I'm planning on getting there about 7.30ish. I'll basically be getting up at the time I usually do but going in the other direction to Kingston. Apple suggested waiting at the main door.

That said, note this post from a little earlier:

cool. i havent reserved though so i think maybe i should head down a tad earlier.... i was thinking half 6.

Just got an email in my MobileMe account, the one I use for all Apple correspondences. I got excited when I saw I had 1 unread mail. Here's what the subject was: "WWDC for everyone.". Anti-climax :(

Depends on the stores obviously, but for both iPhone 3G and 3GS launches i got to the stores for 5am and was 3rd in-line ... on BOTH occasions by the time the store opened (8:02 - i'm sure you can guess the store) the queue was well over 100 deep and given previous stock levels (around 50-70 handsets) those arriving between 7am and 8am were going to be extremely lucky to:
1. Get an iPhone at all
2. Get served within 5 hours (given the pace at which the staff were processing)

Can't wait to see how Regent Street goes if they're dealing with thousands on the day ... truly insane

This thread hasn't seen anything yet .... can imagine the post rate is gonna go mental on thursday when all those upgrading on the day attempt to do so to find Apples & Networks servers collapse under the strain AGAIN

I can't expect them to have learned from their past mistakes .... they never do
This whole pre-order process has kinda demonstrated that...

Good luck to you all..

Maybe based on when you collect your phone they should issue you with a time slot in the day that you have priority to activate your phone. So that everyone isn't connecting exactly at the same time.......hmmmm maybe thats stupid thought but, i sorta know what i'm saying

Vodafone have told me that there won't be contracts available in the Apple Store. The Apple store have told me there will be. Who is right?

Less than 3 days to go and we know naff all about how contracts and upgrades will work in the Apple Store.

In other news my O2 microsim arrived today, I only filled in the interest form thing on that first day :)

Well, I'd guess that if they sold out on Thursday they wouldn't bother opening early on Friday...

I'd assume that but still, all the pages for the retail outlets say

"iPhone shoppers can stop by the store early:
8 a.m. on Thursday, June 24, or
8 a.m. on Friday, June 25."

I don't get why they'd do that?

By that I mean it seems so official that I don't get why they wouldn't follow through in the end.

They will be opening early on the Friday to sell any unclaimed pre-order phones left over from Thursday. Who knows how many there will be though...

edit; posted above

Anyone know if three have announced/leaked pricing. I expressed an interest via their website, and got a 'dear existing customer... We've reserved one for you and will call you to discuss...' Type mail today... bodes well for getting one... Still without pricing info, it might be a bit of a let down

To everyone asking what time they should get to their local stores. Have this in mind. I live in Bury St Edmunds, its a tiny town. When the 3G came out, i turned up at my o2 store at 6.30am. There was 20 or so ahead of me and they didn't have enough phones.

I reckon this launch is a least 3 times bigger.

Launch Date

I am new 2 the iphone and i have reserved the iphone 4 at the apple store but i wont be able 2 pick it up till around 4 in the afternoon, the store shuts at 8, will i still get 1?

Very useful post! It would be cool if more people who were early to previous iPhone launches could share similar information. Which apple store was this?

If you have reserved one then you can pick it up anytime before the store closes. If you don't pick it up, they will sell it the following day.
