Is there any chance of the White iPhone 4 being available on release date from either Apple or O2 if i was to go down and queue?

Does anyone know if you'll need id to upgrade in o2 stores. My driving license and passport have a different address to what my o2 account is registered to as I've recently moved?

Any ideas on what I should do? I do have plenty of utilty bills with my mew address but no photo id!

All help would be appreciated?

I've reserved a White one at the Orange store for pickup on Pay and Go.

Got Orange to send me a Micro-SIM which was a pain, get to transfer my number onto it.

I'm led to believe that the SIM free from Apple once a SIM has been inserted / activated it locks the phone to that network? Anyone know if that's true...

Thanks.

No. It clearly says on the Apple website "you can change carriers at any time"

the phones from apple are sim free so unlocked so you can use with ANY network but with NO sim so looks like you're gonna have to go down to the stores and try and get one, o2 is looking promising for monday :)

Apple are just selling the handsets. You will have to go to a carrier's store to get the SIM.

You can get your micro SIM now, as they have been around for years. Unsure why Apple makes them out to be new technology.

hmm they may have, but you might find you have to go to your chosen network supplier and ask for one, and even then they might have to mail it to you. I suggest you call your contact centre this week and get them to ship you one with your account ported

Cheers for the replies guys. I just want to understand this before I head off on Thursday.

I am currently on a iPhone 3GS Contract, and have a 16GB iPhone 4 reserved in an Apple Store on Thursday. I want to use the early upgrade offer, and then go onto the O2 £45 a month tariff. (24 months)

So I need to get a Micro SIM before Thursday, and then Apple will be able to upgrade me in store? What would happen if I turned up without a Micro SIM?

Thanks

have you got a screen shot? if the iPhone is from o2, then there is the internet/wi-fi but they havent even announced their price for the payg iphone 4 on their network. my guess is you have reserved a sim free iphone seeing as they are the only options :) I reserved mine, should be coming on the 24th :)

I reserved mine to collect at store, rather than get delivered.

I don't have a screenshot of the order page, as I ordered it on my iPad at 9am, but it definitely gave me a choice of either a PAYG or a SIM free, as I ordered 2 (and received two confirmations), as I didn't know which to go for, so I reserved 2 of them, one PAYG and one SIM free.

I hadn't planned on buying both, but I might just get the second one aswell and my missus can have it.

I have a 32GB iP4 reserved at Meadowhall but won't be able to pick it up until about 4pm at the earliest - thats no issue.

I'm planning on getting the twelve month £15 p/m Simplicity with O2 on Monday along with a Microsim. If I walk into my local O2 store and show them my reservation email on my iPhone should I be able to upgrade to Simplicity and get the Microsim on Monday?

First post in this thread after reading it for about 150 pages...

I keep reading about people reserving with Orange - I take it they are taking reservations then?

im not sure whats going on in the store but I would reckon they might have some micro sims in store seeing as they used to sell them with networks but to be on the safe side, just try and get one from o2 on monday :)

lol, this thread is funny :D

Because it's so large, there's a constant carousel of the same questions cropping up every couple of pages. Makes for good reading though, totally getting excited about next thursday!

mmm I didn't see that option because I'm having it delivered, my nearest store is in Manchester which is about 30 miles from where I am :( but I can't wait till the 24th :D

I've been dipping in and out of reading this now massive thread, but feel very confused by all this talk of Micro-SIMs. I have a 32gb reserved at the Cambridge Apple Store for Thursday, and am planning on upgrading on O2, my current contract having expired. Now surely the Apple Store itself will be stocking micro-sims for this purpose. They have already stated that they are doing PAYG, Pay Monthly, and SIM-Free in stores, and to do the first two they must have the requisite SIM cards in store.

I just went to a Vodafone store and I signed up for the iPhone 4, they'll call me 'hopefully' on the 24th to ask me whether I still want it or not and go pick that up. MicroSIMs will be available on launch date.

I signed up on a list where there were already hundred people or so!

I've been on O2 PAYG never used Vodafone and I live in East London, I'm going to get an 18 months contract, any of you ever have been on Vodafone and regret it? I wonder if would be better stay with O2.

Sorry if it's me just being thick but I want to pre-order a handset which I will take out on a contract (making the handset only £100-200, pending which contract I get).

Is there any way for me to pre-order to ensure I get hold of one before I jet off on my holidays on the 30th of June?

Here is a link detailing what to bring to the store when I go to collect my PAYG phone.

http://www.apple.com/uk/retail/iphone/

As you can see, it clearly says PAYG as an option, and to simply bring a PAC code to transfer existing number from O2 or Orange.

This to me would infer that the PAYG phone is an option, and it comes with a SIM to transfer the number to....but what do I know, I'm only a (confused) customer :D

it doesn't say payg iPhone, it is a payg price plan :) but what the heck, bring on 24th! :)

just to confirm to people.........i received a micro sim today from orange which i requested on wednesday........and i just phoned them up 2 hours ago to transfer my number over to it (as i had a slight doubt it may have been an ipad sim).......but i have just turned it back on after they told me to leave it off for 2 hours......and i have a fully working phone with my micro sim (and adaptor) inside....happy days....bring on THURSDAY!! :D

What's really annoyed me about this whole situation is the different answer you get from the same operators depending on what day/person and even time you ring. I want a monthly contract with Vodafone and have been told a different story for the last few days.

Decided on getting one from my local Carephone Warehouse which I have confirmed will open at 8am on Thursday. I would have gone to the Vodaphone store but it won't open till 9am!!

Anyone else in Halifax going to be waiting early on Thursday?

well done on the reservation, the white one looks awesome. and the second bit, not true, its sim free meaning ANY sim can be used :)

Thanks, I thought as much - I switched to Orange from O2 as where I live, work and play the reception is far superior so I would be hesitant to change. It's basically a toss between an Orange P&G or a SIM Free from Apple the latter is a better option but I'm not sure if they will have the white variant on launch day I suspect they will.

No. It clearly says on the Apple website "you can change carriers at any time"

Thanks for that, I started to doubt myself for a minute there, thought i'd double check :D

Seriously I'm not sure what to do. The white looks awesome so I may hold out, what about you?

Call your local orange store, and they took my details and said they will put it to one side. She said they open at 9.30 however they are most likely opening their doors at 8-8.30

So do all the micro sims come with a free adaptor?

i dont know but mine did.....if ur with orange i just phoned them, asked for one and they luckily just received stock of them wednesday.....the same day they revealed their prices......its a sim only pay monthly micro sim by the way. i'm on dolphin 15.
