i take it people in exeter are not gonna be affected by this courier excuse??? surely a big city in south west england will be ok??? please?? someone reassure me :D

People talking about Exeter makes me think I should of ordered from apple direct, I may be unlucky with a gamble to one of my stores.- Exeter is my closet store :O

Anyway a town with around 60,000 should be alright though? If I aim 8-9 in the morning, o2 and vodafone and next door to each other :O

Mikey, I feel the same as you -I always prefer to do this stuff myself.... HOWEVER, I have a suggestion (based on experience) -make sure that you check the new iPhone as carefully as possible before you leave the store, or just let them do the activation so that it gives you a chance to check it out for yourself..... the reason I say this is because if you get a faulty iPhone 4 (could be something major, could be a dead pixel or scratch) and leave the store with it, it could be literally weeks until you get a replacement, especially with the ultra-high demand this time around.
I hope this advice helps, it is worth considering ;)

Bugger, now i've changed my mind. Good advice, thank you.

That stopped me ordering from the online store as it said scotland would not get it for launch from them so i put in a reservation with the glasgow store. I never knew Linlithgow was that much in the wilderness.

no it didn't.

at no point during my order did it say that june 24th was not possible.
all my order emails said june 24th, and if i check the order on the apple site it still says june 24th.

i live just outside glasgow and is not deemed a delivery time problematic area (i work for DHL so know which areas are).

I am just wondering,

Have Apple taken/Held money from your bank account straight after pre-ordered on the website??
:confused::confused::confused:

I don't think my account have any changed yet after I have pre-ordered mine

You people crack me up!

Did you read any other part of your order except 'add to basket', 'pay' and 'confirm' ?!!

The small print reads :

"Delivers on June 24th excludes Channel Islands, Isle of Wight, Isle of Man Scotland and Northern Ireland. iPhone 4 pre-order limit: two per customer."

Honestly! This thread with be 20k by thursday

O2

I am just off the phone with o2 about using the Early Upgrade that they are offering. It clearly states on their website that you can do this in your Apple Store but the guy has advised me that Apple do not do Upgrades and only offer new contracts or PAYG!

I have a phone reserved at the Apple Store in Victoria Square and wanted to upgrade my contract but it seems I may have to take new contract out...

Agreed - at every step of the process June 24th has been quoted as delivery date.

Apple - get them courier vans moving up the M6 and M74 now please!

lol - I have images of armored courier vans full to the brim of iPhone4's with police escorts, helicopters and lots of flashy lights. hahahha!

There was an asterix next to the deliver by the 24th when the preorders went live that siad the northern ireland, the channel islands, scotland and the isle of man would not be guaranteed this date.

Orange Tariffs

Got my iPhone reserved for me at Glasgow Apple Store. Just making my final choices about tariffs - when I got my 3G in 2008, I signed up with O2 for 18 months and they let me change from the £35 to the £30 tariff after 9 months.

Does anybody know if Orange normally allow something similar? Obviously this kind of thing will be in the contract small print, but if there's a precedent it would help me to plan, thanks!

"uk bust due to iphone 4 policing requirements"

Yes but what about the rest of us who've also received these 'delay' emails who live near main English cities?

I'm still showing as 'prepared for shipment', so I guess my iPhone will be delivered with all the others to the delivery courier hub on 23rd, but it's just going to be left behind in the depot on the 24th when the rest go out for delivery because I live, er, 20 miles from the hub?

So as it stands I now need to plan to stay in Thursday (just in case) and Friday... but I've got my kid's school sports day on Friday afternoon. Thanks Apple, thanks a million.

I have a horrible feeling all UK users are going to get one of those emails from Apple...

but seriously everyone so far who has had it.....have been from N.I or scotland......so i doubt it.....and as other people have said, it already warned them it wasnt gonna be straight away.
