reserved line at birmingham took me 2.5 hours. they did bring us water and donuts after an hour though.

Was only in the store for 5 minutes, they really should have had a separate line for SIM free.

Regent street

Just been to regent street apple store. The reservation queue was around 300 long. Apple staff were giving out tickets for people to pick up their phones tomorrow.... Will try again then....

Just spoke to O2.

I'm, an existing Pay Monthly customer wanting to upgrade, but cheesed off that they insist I go in store (i.e. waste my time) until they get stock.

The first person I spoke said I wasn't eligible for an online upgrade (not a 'Platinum' customer) and I would have to go in store. I pointed out that I could do the same for any other network, and there was no reward for loyalty. I spoke to a manager, who was equally unprepared to help.

There was no interest in keeping my business, so I'll oblige them and move on. I've requested my PAC code and I'll get a new phone from the first network that shows interest in my business - with O2 back of the queue.

From O2 Website:
Where can you buy iPhone 4?

iPhone 4 is available in O2 shops, as well as Carphone Warehouse, Best Buy, Phones4U and Apple stores.

Unfortunately iPhone 4 will not be available on the o2.co.uk online shop or through our telesales teams until at least the end of July. ;)

Can anybody give me an update on the reservation queue at Trafford Centre?

Don't bother, got there at 6 and was told they might not get to me before the store closed. Gave me a ticket which will hold my phones until the end of business tomorrow

Third trip to the o2 store at 4.25pm after waiting all day for the UPS guy...... They were closed

Had to cut our sims down..... All working good now

I walked past the O2 store on the way home at 17:30 (I wanted to give them a kick up the backside about transfering to a MicroSIM) but they were closed! Thursday is late-night shopping here in Bath!!

Guys, is it outrageous to suggest that I could walk in to the Apple Store in Newcastle on Sunday (4 days time) - and just buy the iPhone at £499?

I mean, should I assume that stock will have gone by the late weekend (to those that have reserved them)?

I know each store is different and stock levels vary from place to place, but is it the assumption now that all the initial stock will have gone either today and tomorrow, and that the line 'we are expecting more stock later this week' sort of thing will come in to play?

I just want a 16gb iPhone 4 unlocked. Cannot go before or after Sunday (only in Newcastle for the England game lol).

Just had a look online and the Peterborough Cathedral Square store closed at 5:30 but the Peterborough Queensgate store is open until 8pm tonight.

Managed to get 2 iPhone 4s today, one for myself and one for my mother. Got mine in Bury O2 store at 9am this morning, was 25th in the queue and got one of the last 32GB, they had about 60-80 phones i'd estimate based on when they started to turn away potential queuers.

My mother had planned to join that queue but got there too late so she presumed she wouldn't be getting one. However, we went into Manchester and there was still a queue outside Apple so thought we'd join the queue, when we joined they said there was only a slim-chance but if we didn't get one they'd put us on a priority list. Around an hour and half later we managed to snag the 2nd to last 16GB.

Both phones now working great and both of us are extremely happy.

I've tried every trick in the thread to get my sim to transfer but alas nothing works. It seems like turning on and off, resetting network settings, resyncing and dancing around with the phones doesn't speed up activation/sim transferral. :(

I've noticed a couple of things on my phone. First it definitely has the signal loss when you bridge the gap on the left side of the phone. It's not network, I've got two phones and the one on the table stays fine while the one in my hand drops the signal. Only got it to say no signal once. Not really an issue I don't think, I'd never hold the phone like that anyway.

The other thing is a cosmetic defect. There is a scratch in the black paint on the rear glass (under the glass), it's a tiny silver mark directly in line with the camera lens and flash, see the picture:

I went at 6pm. There were 2 queues - one for sim free one for other reservations. Was about 20 people in the simfree queue, at least 60 in the other (prob a lot more - I didnt go to the end of that queue). I reserved a sim free one, but was still advised not to queue as they didnt expect to get through the ones queuing tonight. This amazed me considering the store closes at 10pm. Took my name and gave me a ticket to come back tomorrow. I suspect it will be a similar situation then. They seem to have to go through the activation process even for the sim free people. Crazy

Finally finished syncing, and noticed that I have about 3GB less space left than on my 3GS. After a bit of head scratching I reckon this is down to the higher screen resolution - I have a few iTunes films/videos synced to my phone, and I reckon that perhaps iTunes normally down-samples them to the iPhone screen size with syncing, so maybe the video files sizes are larger on the 4G than the 3GS?

I guess the same might be true of the down-sampled pictures that iTunes syncs with iPhones from iPhoto or Aperture.

You'll probably not see this post but I just saw in iTunes that under sync options it has checkboxes for "Prefer standard definition videos".

I went at about 11 and saw how slow the queue was moving and decided to leave it and go back tonight. Gonna have to go and get a ticket then go back tomorow it seems. Why take so many reservations if they haven't got the time to sell them?

Woo!! I just tried turning both of my phones off again at the same time and then turned my new iPhone on and it said it's activated and has signal!! I'm guessing purely a coincidence. Chances are if your sim has been transferred then your phone doesn't repeatedly poll the O2 network to see if it's live so turning it off and on forces a check which is why people are seeing it activate after turning it off and on.

To be tied in for 2 years? I would be uncomfortable with 18 months, let alone 24!

The SIM-only 3 plans are not 24 months, they are 1 month, or 12 months.

However, I've since been reading up on 3 on the Internet and it seems that everyone HATES them. Have read through some peoples transcripts with customer service reps that are truly horrendous. Might be best avoided after all.

Is anyone else having issues with iTunes reporting 'phantom' software updates for their apps?

I'm not so sure they're phantoms, or just the store isn't seeing them to update them, as I'm pretty sure I saw an App disappear from the list...

That updates available number is also creeping up...

Do you have apps bought from more than one itunes account? My G/f and I sometimes share the cost of more expensive apps and sometimes you have to log into each account to see all the apps that need updating.
