Do you have news on your expedition ?

Mine, still "not yet shipped" ... F***

Have patience, Jesus, they are in the UK so it will be tomorrow, Wednesday at the latest!

Me too. My ol' 16GB 3G is looking very tired (and full). HD video recording is going to be used quite a bit I suspect so I need more storage!

My 3GS is 32GB and practically full so ye lol

Didn't get my micro sim in the post this morning so went to an O2 store and picked one up!

If you're going to an O2 store take along a print out of your Apple confirmation, they need the Wxxxxxx number.

Took O2 less than 3 minutes to transfer me from old to new micro-sim.

I'm sending my mum down with my conformation form tommorrow as i will be at work. When they transfer it over will they give me an adapter too as will be using my iPhone 3G until Weekend!?

You transfer it over yourself at home. No adapter comes with it, but it comes already inside a disposable normal SIM case, which the microsim can then be popped out of when being put in the iPhone.

Just called o2 to get PAC codes for two 11 year contracts. They refused to even consider altering any iPhone plan. No data, no texts, no minutes.
Vodaphone it is

Microsim?

Hi guys, I registered my interest on the first day it was announced with o2, but I didn't get a microsim today.. should I expect one tomorrow?

By the way, just to run through my plan.. I'm still in school yeah, but my mum (the contract is in her name anyway) is going to Exeter, can she do the early upgrade offer thing (£20 p/rm) and buy the new iPhone 4 [black, 16gb] on the £35 p/m contract all within about 30 minutes, at Carphone Warehouse? Or would it be a better idea to go straight to o2? I did put in an unofficial reserve with CPW though..
Advice?

Thanks :)

Also, I filled out the iPhone Unlock form either yesterday or saturday.. and I got a carrier update through iTunes today.. is my iPhone unlocked now?

Just got a text from 3 (i am an existing customer who has handed in his 30 days notice):

From 3: great news. You'll get an iphone 4 upgrade and we've already reserved you one for you. Find out more at:

I went to the link which states:

Your iPhone 4: Coming soon
Following your interest in iPhone 4 we're pleased to tell you that you'll get one as an upgrade.

You've probably heard that the phone is in huge demand. So to make sure you're one of the first to get the iPhone 4 on three, we've reserved one specifically for you.

And we'll be in contact in the next few days to confirm so you don't have to worry about calling us in the meantime.

Terms apply.

Obviously they ain't really reserved me I realise that. Sounds more promising though. :)

Picked up my Micro Sim at lunch today. Just got home swapped it over and it worked instantly. I certainly haven't changed my Tariff, the girl in the o2 store just gave me the sim.

WOW, dodgy practise there. Stinks of "lets tell our customers we'll definately reserve them one, and make it sound like they'll get it on Thursday so they don't buy elsewhere. Nasty stuff.

If I take out a sim-only deal from Vodafone, is there like an initial 14 day period where I can cancel if I'm not happy with the signal/reception I'm getting?

Last time I took a contract out through Vodafone I had major problems with the signal I was getting and 80% of my calls would just drop out, it was that bad. Strange thing is that according to their coverage checker the signal in my area should be very good!

Sounds like 3's doing business as usual then lol :eek:

I managed to get a micro SIM from the O2 shop in High Holborn.

I have to say, though, that it was an absolute joke in there. Staff that don't have a clue, standing behind a counter named "Guru Bar". Laughable.

casey,

I'm on a 30d simplicity and 2 separate o2 stores have told me I can walk in and pick up a new iphone without upgrading. are you saying they've got it wrong?

cheers
Matt

Point out how much the handset costs on the below link on a simplicity tariff...

http://shop.o2.co.uk/new-iphone/tariffs.html

o2 are not selling the phone 'sim-free' nor are they selling on PAYG at launch, so ask them what price you'll get it for. I'd be very interested to see what they say. As the website shows, it's only displaying handset prices for the 18/24m contracts.

I think many shop staff are very badly informed.

You can walk into a shop on 24th and buy one of these 30d or 12m simplicity tariffs *for* iphone... but not an iPhone for it (unless they suddenly decide to sell you an o2-locked one for £499/599 which will be pointless).

Oh that's a shame cos i have an old w800i i was going to use for nights out in case 02 don't keep my insurance at the current rate of £6 a month.

One guy at O2 said that i should be able to just phone O2 up and tell them my new phone and because it isn't a new insurance setup i should be able to carry on the £6 a month even though i get the phone sim free through Apple.

Hop this is correct as the normal iPhone insurance through O2 is £15 a month. I'm concerned that come thursday they will try saying i have to pay £15 with it being iPhone...if so will try one of independant sites or consider MobileMe as £15 is too much!!

(Oh n will have to check eBay for an adapter then if they don't give me one.
