Sods law that Thursday is my day to do the school run. I suggested I drag the kids to Kingston with me at 7am and make them stand in a queue for an hour. Wife was not impressed with the idea.

the IPCC doesn't lock the phone it just contains the carrier information, if you installed that ipcc on a sim free then stuck a different sim in it would work all the same except you would need to put the details in to the cellular details section to make sure it worked properly.....unless they are an official carrier then u wouldn't worry

I didn't mean lock the phone. I meant lock the IPCC data from being changed probably by checksum or some other method. Thereby preventing any alteration of settings such as APN. But I get your point about being able to edit if an unofficial carrier. Thats a relief.

Got my micro-sim this afternoon at O2's Old Broad Street shop in the City of London - a few in front of me doing the same thing.

Used the online service to register the new sim, wait for O2 to do their stuff and 30 mins later all done.

O2 instructions say you have to plug into iTunes to activate but this isn't the case.

I had to show proof of reservation but apparently at some stores this morning you could just walk in and get one - don't know if that's still the case.:)
Good old O2 - I went to my local store and requested a micro-SIM, they told me that they can't give them out until launch day (Thursday). I queried this, the manager was consulted, and he gave very short shrift and said he hadn't had any information about giving them out.

Taking a deep breath, and counting to 10... I showed him the page on the O2 website (http://shop.o2.co.uk/new-iphone/aboutsimswap.html) which says the stores will hand them out from 21st June. He humphed and hah'd and then looked on his system and found the instructions.

Finally, after 20 minutes of coaching the O2 staff on what they ought to know, I walked out of there with a MicroSIM. I did the swap online and I think it's worked, all ready for Thursday.

O2 don't half make it hard work!!!

oh right sorry, yeh I have tried to alter the original IPCC for Orange when I had my iPhone and couldn't even change the carrier logo, I am curious after seeing the playlist editing for enabling multitasking and wallpaper if there isn't a way to edit the plist to enable editing

Wow! I go out for a few hours and 20 pages are added!!

I have 2 topics of discussion for you all and I do apologise if they have been discussed already.

Firstly, I have pre ordered a iPhone 4 in black from my local Phones4U. £5 deposit guaranteed me one for Thursday morning which is the only reason I went there. However, I got the option of a white model and I explained that Apple aren't offering pre orders on a white model, o2 have confirmed that there is no white model, but he insisted that white was coming into stock. He even showed me an email from his head office confirming white pre orders will be honoured. I think this is very strange. I was sent a pic this morning from a friend who knows someone who works for an o2 store in the Metro Centre and there was white boxes in the pic, but only the back of the box was shown, so could be 3gs.

My second topic of discussion is did anyone receive an email off Three saying 'Pre order now' but then received another email without that in the subject?

Anyone else not upgrading to ios4? I'm gonna wait till my new phone comes then there will be even more new stuff to play with :D
I think that's a good theory

The boxes for the black iPhone 4s have white sides and possibly a white back. See the right hand side of this page: http://www.apple.com/uk/iphone/specs.html

Damn just noticed Quidco updated their Apple page with

Apple are paying commission on the iPhone 3GS but not on the iPhone 4.

Peoples,

Reference my earlier post on which I cannot get my microsim to be acknowledged on the o2 swap over website.

Can you look at your microsim card (paper outer) and confirm if it says pay&go in the top left corner?? If not what does it say?

Looks like another trip down town tomorrow.

Got my microsim from the o2 store in milton keynes took a whole 10 minutes and 5 minutes of that was idle chit chat.

Didn't get a converter though so will have to look elsewhere for one of them.

iOS4

I've had iOS4 on my 3G for a few weeks now. I am seriously considering downgrading. It's just too much of a memory hog. It's made the iPhone really sluggish.
