed load on that!

:D

That's what I tried today, after phoning up and asking if I could have one, only to turn up and be told I couldn't have one until thursday, despite what their website says!

Phone a couple of other stores saying they had them and would give them out on monday!

Would recommend to phone up and directly ask if you can have one first!

Does anyone know of a link on the o2 site where i can get an ipad sim sent out via post, so i can use it for my PAYG iphone 4. I did register my interest in a sim, which may be sent out before launch day, but im not sure if i can transfer onto that one to use as PAYG.

Edit... mind you, its unlocked, so which is my quickest route to get a payg micro sim?

o2 micro sim

If anyone is looking for a good app to track apple orders take a look at this one

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/delivery-status-touch-package/id290986013?mt=8

Saves having to log into the apple order page every 5 mins ;)

You can also get this as a widget, then its free!

Went into 02 shop today and asked for a micro sim, he was gonna give me it till he asked if i had pre registered, i said yes (oops), so then he wouldnt give me it as he said they are running out. He said all those who pregistered will receive a microsim in the post on Tuesday.

Then went to 2 other o2 shops to try get one and they all refused (one had none left, the other wanted me to come back on Tuesday).

o2 did say my current simplicity tariff, with unlimited data, will continue.

Anyways, get a sim card, snap it out to the mini sim, move your number over to it and then when when new iphone comes along snap out the micro sim part of it.

Based on their track record, i am worried than on Thursday the o2 number porting process will crash!

you can't use your ipad sim in an iPhone 4, the iPad sim doesnt support voice - phone calls and text, only data.
