I had the same problem with sim registration when i got home from O2 store. When i put the new micro sim into my iPhone4 an synced via itunes i was left wondering what to do next as the o2 website wouldn't accept my new sim. i got through to O2 c/s and was informed that when the O2 shop entered my new sim details on their system it automatically began the process.
i just waited 30mins and it came into life

i had the same thing - by the time i got home my 3GS sim had gone offline and so i plugged the new phone into iTunes to activate it and it picked up the O2 signal. i was wondering if i still needed to use the simswap website or not, but seems mine must have been automatically swapped anyway.

For Richy23's original question, i'd say that if your original sim is still active, then the process hasn't begun.

Mine was sim free from Apple.. I trimmed down my 3 sim to size, and it activated immediately, so something to do with O2 I guess? :(

Yup, I guess so. Very annoying.

If it hasn't transferred by 24 hours, then I can see the scissors getting broken out. Really didn't want to do that though. :(

Hey again guys, seriously, I know this isn't a selling thread, and yeah.. I sound desperate, but I would like to buy an iPhone 4 off somebody for £350.
(not that you would what too?) but I would even accept it on its own (no cables, earphones, manuals.. anything).. just the working phone (don't care if it has faults (like the screen blotches, reception, especially as Steve Jobs said that you cannot get rid of the signal/antenna issue, I would *love* to take it off your hands! ;D). I probably sound crazy, but I really want an iPhone 4 haha

I've heard O2 are selling them cheaper then £350 *disclaimer

*IF you setup a contract.

Oh and better change your signature as well unless of course you already have an iPhone 4.

Anyone who is having problems with activating, I got my phone at 12:15 yesterday and after checking it this morning at 7:00, it still wasn't activated so I turned it off then back on and it got signal!

So try turning it off first :)

anyone know if O2's swap my sim is an automated system or manual? Just i did it at about 4.30pm yesterday its now 6.26am the next day and my sim still isn't swapped :(

I think its automated as mine went through in less then 5 minutes. It might be down to sheer number of people although I done my mates for him last night (about 6ish) and he was up and working by 11pm.

Might be worth a call or trying it again see if it says you've already got a transfer in progress.

Wow, reading some of the stories on the forums tonight I feel incredibly lucky really. Turned up to the Touchwood centre at about 12, stood in the reservations queue for about 5 minutes when one of the employees came along and confirmed my reservation. Then about another 5 minutes later the same guy comes back, asks whether I'm sim-free or contract. I bought sim-free, so he pulls me out of the line and I'm done within 15 minutes.

But to be honest the queue wasn't really bad at all. I think even if I was on contract I'd only be queueing for about an hour or so even in the non-reservations line.

I went into Touchwood at 3.30pm to collect my reserved phone and there were no queues at all! Apparently all of their unreserved stock had been sold after lunch so there was nothing to queue for. The guy who served me seemed really pleased when I said I wanted it SIM free!

So is anyone else going on Three? I'm very impressed with their tariffs, and think they are definitely worth waiting for. The guy at my local Three store said that they should have iPhone 4s in stock by late June, early July. Do you think this statement is about accurate?

I'm stuck with an o2 contract, I just want someone's iPhone 4, because they're all out of stock everywhere near me...
It's pointless trying, SIM-Free units cost £499, I am just hoping someone bought an iPhone 4, discovered the signal problem and the fact it's permanent, wanted to change to a different phone and sell there iPhone 4.

:D

Have had no signal problems at all with phone it's fantastic and would not part with it only if I manage to get a white one in the future. It's amazing - well worth the wait

Even if they didn't want to sell it on eBay for much more than they paid, they could call Apple who'd send out a courier to pick it up for the full £499. You're right, it's pointless asking now.

This time next year you'll have a good chance, though :)

Just called Tesco Mobile on 0800 433 3994, it rang a few times then I was informed that the number is currently unavailable..........

I am definitely waiting for Three to get the iPhone 4 in, their tariff is probably the best one I have seen, and over 24 months works out really good value. Problem is they don't say on their website when they are going to be offering it for sale!! I can't wait!!!!!!!!

I had a reservation yesterday at Apple, waited 3 hours and got turned away because I wanted a new 3 contract! The man was an ar@e and wouldn't let me in at closing time, but let everybody else behind me in wanting o2.

He claimed 3 shut their systems at 8 (LIE as I called and asked!) and kept saying they had bad signal and didn't deserve the iPhone.

So, I'm now phone less as o2 disconnected me yesterday, as arranged. grr

Situation at Trafford Centre Apple Store Fri

Hi Folks

Has anyone been to the AS at the Trafford Centre today? Are people queuing today?

Cheers

Yeah, I'd love to sell you my brand new £600 phone for £350.

Email me at get.to.f@ck.com.

Any word on how things went at Glasgow yesterday? Just trying to see if there's any chance of phones being available today, although if they opened at 8 they've probably all gone by now.

Sim activation

14 hours for me and nothing......

My phone was direct from Apple, and I did the online sim swap myself on the O2 site. I'm not a parient guy at the best of times, and this is driving me nuts.

Just about to head to work, and the guys are all going to want to see the new phone. I can just imagine it now, "What do you mean it's not working, ha ha ha ha!!"

:(

Picked my phone up from the O2 store at about lunchtime, unboxed it at 16:00 after work, plugged it into iTunes to do the first sync and activation. Nothing happened, then about 90 minutes later I tried calling someone from my old phone, it fails to place the call, and just about simultaneously my new iPhone sim susdenly comes to life, showing full reception, whilst the old now says No Service. So that was about 5 1/2 hours between buying and the sim swapping over for me. :D
