They just let it through to keep us fools on the hook!

Probably :)

I refuse to be bound to more than a 12 month contract anyway (RIP sensible contract durations, died circa 2005) but it would've been a very interesting deal. Minus the cost of the phone that works out £9.17/month for the services, which is not bad!

Morning all,

I will be upgrading my contract with o2 on Thursday and already have a handset reserved at my local apple store.

Now, do I need to have a micro sim in hand before I go to the apple store or will they have one to provide me with the handset when I upgrade my contract?

Just picked mine up from O2 shop in Dumfries.

Don't go with Three! Worst. Coverage. Ever…

I understand people saying to avoid them because of the customer service, but for coverage is unusual. In my experience their 3G coverage is way, way ahead of any other network, in fact I couldn't get rid of it when I was trying to test the backup Orange signal because everywhere I went, it was there.

I find Orange's 2G coverage to be slightly above average. Better than O2, which is better than T-mobile which I rarely see on the carrier list up North. Vodafone probably wins it, but these days if you aren't getting 3G on 3 it usually means you're out in a field somewhere. Unless you stroll around fields a lot (get a backup phone with Vodafone/Asda), I find 3's coverage to be top notch especially since it has 2 networks to choose from. YMMV I guess.

Does anyone know which 02 stores in London have the Micro-Sims....? So far I've been told that the Micro-Sims might be in today, perhaps tomorrow... (This was City)

Ideally looking to pick up a SIM from Camden / Angel...

I'm stuck in work all day, so I can't wander aimlessly around trying stores, like 02 think I can...

Agreed, in my experience their indian callcentre can be a bit of a hastle, but their coverage is top notch.

Im in the same boats as you, as I understand it you will get a sim from the apple store but you can also call in to a a O2 store and collect a sim from them.

I can confirm micro-SIMs at the o2 store @ Wimbledon Broadway

Down the road!!

So I picked up an iPad micro sim from O2 in town Saturday. I'm confused!! Will it work or do I need to get another?

I would have thought that it should work but then I read they were pre activated?!

Anyone?

Thanks

I tried Fenchurch Street this morning, as it is the only one that opens at 9am, and was told the same thing. I was going to try Cannon Street and Cheapside at lunchtime but expect to be told the same again. I don't think the City stores are open at the weekend and therefore deliveries of sim cards might not have been able to be made until this week.

I will also be able to use the sim in an Ipad, where as if I change from my normal sim to a Micro sim but on te same tarrif, It will be considered a new contract and won't work in an Ipad and will only 500mb of data.

Won't it be same contract, smaller sim?

Hello to all fellow iPhone devotees,

Had to join and add my voice to this monstrous thread. I was delighted to pick up an O2 micro sim from London Fleet Street store this morning. Long story short it didn't activate, got a second one same problem. Now speaking to a charming but clueless O2 customer services rep. Ho Hummm

Hi Guys

Very interested to read everything on here, so I just thought I would mention what I am doing, I have a Sim free Iphone 4 reserved at Apple Store Solihull Touchwood for collection on the 24th. I will then cut my existing sim down and carry on using that. I am on a o2 Simplicity tarrif with unlimited data.

I will also be able to use the sim in an Ipad, where as if I change from my normal sim to a Micro sim but on te same tarrif, It will be considered a new contract and won't work in an Ipad and will only 500mb of data.

I enclose a link for how to cut the sim down for anyone interested.

Does changing to a new microsim via the http://swapmysim.o2.co.uk/ website really mean that you are committing to the new contract terms?

I'm wanting to stay on my existing simplicity contract with unlimited data and I can't see anything on that website to suggest I will be on new terms if I simply switch to a micro sim.

for the 100th time people new sim DOES NOT equal new contract! :D

Just completed a Vodafone pre-order on the phone!

I've just had a call from a Vodafone call centre in response to me signing up a couple of weeks ago, and have pre-ordered and paid for my black 16gb iP4 for Thursday delivery! :)

They've been told this morning that white will be available 'in a few weeks' but haven't been given any reasons for them not being available now.

TT

3 seem to be letting any old comment through (they just let one through about cutting SIMs down to size) so it's probably best not to read anything into that pricing speculation from earlier.

On the positive side comments keep trickling in so they seem to be keeping up to date on their blog. Every little helps.

Just found out my o2 store is opening at 8.02am

Looks like I be up extra early to get there and make sure I get one.

Prob get there arnd 5-6

same here. eventhough i don't have my first iphone yet (on thu that will change, touch wood! :) i changed my 'simplicity for smartphone' to the simplicity for iphone around one week ago.

i was assured by o2 unlimited data would remain. however, i haven't requested or received any assurance form them re: if i transfer to a micro-sim, will i retain unlimited data.

personally i think there will be no issues but i don't want to get caught-out so i will be reading every last bit of small-print before i swap my sim online. and i will probably phone o2 so they can make a note that i explained that i was only swapping to a micro-sim on the condition that my contract retains unlimited data.
