Carphone Warehouse Update

Ok, I've just got off the phone from a very helpful guy at Carphone Warehouse. Unfortunately, things have changed since yesterday. Apparently Apple is supplying about half of the number of units to third party retailers than they'd all expected. As a result, CPW will now no longer be making any sales/upgrades over the phone and all of their stock will be going to their stores. The upside is that they should have more than 10 phones per store. Apparently they won't be taking phone orders or online orders for at least the next two weeks.

Confusingly though, while I was on the phone to CPW I got a text from them saying I'd be receiving a call today or tomorrow to order the iPhone 4 but I'm guessing that's an erroneous message since up until first thing this morning CPW's plan had been to call people to offer preorders over the phone but that policy has now been cancelled.

I got a txt yesterday from Three saying thanks for registering my interest for the iPhone 4, there is a big demand for it but dont worry they have reserved one specifically for me and they will be in contact in the new few days.

Did anyone else get this then?

I asked my brother this and he didn't get it, but he is in Greece on holiday but I can't imagine that stopping the text.

Three did offer him a 16GB 3gs last month when he called to cancel, but he obviously said no.

i know there has been a "unexpectedly huge demand" for the the iPhone 4 but yet again stores seem to only be getting 10 or 20 units.. sure they expected demand to be more than this per shop. :eek:/

sim tray as template

Good idea!

But also, I understand microSIM is 12x15 mm, and the gold contact is exactly 12mm wide, so thats OK. But cutting it long ways, I wondered from which side i cut it, as the gold contact could align either way…if you get what I’m saying? Hard to explain in words...

iPhone Recycling

Quick question regarding iPhone recycling... what site have people found the best? I got a quote for £260 on moneysupermarket.money4mymobile.com for my iPhone 3GS 16GB last week and recieved their packaging yesterday... has anyone used them? Reliable?

Thanks.

Sorry to get back to the "Prepared to ship" topic but it might reassure a lot of you who haven't had it yet.
I was one of the last to pre-order at 8.24PM and it's now prepared to ship on the US site.
Shortly after I pre-ordered mine, they changed the delivery date to 2nd July on the Apple Store, but looks like i'll be getting it Thursday.

Well, this is Apple. I'm not going to make any accusations, but I truly believe they artificially create product shortages in order to create more hype.

If this thread is anything like other launch threads it won't be long before someone posts a screenshot including their order number and post code and wonders why 10 seconds late their order gets mysteriously cancelled...

Apple ID password, surely?

if it was a lesser product i might agree, but lets face it - they don't need the hype. why hold stock back that they could be selling.

apparently iphone 4 demand is 10 times higher than that of the 3gs, which was 4 times that of the 3g. i don't think even apple could have seen that.

Thanks rumorswtcf, Im a newbie so i Cant PM at the moment. Any other methods of communication avaliable through this?

Sorry mate, just called Apple Stiore - I would have to come in too and I'm not going to be able to on Thursday as have to be in all day for my delivery. Good luck though, I'm sure I saw another member saying 'yes' too :(

That's who I used for my 3G 16GB. Sent it Friday, got confirmation that they are now testing it. I've been quoted £205 for mine, not bad considering it's 2 years old and most other companies are saying £170.

The customer services were also really friendly.

That's handy to know, mine was changed to 2nd July so fingers crossed that they pull a lot more of these forward

Couriers are gonna be busy then.
