Forgot to say I'm on o2 on pay as you go, so can't get it from o2 or CPWH

I am on pay and do o2. walked into the story near work (oxfod st) they just wanted to see my confimraition email. Which they barely even looked at and then they gave me the micro sim. no prolems. just have to go home and set it up/ .

I got the same call they said you have been pre-selected as you are due for upgrade and registered your intrest. I am told the phone will land on my matt on Thursday. Insurance however has gone up to £15 a month and £100 on 1st loss £125 on 2nd and £150 on 3rd.

Out of intrest I am on F&F discount (30%) on a £45 a month contract but regularly run up bills of £300+ a month when I work abroad and use it for work calls.
Yeah it seems to be the people who spend £50+ getting phone calls offering the upgrades.

I had the same problem as you, and I swiftly switched onto the iPhone Simplicity contract but for 12 months. So, I save a fiver a month, and hopefully I'll have unlimited data for at least that time. :)

When I spoke to o2 earlier today to get the same deal they advised that even with the current 12 month simplicity they would be changing it to 500mb in (i think) November... whether this will happen or whether the advisor was confused by the upcoming plan I don't know..

I'm a bit confused about the micro SIM I picked up from O2 today.

I wanted a PAYG micro SIM, and they initially gave me a contract one, but when I said it was a PAYG I wanted they gave me a card with a micro SIM in it.

Nowhere on the card does it mention iPhone, plus it says "replacement micro SIM" on it, although I don't currently have a PAYG O2 SIM to transfer over. Neither the receipt nor SIM has any phone number on it, only the 19 digit SIM number.

The micro SIM number ends 3FF5

Have I got the right thing? Is this any use to put into a new iPhone 4 on Thursday?

Thanks.

NO WAY!

Just got THIS email from Apple!

I live between Manchester and Birmingham - it's not like I'm on some remote Scottish Isle!

Bet other people will be getting these emails too...

I think the micro sims they give you are empty, so it has no data or anything on it, when you transfer it'll put your details on it, aka if you're on Pay as you go etc etc. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Vodafone Micro SIM transfer

Called VF last week and asked for a micro sim to transfer my existing contact to - came today with a packing note that said 'iPad' on it - called them up and the contract was transferred almost instantly to the micro sim that I'm using with the O2 adapter that came with the iPad micro sim. Simple swap to my new iPhone 4 when it arrives.

:)

No, I want a contract on launch day, not a micro-sim.

So does ANYONE know of anywhere doing new o2 cutomers for contract (from o2 pay as you go) on launch day?

Looks like we're starting to get some movement from Apple on the shipping front.

I'm still at 'not yet shipped' though.

So whats the actual advice for the micro sim if you have reserved in an Apple store and are just upgrading your o2 contract?

i went to the o2 shop in Milton Keynes but they wouldnt give me a microsim because alas since the software update i did on my 3G killed me Cellular data i couldnt log in to hotmail and show them the sodding email, they point blankly refused to give me a micro sim.

quite appalling service actually...

I went to the apple store to borrow their internet to print off my reservation and the guy said Apple will give me the microsim on launch if im just upgrading from simplicity to a new monthly contract.

Does this sound right? he 100% assured me i need not bother with o2 and getting a sim before going to pick up the phone on thursday.

Thing is, I don't actually have anything to transfer onto it. I don't currently have a PAYG O2 account. I wanted to setup a new PAYG account when I start using my iP4 on Thursday.

Just got the same email in Northern Ireland (different name obviously:rolleyes:).

This seems incredibly poor. I wonder how many of their 600,000 pre-orders they forgot to stick in the post....

The orders for the States have been shipping for several days and they are hearing that they are going to get some a day early. I refuse to jump on the hater bandwagon, but I think that when I bothered to go through the pre-order process, they could at least have checked what the last day of posting would be.

Clearly, if they send me a Christmas card this year, I should have it for the New Year....

Poo.

How long did that take from the time your ordered mate?

I called them yesterday and they said they sent me one out. Still waiting on it tho.

I take it you are sim only, has anyone on contract been able to order anything from Vodafone??

Well a long winded way to do that is, pick up a normal sim from O2. Top up so its activated then do a transfer onto it. I read somewhere that O2 are not selling Pay as you go iPhone 4's on release day, so I don't think they'll have Pay and go sims yet.

I wish that was the case - I spend between 60 and 180 a month if travelling and havent been contacted - although they sent me a micro sim and i have started using it.

Might pop into my local store tomorrow!

:)

So, can I just check this please.

If I go into my O2 store and get a (free) PAYG SIM (simplicity?) and top up with £10, that will activate it and give me free web use? Is that correct?

I then transfer it over to the micro SIM.

I won't actually be using it for anything other than web use, so the £10 balance will remain intact. Will I need to top it up every month by £10 to get the continued web use, or will this give me 12 months free web use for the one £10 top up?

Thanks.

Does anyone know about Vodafones 'unlimited' text policy? Their website states a fair usage of 3000 texts per month, but I currently use approx 4000 (my gf is a big texter) and I have had no issues with o2 with that limit. I am worried that if I move to Vodafone then then they will bill me for the extra texts.

4000 texts a month

thats about 130 a day/8 per hour (if you're up 16 hours a day)/ 1 EVERY 7.5 minutes...

Surprised you have time to do anything else at that rate...

Got a call from orange this after noon too, they said i had been selected as one of there business customers who qualify for a iPhone for on thursday, i got a 32gb for £130.

not bad i think :) being delivered thursday :D

I just got this email as well, but I'm confident we'll still get it on Thursday, or perhaps Friday at the latest. Northern Ireland post always takes the same amount of time as the rest of the UK for me.
