I've reserved a White one at the Orange store for pickup on Pay and Go.
Got Orange to send me a Micro-SIM which was a pain, get to transfer my number onto it.
I'm led to believe that the SIM free from Apple once a SIM has been inserted / activated it locks the phone to that network? Anyone know if that's true...
Thanks.
the phones from apple are sim free so unlocked so you can use with ANY network but with NO sim so looks like you're gonna have to go down to the stores and try and get one, o2 is looking promising for monday![]()
Apple are just selling the handsets. You will have to go to a carrier's store to get the SIM.
You can get your micro SIM now, as they have been around for years. Unsure why Apple makes them out to be new technology.![]()
hmm they may have, but you might find you have to go to your chosen network supplier and ask for one, and even then they might have to mail it to you. I suggest you call your contact centre this week and get them to ship you one with your account ported
have you got a screen shot? if the iPhone is from o2, then there is the internet/wi-fi but they havent even announced their price for the payg iphone 4 on their network. my guess is you have reserved a sim free iphone seeing as they are the only optionsI reserved mine, should be coming on the 24th

I have a 32GB iP4 reserved at Meadowhall but won't be able to pick it up until about 4pm at the earliest - thats no issue.
I'm planning on getting the twelve month £15 p/m Simplicity with O2 on Monday along with a Microsim. If I walk into my local O2 store and show them my reservation email on my iPhone should I be able to upgrade to Simplicity and get the Microsim on Monday?
First post in this thread after reading it for about 150 pages...
They don't make them out to be new technology. It's the networks that are being all precious about them. You can get your micro SIM now, as they have been around for years. Unsure why Apple makes them out to be new technology.![]()

Cheers for the replies guys. I just want to understand this before I head off on Thursday.
I am currently on a iPhone 3GS Contract, and have a 16GB iPhone 4 reserved in an Apple Store on Thursday. I want to use the early upgrade offer, and then go onto the O2 £45 a month tariff. (24 months)
So I need to get a Micro SIM before Thursday, and then Apple will be able to upgrade me in store? What would happen if I turned up without a Micro SIM?
Thanks
I reserved mine to collect at store, rather than get delivered.
I don't have a screenshot of the order page, as I ordered it on my iPad at 9am, but it definitely gave me a choice of either a PAYG or a SIM free, as I ordered 2 (and received two confirmations), as I didn't know which to go for, so I reserved 2 of them, one PAYG and one SIM free.
I hadn't planned on buying both, but I might just get the second one aswell and my missus can have it.
mmm I didn't see that option because I'm having it delivered, my nearest store is in Manchester which is about 30 miles from where I ambut I can't wait till the 24th

Here is a link detailing what to bring to the store when I go to collect my PAYG phone.
http://www.apple.com/uk/retail/iphone/
As you can see, it clearly says PAYG as an option, and to simply bring a PAC code to transfer existing number from O2 or Orange.
This to me would infer that the PAYG phone is an option, and it comes with a SIM to transfer the number to....but what do I know, I'm only a (confused) customer![]()
well done on the reservation, the white one looks awesome. and the second bit, not true, its sim free meaning ANY sim can be used![]()
No. It clearly says on the Apple website "you can change carriers at any time"
just have to hope the white one is available mate!!!!!
what if white isnt available? will you go black or just wait until orange get them
I keep reading about people reserving with Orange - I take it they are taking reservations then?
So do all the micro sims come with a free adaptor?
