The U.K. iPhone 4 Thread

I don't think it's "my shipping status just changed" posts that are taking over, it's the "will everyone stop posting about how their shipping status just changed" posts that seem to be clogging up this thread right now ;)
 
Nipped down to o2 Store in Connswater, Belfast. Asked the girl for micro-sim for iphone 4, she said have you confirmation email, I said yes and she handed me 1. Lovely.

Took less than 15 seconds for my sim to be swapped over. :cool:

Yeah i got my micro-sim today, took 5 minutes to activate, also checked my order on US store and is prepared for shipment, so a good day so far! :D
 
Just a word of warning if you've already got your microSIM and are using it in your current iPhone still in it's full-size SIM shape (i.e. you've not pushed the microSIM out of the normal SIM yet)...

I've just had a right job opening the SIM tray on my iPhone 3GS because the edge of the microSIM bit was sticking up slightly higher than the surrounding full size SIM and it wedged inside the phone. Check the thing is flush before you put it in! I now dread getting my new phone on Thursday and not being able to get the microSIM out of my 3GS!

it might do yes. if you buy it in store you get it in a little box similar to the ilife box with the code inside it.

mobileme is def. worth it imo. the over-the-air and contact and bookmark syncing alone are really useful, and the discount you got makes it pretty cheap. me.com is pretty useful as well :)
 
I’ve been out in town for a few hours so haven’t been looking on here. But I think… I think… peoples orders are shipping, tell me if i’m wrong! :p

Still, glad the time of uncertainty is over for most of you :)

Apple Store Trafford confirmed to me over the phone that they would be doing new contracts.
 
I have just received a text from CPW saying this, 'Great news! We would like to offer you the chance to be one of the first to order the brand new Apple iPhone 4. You don't need to do anything as we will call you today or tomorrow to see if you would to place your order.'

The text came from 'Carphone' which I understand is legit. I will await their phone call.

Has anyone else had this?
 
Mine's finally hit "Prepared for Shipment" :)

"Order Date: Jun 15, 2010 at 02:42 AM PDT" Think that was 9:42 GMT. Funny thing is I checked on the UK status order like 2 minutes before and it was still at "Not Yet Shipped". It seems they update their US version before the UK one.
 
I have reserved a iphone for pick up from the apple store in aberdeen, I will be upgrading from a 3g will I get a new micro sim in the shop or do I need to go to o2 first?
 
Just a word of warning, got a call about my preorder at orange that I paid a deposit for, they arnt going to be doing PAYG at launch and surprise surprise no white coming in.I just said **** it and ordered from apple, I dont mind waiting 3 weeks rather than queuing for hours outside the apple store.

For those of you who have chopped up your own sim before, what is the best tool for the job scissors or knife?

I think scissors, then a file to smooth the edges.

But, I’m wondering how to cut mine properly since I don’t have an adaptor or any sort of template to go by?
 
I got a txt yesterday from Three saying thanks for registering my interest for the iPhone 4, there is a big demand for it but dont worry they have reserved one specifically for me and they will be in contact in the new few days.

Did anyone else get this then?
