im in the same boat - reserved at regent street but won't be getting there until after 3pm - store closes at 9pm. two different members of staff have told me over the phone they will hold it but reading all these threads has got me stressing...

Please don't tell me your taking the word of strangers on a forum over guys who actually work for Apple?

Hi guys, I registered my interest on the first day it was announced with o2, but I didn't get a microsim today.. should I expect one tomorrow?

By the way, just to run through my plan.. I'm still in school yeah, but my mum (the contract is in her name anyway) is going to Exeter, can she do the early upgrade offer thing (£20 p/rm) and buy the new iPhone 4 [black, 16gb] on the £35 p/m contract all within about 30 minutes, at Carphone Warehouse? Or would it be a better idea to go straight to o2? I did put in an unofficial reserve with CPW though..
Advice?

Thanks :)

Also, I filled out the iPhone Unlock form either yesterday or saturday.. and I got a carrier update through iTunes today.. is my iPhone unlocked now?

there is no official reservation at cpw, they will lie to get you into their shop. Go to the o2 shop. cpw have done this trick to me and everyone i know for the 3g and 3gs.

Just a heads up for those upgrading to iOS 4 today, it seems to deactivate your passcode if you have one so you'll need to reset it.

That said, Apple's servers seem to have survived the onslaught for the new iOS... they should survive Thursday, but who knows if the carriers' will?

Stiss, you're right man - i need to hear calm voices like yours lol. I guess cos i know i'm arriving so late (store closes 9pm and i will get there at some point between 4-7pm) i'm slightly nervous.

check the small print at the bottom of your reservation.

first come, first served.

Also the website says ‘while supplies last’

I have called the Regent St store and used the live chat function on the online store; and they have both assured me that my reserved phone will be held on the 24th till the close of business.

Yes but name me any shop which doesn't operate a first come first served policy?

You queue to pay in a petrol station and wait your turn, first come first served.

Same when you go to queue for your iPhone 4.

Game, places like that, where people have reserved or pre ordered a game??

guys, i know! but....... there could be the possibility that supply cannot meet demand!
Cant see them turning down someone whos queued for hours because he didnt reserve, thats why they state its FCFS. They know the people who reserved will still get one, why turn away a sale? Especially amongst all the hype!

When ever I have pre-ordered a game from Game they always take it out of normal stock anyway, straight from the glass cabinet like everyone else. You just get double points.

Though this wouldn't really be cricket on Apple's part, I certainly hope you are right!

Vodafone have told me that there won't be contracts available in the Apple Store. The Apple store have told me there will be. Who is right?

Less than 3 days to go and we know naff all about how contracts and upgrades will work in the Apple Store.

In other news my O2 microsim arrived today, I only filled in the interest form thing on that first day :)

In some respects, I am happy that I missed the first wave (my 32GB is due to arrive July 5th) as I've come to the conclusion that none of the networks have got a clue what is happening. I was originally thinking about getting a simplicity deal with O2 until they messed with the data allowance.
I would now really like to set up a sim only deal with Vodafone, but trying to get info is like trying to get blood out of a stone ..... I would get more sense from my dogs !! Orange are no better ..... O2 are crap ! How difficult can it be to organise this properly. Surely they should be TRYING to capture new customers.

Anyone who has pre-ordered through Apple Uk Store hoping to wake up with an email and status change tomorrow :) Can't be long now before we see a shipping no.

even i'm getting anxious now, and i've been telling people to calm down about it.....but if by tomorrow night we still havent got anything, then i'll worry!

Same, and I'm quite relieved now, since my uSIM has malfunctioned, and trying to transfer it is a pain in the ass.

What's the panic for. They will have our reserved phones there for us. In case you have forgot we are buying from an Apple store. Not a third party store. Apple obviously know how many the got for their stores and allocated accordingly. Otherwise the reserve and collect service on the 15 th would have gone for a lot longer than the two hours it did for my store.
