Nope, picked up a microsim from the Sheffield O2 store. They did the transfer for me in the shop and everything including visual voicemail was switched over and works the same.

The only difference I've noticed on my account is that I now have an additional bolt on (£40 oversees data limit) which I'm pretty sure wasn't there this morning.

If you click "manage bolt ons" it tells you when they were added. Whats the picture message enabled one? Are you on the unlimited text tariff? do you pay for picture messages?

1) having mine delivered sim free from Apple
2) want to stay on my current simplicity 20 tariff, unlimited internet/data
3) really don't fancy queuing just for a micro-sim for all the madness on Thursday
4) now that I already have my sim, and it's activated, all I have to do, is pop it into the new iPhone 4 when it's delivered to my home on my BIRTHDAY 24th June !!!

/job done!

that's why.

This. We aren't all buying subsidised phones.

Please contemplate other eventualities other than your own.

right so just off the phone with o2, really nice girl who knew about the (new iphone) was explaining how they are really busy atm with iphone enquiries, i was changing my £25 simplicity to £15 but then she said "we won't actually be stocking the new iPhone, but people just wont believe us, so when we say we have no more information - we really dont"

Of course im not saying this is the stone cold truth, we know that customer services aren't told everything - but stocking the iphone? i thought it was interesting and needed to be said

btw, dont flip out.. im sure they will have iphones in store on the 24th ;)

I must be alone now. No but seriously I'm starting to wonder why the heck we aren't atleast Prepared For Shipping. That pilot better step on it.

Apple preorder, is it? In the UK already. We wont see changes in the shipping details till tonight at the earliest I'd say.

anything concrete on this? it's looking that way but I can't for the life of me figure out why they'd have done this for us but not the States.

I was hoping to recieve a micro-sim in the post as I thought I'd registered to O2 pretty early on, but not today. Possibly tomorrow?

I'm thinking, if not, I'll just get one on the day with the phone? Hoping there won't be any problems. :/

I think thats part of O2’s new data roaming policy, everyone should have it, i do. They’ll text you if you go over £20 in data, then at £40, and they won’t charge you anymore no matter how much more data you use… supposedly!

What people are worried about is that US customers are getting tracking numbers and it says its coming from China... so why haven't we got tracking numbers if its already in the UK saying so? Why is it different in US to Europe (I know a French guy said he's in the same boat as UK customers)

It's not an O2 policy, it's new EU law. O2 have to do that, along with all the other networks. Outside the EU, though, you're on your own.

Yeah I know... *joke goes whooooosh* that's the first time I've attempted a Rickroll and I guess probably the last :D

ohh i knew you rickroll'd me *evils*, i just assumed that you knew that i knew that you did :) if that even makes sense...

I visited a Vodafone store and a CPW store in Glasgow and was also told, no reserving/pre-ordering as they don't know how many iphones will be delivered and they expect it won't be many.

I called my local (Manchester) Orange store again earlier to re-confirm they'd be holding me one and they said they would, and that they'd be opening at 7. Though that's technically not a pre-order as I didn't put any money down. I'll still be there bright and early to get one though just to make sure! Vodafone and CFW both told me that they won't be doing pre-orders though. It's funny to think that if I manage to get my hands on an iPhone 4 on Thursday morning I'll actually be getting it hours before the Americans! Nice for the UK to get something (slightly) earlier for a change!

I know around 20 Scotland pre-orderers of iPhone 4, all the same - Ordered as soon as site went live, all confirmed for 24th delivery and ALL still 'Not yet Shipped'

I'm not 100% concerned yet, but just has me itching my head a bit.

Aw, bless, Orange are holding one for everybody in the whole wide world. :D

Just a reminder

iOS4 will be available today, the guesstimate is at 6pm :) for download.

I asked in 2 different o2 shops if changing to a microsim affected my current simplicity tariff, and each said it wouldnt.

As for dodgy numbers pretending to be o2, it could be true - some call centres have multiple uses. I had a missed call once, googled it and the result said it was either the British Army (!) or a credit agency. Next time they called i answered, it was Nespresso Customer Care!

The next rumour on the web is that 3 will offer free tethering....
