My o2 is opening at 0802 on Thu, now I have to decide how early I'm getting there. Not fussed about being front of the queue, but ideally within the first 20 or so would be nice, hmm.

You're in exactly the same boat as me. I think the earliest I'm going to be able to get there is 7 though, wondering if that's early enough?

if you're on 30 day rolling - yes; if you're on a 12 month plan - no

That is not true. I am on 30 day and have spoken a few times to customer service and they have told me that nothing on my tariff will change unless I phone them up and explicitly ask them to change it. They said that my current tariff will continue to roll, and I will continue to have all my minutes, texts and data. I have had them put two notes on my file confirming this.

My thought is all these micro sim swaps are pretty damn quick at the moment correct, so what happens when people like myself are going to upgrade and at work, can't go home to activate my new phone, does that mean I am without a phone til I get home, or do all micro sims come with a "fat sim" adapter?

snap! i've had them put a note on my file too.

ps - i reckon whoever posts the 10,000th msg on this thread should get a free ip4 paid-for by macrumors - who votes yes! In fact, I'm going to make it a poll :D

Quick question. I am already on O2 simplicity for iPhone and am carrying it on with them. Does anyone know if they are going to cut down my data usage from unlimited or is that just for new customers?

If you trim your existing sim down to micro sim size then NO, as although they know what phone your using, you haven't officaially upgraded, so they will leave the plan as is.

I will be cutting my sim down as it can also be shared with an apad also, which the new micro sims cannot.

Well, I confess I was first in the queue at the same store at the 3G launch, got there about 6. Couple of blokes appeared about 610. At 7 a queue had formed, but not enormous.

Purely conjecture, but I suspect there'll be biiiiig queues fairly quickly as I reckon there'll be a tonne of upgraders who skipped the 3GS like me.

The micro SIM is delivered inside a normal size SIM ('pop out' style) so you can use the large SIM until the new phone arrives, then pop out the micro portion.

I see a lot of people here talking about the o2 micro-sims but I'm a little concerned about my iPhone pre-order, let alone the SIM card for it.

I have 2 black 32gb iPhone 4's on pre-order direct from Apple and the status is sat on 'not yet shipped' and has been since the 15th.

Every thread I read about pre-orders is from someone whos in America and it has no bearing on me at all.
Can anyone confirm here if they have received any tracking info or status change from an Apple direct pre-order in the UK please?

thanks.

Anyone else keep clicking 'check for update' in iTunes?

Really want to see what ios 4.0 is like on a 3gs.

I hope I get my phone delivered by UPS, my macbook was delivered by TNT and they kept it in their depot for 3 days and wouldn't let me pick it up.

I've found UPS to be fantastic for Apple Deliveries. All of mine have been between 8 and 10am. Winnnnnnn

Thanks for the info, might have to find a way to get there earlier then. I'm guessing it will definitely be a big launch, but wondered if the queue would be less as other carriers are doing the iphone this year? & also the fact that it's only existing o2 customers.

thats the thing not just apple stores will be selling that day! also many pre orders online so i think it will be the same as the ipad launch in leicester i got there at 7 and was 15th in queue

I've read loads of tutorials now about cutting sim to micro sim. Every one I read though uses a different sim to the one I have. I have a t-mobile one about 12 month old. Small connectors in a rectangle shape. Any help please

Cutting my old SIM down to Micro Sim

Trying to get through to you here... o2 are not selling sim-free.

You think o2 will publish details of how to detract business from them? Yes you can upgrade with us... or not pay us a penny and buy an unlocked phone from Apple and use any sim you want! Yeah... that'd be a great business idea wouldn't it? They're not going to publish that as a possibility to the consumer, they don't publish that info for any handset. They're in the business of selling you subsidised handsets to tie you into their network with a contract.

Buy a phone from o2 with any subsidised price and it's an upgrade.

Changing a rolling out-of-contract monthly 2G/3G tariff to Simplicity 30d or 12m? That's an upgrade as you're agreeing to a new term.

Wanting to renew a term on a pre-existing 2G/3G tariff that's no longer offered? No can do, you've got to pick a new tariff from the list, which you can't buy until the 24th.. that's an upgrade.

I totally agree with all the options you just described as being upgrades, but it's hardly a secret that you can buy a iphone from Apple and Use any sim you like.

All I'm saying is that you seem so certain that just getting a new micro sim from O2 isn't considered by them to be an upgrade yet have nothing in writing to confirm it.

Anyway I'm not the only who thinks this, but best of luck to everyone who does just get a replacement sim I hope I'm wrong.

casey,

I'm on a 30d simplicity and 2 separate o2 stores have told me I can walk in and pick up a new iphone without upgrading. are you saying they've got it wrong?

cheers
Matt

Mine is also still on Not Yet Shipped, as is everyone elses in the UK. This says to me that the iPhone’s are already at the Netherlands Hub or maybe even on UK mainland.
