Agreed, I remember with the iPad launch they thought they would get them early but UPS were fairly religious in only delivering them on launch day (which was a Saturday over there).
Now, I seem to remember that TNT did actually deliver iPads a day early to a lot of people over this side of the pond.

I'm in the 2nd July batch (ordered first thing on the 16th :() so am hoping that they do actually have enough stock to satisfy some of those orders for launch day too

I'm sure they'll have had some cancellations... but maybe they have put any cancelled orders out to stores to build up stock.

Well, my status is still at Not Yet Shipped and delivers on 24th.

The iPhones are definitely at the Ireland Hub, or maybe even making their way to UK mainland by now. I heard some deliveries will also be made a day early to try and stop all the activations so the servers won’t go down.

Either way we will all be getting our phones on the 24th :D

I also got my UK iPad a day early but that wasn't a worldwide new product launch, Apple had released the iPad weeks ago in the US and there were already plenty floating around in the UK from people buying in the US.

Apple might deliver US orders early (to help spread load on the AT&T systems?) but equally they might instruct the couriers to hold them all at the local depots and not load them onto the final delivery vans until launch day. Apple have a history of doing that too so, until we hear tomorrow from the US, we really don't know for sure what will happen.

I understand what everyone has said but It's just a little bit of proof that Apple DO break release dates on some instances. I'm not too sure if they will deliver tomorrow, it's none of my concern anyway.

OK a few questions here would be great if anyone could answer!

As O2 are not releasing the iPhone 4 on PAYG on launch day I have decided to drive to my local Apple store in the attempt to get one. Except it isn't really local so.

1) What time does the Trafford Centre open on Thursday?
2) What time does the Apple store open?
3) Roughly what's the best time to arrive there for?
4) Will they defiantly be selling PAYG phones at the store?

Hope someone can answer these!

Thanks
Simon

Normally when there's a global release date, stock will be sent to the courier company in batches over the few days before hand but the courier will be under a delivery embargo not to deliver until the release date (though some occasionally do slip through the net).

However, with massive releases like the iPhone4 and games like Wii Fit and Call of Duty MW2, the courier companies struggle with the extra workload on the day, often having to employ extra drivers and vehicles as well as have staff work long hours so it may be, certainly in the US, that Apple have conceded to split the deliveries over two days, starting a day early to ensure that everyone promised gets theirs by 24th.

Not going to disagree with the speculation that this will also ease the load on the activation servers, but I think delivery logistics is the main reason.

1) Last year it was 7am
2) Apple opened at 8am
3) I doubt you will get in before 7am. Ring Trafford centre and ask to be sure.
4) Yes. But who knows how long they will be there.

1) What time does the Trafford Centre open on Thursday?
Not sure, I'm planning on rining the Centre's helpline/contact number later on to find out. I do know from the TC Apple store that the doors either side of them, alongside Boots & Selfridges, will be open.
2) What time does the Apple store open?
8am. the expectation is that there will be 2 queues, 1 for reservations, the other for walk-in purchases.

3) Roughly what's the best time to arrive there for?
For reservations, anytime as the handset is held until the end of the day. For buying on-spec, I'd get there plenty early to increase your chances. Perhaps a call to both Apple and the TC's own contact number itself might help in finding out when the centre itself opens. If you do find out, be sure to post back here!

DAMN!

Postman just been and no microSIM from O2. I deliberately didn't go to an O2 store yesterday as I was expecting to get one through the post, so hope they've still got some at my local store. Can't risk waiting to see if one comes through the post tomorrow, O2 said it should be today for those who registered an interest and ordered a microSIM.

Que?

(sorry, couldn't resist...)

Heh I always think that every time someone writes "Que" (which has happened a lot in the last month or so as you can imagine).

Maybe we should all give up and just say "Q" -- who needs all those extra vowels anyway.

Did they give any clue as to where they're shipping from?

Just spoke to apple rep about another order I have and then got her to double check my iPhone delivery date as it still says 25th - 28th even though my confirmation email says delivers 24th (due to a now canceled bumper). I explained the bumper situation and she said I still may get it on the 24th but she couldn't confirm that cancelling the bumper would have put the phone back to the correct delivery.

I asked where the iPhone was shipping from she said the hub in holland, true or not i don't know she seemed to take a few moments to find out. And no I don't have a screen shot it was a phone call.

I am a Titanium customer on O2, so I already have my Iphone 4, in fact I got it before Steve Jobs, I can't wait for Thursday as I have pre ordered the Iphone 4GXL with go faster stripes.:)

LOOOOOOOL I wish I wasn't at work so I could have actually lol'ed... it took a lot of effort to not lol...

Hi guys, I really want a white phone and I think that apple (like the 3g launch) will be the only people to get them due to limited supplies (also O2 have confirmed they wont stock them at launch so I reckon CPW won't either).

I'm bringing my girlfriend along with me to line up at apple store.

The scenarios are these:

1) I line up in unreserved, they let reserved people change to white iphones, I miss out on white iphone

2) I line up in reserved, they don't let you change reservation, i get sent back to back of unreserved and miss out on white iphone

3) I line up in reserved, they let you change, I get white iphone

4) I line up in unreserved, they don't let people change, I'm first in line and I get white iphone.

Which do you think is most likely or I should do?

And also, if I line up in reserved and my girlfriend lines up in unreserved (at the very front - I will get up as early as it takes) do you think people will be pissed if I just swap places with her if they tell me only people in unreserved line can get the white phone?

They might get mad... and to be fair... I think that they will prob let you switch to the white one if they have it (cuz they can just sell the black one to someone else) but if you wanna do the whole line up separately thing to make sure you get it AND make sure ppl aren't mad at u, you could just give ur gf the money to pay for the white iPhone if they don't let you switch to the white one...

I'm gonna give someone at home a call at lunch today to check, otherwise I'm gonna go in the O2 shop at lunch and grab one!

Yes but everyone who was trolling the member who first posted about O2 phoning Platinum members and offering them iPhone4s is now having to eat humble pie since it turned out she was right - she wasn't lying and it wasn't a scam. Not seen anyone apologising yet...

Sorry, didn't get onto this thread for a day or so, has anyone had any success getting a micro sim? I plan to go to my local O2 store today. Anything I need to take? My apple reservation confirmation?

I took a print out of my preorder to the local o2 store in milton keynes and that is all they needed to give me a microsim.

No adapter though!

Quite a few posts yesterday like "woo-hoo, just got my MicroSIM!", but unfortunately people didn't say if they got them though the post or from an O2 Store, and how/when they had ordered them.

Just spoke to my local O2 Store, and they confirmed I need to bring my Apple order confirmation along.
