Exeter is normally pretty good for being stocked.

Each major release that I have been theirs been no queue. Also exeter is small and people won't come up from further south.

Sometimes its better to aim for quiet o2 stores first thing.

Ill prob panic about going my local 02, even when its rual and Ill be the first their.

I am concerned about the lack of anti glare screen protectors out their at the mo. Debating weither to hold of untill more cases are avaliable etc.

Cheers for the comment on the Exeter store, first time i'm getting a product on launch - I'm going to Exeter on the train from Plymouth Thursday morning! When you say they're well stocked...any idea if they'll have any micro SIMS in stock for O2? :)

It's a lot more complicated to deliver to the US, given its size and number of orders. Plus it's about 3,000 miles further from Hong Kong than Liege.

I agree.

If royal mail can guarantee next day by 9am then I'm sure apples couriers can do the same. At a guess they'll start preparing Tuesday.

Cheers for the help! Just need to know now if I need to get one in advance or whether Apple stores will be keeping some as well! :)

no worries =] I have heard they are going to have some but just to be on the safe side, try and get one from o2 on monday :)

anyone else's Credit Card not been charged yet?

There's still a hold on mine for the amount, but nothing charged yet. I can't get into the apple store order status page, keep getting a technical difficulty message... anyone else getting this?

yepp I just had a post up saying if anyone else had that lol, so looks like its all of us :/

There are way too many questions on this thread that people expect to get an answer to when they are not yet answerable!

Examples:
- will there be a long queue at x time outside x store?
- will there be any Iphones left at x time?
- will an iPad sim work in an iPhone 4?
- if no money has been debited/credited from my card will my order arrive in time?

....and so on...

Honestly, I am not slating people but there is only one way to find out - wait a few days & try on Thursday!

I can understand people are excited and anxious, but it is only an iPhone after all and if one has to wait a while to either get one or get a microsim then just be patient. There are plenty of other things one can do in the meantime like go to work, socialise, play computer games, watch TV, go to the cinema, watch the World Cup (actually, it's been ***** so far) or take your partner out for a meal!

Patience is a virtue! :D

Hopefully this is something people already have experience with:

I'm with Orange and my contract expired about 2 years ago (mug aren't I!). They've offered me a new 24 month contract that is absolutely dirt cheap with a phone (not iPhone) and other things I can sell on ebay for >£250. This cheap deal is supposedly because of loyalty (been with them 10 yrs).

In the past they've never been able to offer loyalty deals on iphone tariffs.

My question is: If I buy an iPhone outright from Apple, will I be able to use it on a tariff that isn't an iPhone tariff? Has anyone done this in the past?

(I'm assuming of course that I'll be able to get a micro sim).

PS. Gutted I didn't manage to reserve a phone in time - I never found that page, just went straight to apple store. Thinking of queuing early and hoping I get one from the non-reserved stock.

I've got a reservation at the Apple Store on Regent Street. Was considering going to my nearest O2 (Tottenham Hale) but not sure now following O2's little stock shortage note, even though I am an existing customer, big time - two iPhone contracts (one for my partner) and an iPad data plan.

I suppose I can see what the queue looks like at O2 and if it's crazy head for the Regent street store and join my reservation line, which will no doubt be in a frenzied state but I'll be 'guaranteed' to get my black 16gb.

Might pop into O2 later today to see if I can pick up a microsim early. Waiting for it to arrive in the post is a bit too hit and miss, although I assume Apple must have microsims that they can transfer my existing number to.

I plan to go on 45 tariff for 2 years and downgrade the contract to £35 half way through, which is what I did last time round. Haven't seen anyone mention the downgrade option but I believe all carriers have to let you downgrade half way through. I assume this is still the case?

Well we have 2 O2 shops in Plymouth so I'll try them tomorrow! I just have to show them my pre-order or reservation email yeah? :)

Edit: Dont suppose it would hurt for me to give the Apple store a ring either :)

Dont see the point in training up to exeter when Plym has 2 o2 stores. I have gone to exeter alot but new releases but im moving from simplicity back to full contract so have to be 02 as Exeter clearly said you can not do this at apple.

I had one one on Vodafone, what you need is a tariff with a good data allowance. I have just (on Saturday) changed my tariff to the Vodafone 12 month SIM only tariff for the iPhone. For £20/month I get 1GB of data included which seems hard to beat, looking at the others, although I bet 3 beats it. They are also sending me a Microsim (supposedly) to arrive tomorrow.
