Hi DaveTaylor will CPW selling iPhone 4 on payg on launch day?, as I had visited my local CPW store and was told that they are only selling it on contract (didn't sound too convincing to me though).

Thanks

Got my micro-sim this afternoon at O2's Old Broad Street shop in the City of London - a few in front of me doing the same thing.

Used the online service to register the new sim, wait for O2 to do their stuff and 30 mins later all done.

O2 instructions say you have to plug into iTunes to activate but this isn't the case.

I had to show proof of reservation but apparently at some stores this morning you could just walk in and get one - don't know if that's still the case.:)

o2 nor Vodafone will be doing PAYG on launch via us, I doubt Vodafone will be even doing a PAYG option at all, however Orange on the other hand I am not sure about, have to wait and see, but to be honest, I think it will be contract only across all networks for the first month of sales.

Sorry Dave, Im sure youve answered this previously, but is it more likely or unlikely that orange or cpw will have whites for launch?

Thanks for your reply Dave, yes both of my local Orange store's said that they will be offering PAYG on launch day. So I guess I will be going to the Orange store at 7 :)

So will you have white models or not.

After multiple complaints then finally getting o2 customer service to ring the store in York, you can now pickup a microsim. Really bad service almost made me cancel my contract.

I got mine off of the "register your interest" thing a day or two ago. It seem that their whole operation is pretty unbalanced customer care wise.

I spoke to someone at Carphone Warehouse earlier and they've got 8000 iPhones in their warehouse. I don't know if that's for online orders/phone orders/store stock or whatever but she did say that they're expecting to have no more than about ten iPhones in stock in each store.

Just wanted to post here what I posted in the Manchester Arndale thread. It shows what a farce this launch is becoming:

Just called the Apple Store, Vodafone, Orange and O2 are confirmed for contracts.

Birdcage entrance seems to be the best bet, there or opposite big wheel.

When asked about what Time people will be queuing, he replied 3am on Thursday and done Wednesday! I asked if I turned up at 5am, would there be many already there, like 100's and he said it wouldn't suprise him!

He couldn't disclose the number of reservations they've had, but said if I've reserved I'll get one, but obviously get there early if you want to get away quicker.

I'll probably call back Wednesday and ask about entrances again.

Is it worth calling the actual Arndale, see if they'll let us in earlier? ;-)

Not long now Gentlemen!

Just called Vodafone, to try and confirm they'll be doing contracts at the Apple store. He didn't know! They apparently don't have any sim cards at the moment. He told me to call once I have the iPhone! I reiterated that I wantba contract and he said they don't know yet and to call back on launch. He said he very much doubts Apple stores will be offering contracts as they only sell them sim free!

Bloody useless, all of them! How the he'll can the Apple store say they are doing vodafone contracts, but vodafone themselves not know?!!

I'm worried I'll queue up for god knows how many hours then find out they aren't doing contracts. So, so annoying. Why is this launch such a farce?!

Good news. Yeah, I was really annoyed that my wife trudged all the way in there, waited 30 mins and was then told that she couldn't have our microsims.

I'm heading in now to get them, and give them a piece of my mind!

All I know is the PLU for White Orange iPhone's is on our system, and it's the only network on our system to have a White PLU I don't want to say yes or no as I generally have no idea what is happening as again with even the likes of Apple not saying anything about why it has be delayed it's a curious one, but from my guess Orange won't have it on launch day, however if they do have it like I already said I will be nabbing one for the sheer hell of it, even though I prefer the black.

We might be offering it, however I am unsure of the answer, but if your local Orange Store is doing it best to try there first wouldn't want you too be disappointed. However if I find anything out between now and Thursday i'll let you know.

10? That's a bit of a joke.

Can someone confirm that Apple Stores in the UK keep your phone all day? I'm on hold at Meadowhall Sheffield trying to get through to ask them. Thanks

Got mine from the same store. Was there at 9:15 and there was one guy in front on me
Doing the same thing.

I have been trying so hard to keep up with this board but i see i have almost 30 pages to read. Well just wanted to say my Orange micro sim came in the post this morning & I phoned to transfer my number & it should happen in the next 10 mins, fingers crossed, seemed a bit too easy, I get the feeling it might be the micro sim is activated but not with my number, surely it would take longer than an hour? Anyway heres hoping:p

is there still a chance for vodafone to start taking pre-orders close to launch day?
i got this reply tweet from them the other day....

I can confirm you can collect any time during the day if you have reserved, just came off the phone from the store. :)

O2 are ringing people. Jon Honeyball (PC Pro columnist) just twittered that he's got a pre-order in via O2. He's got no reason to lie.
