Just had that, if nothing happens after 5 mins, exit iTunes, reboot your PC (or kill the process in task manager if its still running) , and do it again. This time continue works.

unplug it from itunes and restart the phone a few times

Cheers guys, seems to have worked. Ive set the phone up as a new phone as i wanted everything 'factory' like, can i restore from my 3gs backup at a later date if i find out its missing anything i may want (don't think it will but just checking)

Does anyone have a good tutorial for me to follow to cut my sim to a micro one, i just tried and failed!

Also does the o2 pay and go come with 12 months internet?

From O2 Website:
Where can you buy iPhone 4?

iPhone 4 is available in O2 shops, as well as Carphone Warehouse, Best Buy, Phones4U and Apple stores.

Unfortunately iPhone 4 will not be available on the o2.co.uk online shop or through our telesales teams until at least the end of July. ;)

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know that's what it says... except we all know they aren't available in store... and I don't want to have to keep popping in on spec, just to see if they have stock yet.

I'd be happier if they said, you're on our order list in position #eleventybillion - at least I'd be in line.

Hey guys,

If you want/need to trim down your current regular SIM, you can. However, some of the older SIM cards have larger gold chips than newer ones, but it can still be done. I found a nice template you can use (if you don’t have an adaptor to use as a template)

Template: http://www.buy-microsim.com/pub/MicroSIM template.pdf

I have also uploaded a picture of my current SIM, showing which parts of the gold chip you CAN cut away at, as they aren’t actually used.

(The ones with the white dash CAN be cut)

Hope this helps!

EDIT: I have done this and it works. (I have even cut through some gold contacts…works perfectly)

I take it if a hair gets under the camera lens i'm stuffed??? It;s not affecting it at all which is good but just noticed it and got quite annoyed lol.

Just been kicked out of the BullRing empty handed!
Was next in line but Apple Store wouldn't let me in because I wanted a Three contract! The man said it was the worst network ever and he wouldn't do business with it - not my problem!

He did however let everyone behind me in for o2 contracts and PAYG!

He kept lying to me saying that all the networks closed their systems at 8, but then suddenly all networks but Three left theirs open! Constant changing of story!

So annoyed at Apple

There is still hope before 9pm then.

Mines been on the van since 7am

Enjoy yours. :)

Thank, you, I will :)

Good luck with yours.

I should also say that the lady at the Croydon depot said you should have about 5 "checkpoints" and it was extremely unusual if it did not (like mine).

I.e, There should be a scan to say it arrived at the depot and that it left.

Do you mean a hair got under your iPhone 4 camera lens? Did it happen after you bought it or was it there already?

How's the new phone treating you guys?
I just used the maps app to navigate around for a few hours in my car and the GPS is noticeably better then the 3GS! Even when I lost signal all together it was updating my position accurately.

i also can't wait for this thing to be jailbroken! It only feels like half a phone without all the third party apps I used to run.

Great result today - was going to chance my arm with Tesco telesales but at about 8am I thought why not see what stores have phone shops. Found one 4 miles down the road and got there with zero queue.

Staff turned up at 9 and the had over 30 phones but no SIMs, so they took name and the got a call at 3pm to pick up.

Easy as pie and sure beat the 3G queuing fiasco of 2 years ago! Also only on a 12month contract so roll on iPhone 5!

The quality of the screen is my stand-out feature so far.... it is un-be-lievable!
-and I haven't even taken the plastic off it yet!

went to apple store in leicester 3 times today. Queue huge at 0900 and 1300. Went back at 1850 as they were closing the line and telling people to take tickets for tomorrow. 2 people left so managed to get in at 1950 [closing at 8 apparently]. only a few people behind me in the sim free queue and 5 in contract queue.
One bloke was there that I had seen at lunch time, still in the unreserved queue - it was worth it as they let him in .
I know it has been p**s-up in brewery organisation, but I hope apple give the boys and girls in the stores something for there work today - they looked fooked

Orange PAYG - BIG WARNING

Sorry if this has already been mentioned but I've been queuing at an Apple store and then playing with the phone so I haven't kept up with the thread recently but I wanted to post a BIG WARNING.

I bought a handset at the Kingston Apple store on Orange PAYG and they processed it at the correct reduced (£560) price. I got it home and installed the SIM and started getting welcome text messages from Orange so it all looked OK. Luckily though I needed to call Orange to give them my PAC number and that's when I discovered that all was not well.

After giving Orange my PAC number I asked the guy whether the 250MB per month was reset every calendar month or if it started on the date of activation and he then told me that my SIM card wasn't showing as being an iPhone plan. He put me through to the iPhone team and they confirmed this and said it was because the IMEI number registered to the card wasn't an iPhone and that the card must have been used in another handset first. It hadn't been, as soon as I cut open the packet and popped the micro SIM from the plastic it went straight into my iPhone so I've no idea how it got a bad IMEI number associated with it. They asked me to read the IMEI number off the base of the iPhone box (don't throw it away) and hopefully by Monday I'll be on the iPhone deal and will get my free data.

So, be warned. Before you start using data you might want to call Orange and check that they really have put your PAYG SIM onto the iPhone plan.

Thanks for the info.

It's had three check points before "out for delivery" oh well. Hopefully tomorrow.

Thank you :)

I think I might be going visiting an orange store for a PAYG sim card, Orange Wednesdays :)

Orange told me that - as a PAYG customer - they wouldn't let me have a micro-SIM. It will be interesting to see if you have a different experience.

The only way I'd get a micro-SIM from them is if I switched to pay monthly (which I don't want to do) and then switch back after one month (which sounds slightly better, but I'd still be £30 worse off).

My iPhone keeps vibrating and telling me I need money to access the WAP, I have turned off cellular data and am only using WI-fi but it won't stop. Any help?
