k guys with the cancellations happening, and everything thats going on, I'm really nervous about my iPhone not getting there on the 24th even though i preordered (the sim free model, 16gb, delivery) mine within 30 mins of the preorder apple iphone 4 site launching directly from apple, I am afraid because I just read some people have gotten shipping confirmations and mine has not even changed to preparing for shipping yet! Has ANY UK customer gotten ANY update to their order status who ordered directly from apple? Not yet shipped is what I have, or is this to be expected to happen?

Was wondering for anyone who's reserved an iPhone 4 at local apple store

1. When I go on the store's website (http://www.apple.com/uk/retail/meadowhall/ for me)
and click view reservations in top right it says you have no reservations, does this mean that my iPhone reservation didn't complete despite having received an e-mail confirmation?

2. Does having a reservation at a store guarantee me a device that day? Although this is my closest store I still live relatively far away and would not be able to make it to queue up early. Am I guaranteed an iPhone if I were to arrive at say 11am?

1) The page you're looking at is only for in-store genius bar appointments, workshops etc - that kinda thing. If you had your email, which you say you have, then your reservation is complete.

2) It guarantees you a device for that day, they keep hold of it until the end of business on the 24th. I'm picking mine up in Exeter, and I'll have a 1 hour train journey - should be getting there about 10:30/11:00!

So basically nothing to worry about mate!

Mine also says Not Yet Shipped, and yes, this is what is expected to happen when it's not even due to be delivered until Thursday. Even if anyone in the UK was able to report movement with their order, what's to say that you won't still be singled out to have your order cancelled? Eh?

I say, stop panicking and worrying and fretting and losing sleep over the precise delivery time of a gadget, and just chill out, expect everything to be just fine, and only get upset if it all goes wrong, which isn't something you're going to be able to predict or do anything about until it happens, if it happens.

Life's too short.

i know people are debating whether ipad sims will work in iphone 4.....but i have another question.....what about the other way round...will the microsims with the iphone work with the ipad?? i'm debating getting an ipad as well but i dont wanna have 2 seperate data plans.

Yes they do. I picked up my replacement microsim from the O2 store on Friday night with the adapter and it's now my standard iPhone sim. I can pop it out of the iPhone and put it into the iPad to use for data. You need to change the APN settings in the iPad to match those of the iPhone, but apart from that, no issues.

So there aren't separate Micro SIMs for Pay Monthly or Pay as you Go? They're just all standard?

yepp they are all the same just like it is now, its just a matter of changing tariffs with the network, like it is now. e.g. you can get any micros sim to be on payg but you have to contact the network if you want to go on contract

So with O2 apparently having Micro SIMs since Monday, will they have both Pay Monthly and PAYG Sims?

Your sim will just be swapped so basically the one that you are on now, you will just get a micro sim replacement and just carry on however you use it. e.g. if you are on contract and get a micro sim, contract continues. same with payg

I ordered mine at 1.11 and says mine will be delivered on the 24th and the only email I have is a confirmation from Apple saying that my order had been processed. I have the same status as yours and I think its just the american orders being cancelled

If you exclude auctions where the seller gets scammed by people Buying-Now without PayPal requirement, there are some persuasive prices there!

I could live without the new phone for a couple of weeks. The profit would, with the recycle price I've got for my phone, cover the cost of the handset ;-)

Or sell the black one to someone who really wants one? Seen the eBay prices? Worth a thought if you don't want the phone yourself...

I've not seen anyone from the UK with anything other than "not yet shipped".

Its a little concerning to see some Americans with orders delivered July 2 being shipped, when ours haven't but it would seem they are handling regions in order.

What's the best handset price and tariff reduction people have got from o2 as existing customers who are offered deals to retain them on o2 instead of switching networks?

I really wouldn't stress it. Expect your status to change tomorrow or tuesday. They know what they are doing. Noone else in Europe has their status changed by the look of things (I am in France). I would be more worried about getting a micro sim for the thing.

Spoke to apple store in Cardiff and they are expecting black and White models. I reminded him pre orders were black and he said it doesn't matter we can swap them around.

I read somewhere that the euro apple stores don't use the prepared for shipment status they just go straight to shipped, not sure if it is true or not.

Is fast ship EMEA the direct from China method? I would only stress if you don't get shipping by tomorrow morning although I did think we would have had confirmation by Saturday.

That's exactly what I am doing. Getting an o2 one today as a template

Exeter is normally pretty good for being stocked.

Each major release that I have been theirs been no queue. Also exeter is small and people won't come up from further south.

Sometimes its better to aim for quiet o2 stores first thing.

Ill prob panic about going my local 02, even when its rual and Ill be the first their.

I am concerned about the lack of anti glare screen protectors out their at the mo. Debating weither to hold of untill more cases are avaliable etc.

It depends how old your sim is? If you've got the new type then it's more rectangular and exactly same contact area as micro sim. If you've got the old one they look more square. Still both can be cut but the latter is harder to achieve

It's a lot more complicated to deliver to the US, given its size and number of orders. Plus it's about 3,000 miles further from Hong Kong than Liege.
