I've just had a call from a Vodafone call centre in response to me signing up a couple of weeks ago, and have pre-ordered and paid for my black 16gb iP4 for Thursday delivery! :)

They've been told this morning that white will be available 'in a few weeks' but haven't been given any reasons for them not being available now.

TT

for reals???
are you an existing Vodafone customer? I may give them a call on my lunch.

I tried Fenchurch Street this morning, as it is the only one that opens at 9am, and was told the same thing. I was going to try Cannon Street and Cheapside at lunchtime but expect to be told the same again. I don't think the City stores are open at the weekend and therefore deliveries of sim cards might not have been able to be made until this week.

Got mine from the one on Old Broad Street, near Liverpool Street.

Just spoken to my local O2 store on the phone, they had 50 micro sims delivered this morning but have not been giving them out because there worry is they could of got rid of them all within an hour of opening that when new users sign up there will be no sims so they wont be able to sign up.

He's ringing his area manager today to see if he is getting any more in before the launch if so they he will then give the go ahead to hand them out without confirmation.

I asked if that meant he would only be getting in 50 iP4's and his answer was that he simply doesn't know until Wednesday at the earliest!

Has someone's shipping status changed from 'Not yet shipped'?
I read that the US guys already can track their phones via FedEx, hsa anyone been succesful with that from UK?

Absolutely for real (unless I'm being scammed!).

No - I'm a new customer (from O2) and wanted two phones - a white and black - so they're calling me back when white is available.

I had also reserved two in my local store, who were taking names and requirements and were then going to allocate them on Wednesday afternoon and let people pick them up on Thursday. I'm not going to take my name off this list yet, in case there are white ones coming into stores (I doubt it, now).

Cheers,

TT

No microsims at my local O2 store today (in Co. Tyrone NI), despite being assured on Saturday that I could pick one up this morning.... of course, it doesn't surprise me as O2 are beyond useless and have no idea how to retain customers. I think I'll join another network out of pure spite.

Eventually got a Microsim, in the second store I tried. The first one hadn't had stock in yet and was expecting them today or tomorrow. So I went to the one I tried on Saturday who said they had them in but couldn't hand them out until today, they went straight out the back and got me one. Its accepted it all on the website just waiting for it to swap over now.

If anyones interested Carphone Warehouse in Stevenage is opening at 7am, with limited stock according to the poster on the window. But they have so many handwritten posters in the window now they have started conflicting with each other as another one said reserve yours now for arrival late June/early July.

Ok... I will probably try and get one when I nip out to lunch. I'll be in Camden later, though. Does anyone know if the o2 store there has them...?

Orange sim only deals... anyone know anything

I ordered my iPhone from the Apple store for delivery Thurs and not I'm I'm trying to get an Orange sim only deal and i'm not getting any sensible information from them. They have the pricing for all the other tariffs but this one. Grrrrr!!!!!

Anyone else know anything or is there any way around this? I the micro sim!

No microsims in 02 Wimbledon as of yet.

He told me they'll probably be in tomorrow but I'll need to bring in reservation evidence as usual. The guy also said 02 have no idea whats happening with amount of stock/colours until Wednesday when they get their delivery. The store(s) close at 4pm (a whole 2 hours early!) just to get ready for the next day

So he said come in a few mins before closing time on Wednesday and he'll tell meme everything. I still will get my reservation from the Apple Store M.Km so I'll see who ever there

*fingers crossed I get my microsim*

Why can't Apple open their own mobile phone company...? Better than dealing with the muppets in O2.

ok not read this thread in a few days so i could be repeating old news. just got off the phone to vodafone to see whats happening. ive not got an upgrade due untill the 24th of september but the women on the phone said i should DEFFINATLY still be able to go in store and get my upgrade early on the 24th. so anyone with 3-4 months left on their currant contract should be able to blag it (with vodaphone anyway) as far as pre orders are concerned theres not going to be any! again this is vodafone not sure about other networks. so i suppose ive gotta get to a vodafone shop early and hope for the best on the 24th!

oh and how much should i be looking to sell my 3g 8gb jailbroke and unlocked for? :D

Just to chip in again and say that my local Orange store were also taking names and allocating the shipment they'd be getting on Wednesday to them for picking up on Thursday, so if you're planning on picking one up at an Orange store then you might want to give them a call. They were asking people if they wanted white or black ones, but they probably didn't know they wouldn't be getting any white ones in. I'm an Orange customer, but I'm on PAYG going onto a contract, so I don't think you'd need to be an existing customer to reserve one. They didn't ask me if I was, anyway.

Not Yet Shipped

So, since everyone in the UK having preordered an iPhone is still on the Not Yet Shipped Status, I’m guessing the iPhone’s are already at the Netherlands Hub or maybe even on UK mainland?

They still say Delivers on 24th..I just hope they do!

Same boat... I'm with O2 and had planned to stay with O2, but as a previous Orange customer I always found them a bit better in terms of coverage. Haven't been able to find any info on their SIM-only plans, except for the one they had previously - wish orange had a wider variety of iPhone SIM-only plans.

Just collected 2 micro-sims from the local O2 store with my reservation email. Quick and painless, and both came with a micro-sim adapter in the envelope :)

Just picked up my SIM from O2 - it's an iPhone Pay Monthly and business one! :D So can I do the sim swap now and then put the Micro SIM on it's adapter and in to my iPhone?

Thanks!

guys what does your adapter look like? could you post a pic?

i picked up my sim yesterday (pay monthly/business) and there was no adapter inside the envelope....

I wouldn't panic. Last year I ordered my iPhone 3GS on 23 June, it was shipped on 25 June and delivered on 26 June. It came in from the Netherlands Hub.

Unlocking help please

Undoubtedly asked many times before but if i buy a Vodafone iphone 4 it is locked until the end of the contract - VF will not unlock it, but they acknowledge that it can be but not by them. Question, will an apple store unlock it for me and if not who will be able to please?
Thanks

Why can't Apple open their own mobile phone company...?

They're far too slow at bringing their features up to speed.
First year - Apple introduces voice/text/GPRS only network, hails it as a simple no-nonsense network where "what we do do, we do it right, and we don't really see the advantage of the other features at this time." Everyone jumps on it anyway, because the voice quality is like they've never heard before.
Second year - wow! We've introduced 3G
Third year - wow! We've introduced MMS
Fourth year - wow! We've introduced video calling
Fifth year - wow! We've introduced voicemail!

;)

Not sure if this is old news but o2 stores will NOT be getting payandgo handsets at launch. The only place you will be able to get a pay and go handset is Apple store (or other networks stores. I have no info about them though.)

Sounds great, can I pre-order now?
