If 3 are doing a good deal then I might have to wait and see, as my cousin works for 3 so I can get 25% off, also she would be my first port of call for customer service so I would have no problems in that respect :) What is their network like?

If you get that discount, you will have the best iPhone 4 deal in the whole country :) their network is good apart from customer service but no-one is perfect :) they are the best for value =]

nyone heard from their Apple shop about vodafone contracts in store? I hope next week we'll have more info, though on the 3G launch we didn't know until the morning! Calling at 9pm the night before was useless as no one had a clue what was going on!

According to this page it would appear that you can sign up to an O2, Orange or Vodafone contract in the Apple Stores. That's certainly what I'm planning on doing on Thursday.

What you need to purchase and activate iPhone:

...

Proof of current address (driving licence or recently paid utility bill)
To agree to pay your monthly o2, Orange or Vodafone bill via direct debit.

(although it does say PAYG is not available on Vodafone)

Right now my options are limited but next March they'll be wide open - I can choose from Vodafone, Orange, T-Mobile, 3 and even Virgin may come on board; and I'm sure by then visual voicemail will be available on the other networks. Plus I'm sure by March they'll be talk of the iPhone 4S with 512MB memory and 64GB storage so the old adage rings true: Good things come to those who wait! :)

I assume you have a 3GS? I was in the exact boat you're in last year. The contract for my 3G expired in February and I've been sitting on a rolling contract waiting for the iPhone 4 since then, cos I knew it would be a leap ahead of the 3GS!

Regent Street is going to be carnage.

Apple, of course, will love the lines and the press it generates.

Called in my local o2 store would not give me one said had to call back tomorrow but advised me be early as said not got a lot of the new sims will be ther at 9am

If I'm buying an unlocked handset from Apple and have one reserved:

1. What do I need to take with me, just my reservation email?
2. Can I pay cash for my handset?

Thanks :)

yep and I know in America peeps can't pay apple with cash but I'm not sure here for UK, I would just pay on card just in case :)

How likely would it be to be able to pick one up from the apple store (cardiff) on release day?

Also, If i were to order one online from apple now, what sort of date could i except it to arrive?

If you get their early, and I mean EARLY, you will likely be able to get one :) and if you ordered it now, you would expect it to come July 14th, it might be pushed back even more if there are more pre-orders

just picked up my micro sim from o2 - no adapter in there though ....

Went to o2 store this afternoon and never a ruder pair of staff are you likely to meet.... They were not even aware that that could even star handing out micosims tomorrow... I was told to come back on Thursday and they would see what they could do... When i asked them to have a look at their own web site with ref to availability from tomorrow i was told they were too busy... and i was the only customer in the store....

Yes, 3GS - I can make do with the iOS 4 update until next year and I won't be making the mistake of signing up for a contract again. The iPhone is an awesome device; no other comapny has even come close (even though there's always talk of the latest "iPhone killer") but I'm prepared to wait.

anyone got any news on Tesco mobile? Do we know whether they will have iPhone4 on launch day?

They will be offering it on their network but my thought is that they won't be offering it from launch, I think they will offer it in July, the same as t-mobile :)

Will have O2 micro sims

Spoke to Meadowhall Apple Store where i reserved my iPhone,
they told me that if it's reserved you're guaranteed it'll be kept aside that day for you, but they expect the pre-reserved queue to be a number of hours long, so get there early or you could miss out.

Also, they told me that they will have O2 micro sims there to set it all up.

you can go in store and they should give you on or get an orange micro sim because they give adapters with theirs :)

my local store is always rammed with ppl, luckily it was quiet today.

first guy i spoke to checked with another and was questioning whether he was allowed to give them out and seems the other guy was a forum reader and knew what the deal was with everything (white ones having issues...). should have asked him about the adapter after i got the micro sim. anyhow, i have the sim, thats the main thing, just waiting for it to activate

You would think that after 3 years Apple would be well prepared for such an event but clearly not. Either they need to pull their finger out or perhaps it's just to create even more hype?? If it's the latter then that's just ridiculous! This isn't the second coming nor is it the return of Elvis or Michael Jackson. And why is Apple mum on the whole issue??

I won't be one of the suckers buying the iPhone 4 straight away (remember what happened to the first lot back in '07?). I've reluctantly decided to wait until my contract is up next March. I'm eligible for an upgrade in September but it would mean being stuck with O2 for another 2 years and I'm not happy with their 3G performance and overall network reliability. Right now my options are limited but next March they'll be wide open - I can choose from Vodafone, Orange, T-Mobile, 3 and even Virgin may come on board; and I'm sure by then visual voicemail will be available on the other networks. Whatever makes you feel happy at not getting one straight away. :D

It just says Ships: By July 14th. Not very specific :D

Surely that is specific enough?! If you order now, they will ship (prepare it for delivery and give it to courier) it on the 14th July and then it would arrive at your delivery address probably no more than 24hrs later, you would sign for it and have an iPhone 4 in your possession. Once Apple give it to the courier the time it takes to deliver is out of their control, they can only really be expected to be specific about the date they give it to the courier for delivery.

Hope this helps.....

You'll get the iPhone 4S (or whatever it will be called) next June and then miss out on the iPhone 5 in June 2012! At that point iPhone 4 adopters will be saying "good things come to those who wait".

Ok then you'd be best waiting for the iPhone 10 or even iPhone 20 as they will be LOADS better than the iPhone 4

I will add to this, that the "by July 14th" is a 'no later than' window. You might get it sooner, it depends on availability of units. One of my mates ordered an iPad on Monday as was given an estimated delivery date of the 28th June. On Wednesday he got a 'shipped' email, and it arrived on Thursday. Just remember, like the iPad, Apple will be selling the iPhone 4 as fast as it can make them.

Just spoke to O2 and they have updated their terms in regards to getting hold of a micro-sim:-
"If you have pre-ordered iPhone 4 directly from Apple you can get an O2 micro sim from any O2 shop. Simply go to an O2 shop any time from Monday 21 June and bring along your pre-order confirmation email from Apple. You'll need to show it in order to get your micro sim"

Just in case you need to know. Thw guy said i could order from online but can't see that option just the go-to-shop option

am i not right in thinking a week or so ago when o2 launched their iphone 4 coming soon page.....

did you not get an option to register interest????? and within that option was an option to put in your mobile number so they could send you a micro sim?

or did i dream all this up :D

That's a relief! So if we're buying from an Apple store, there's no need to get a microsim beforehand then?

You didn't dream it! A few people have received them, but I think they're stopping it now since so many people registered interest, haha. There have also been some rumors over on the O2 forums that it's still going ahead and that they will start sending them out next week (which may be too late!)
