Hi Folks

Has anyone been to the AS at the Trafford Centre today? Are people queuing today?

Cheers

I'm not heading back there anytime this week for anything!

I got there at around 6.45am yesterday and had to wait for my friend, we said we will join the queue together. At 6.45am there was about 25 people in the reservation queue. He shows up at around 7.15am and by this time the queue was around 60 people so we join it! Took us around 2 hours 20 minutes to get into the store. By the time we left, the queue was 3 times the length.

Overall I think I had quite a good iPhone experience. Went down to my local Apple store (Southampton) at 5pm after work to collect my iPhone 4. There was no queue, and the guy checking names said I came at the perfect time as there had previously been about 15 people waiting for over an hour. Was seen to straight away by a guy who was clearly very excited about the new iPhone. Walked out 15 minutes later with a lovely 32GB iPhone 4. Did the whole swapmysim thing at o2, and it took about 3 hours to port over.

Thankfully my iPhone is yellow spot free, and thanks to the £0.99p silicon case I picked up on ebay, the signal dropping is not overly noticeable.

Now, just have to decide whether to stay on o2, or move to 3 as their sim only tariff seems pretty good.

Going to buy iPhone 4 through Vodafone.

If I buy online just now do they take money from account at that time or when phone is delivered to shop for pick up ?

Thanks

John

Tesco Still Engaged.

I think they have still havent got their system up and running............

Still no activation, tried reseting network settings, taking out SIM, turning off etc.

Apart from doing a dance to the great O2 in the sky - is there much else I can do but sit here with my thumb up my @ss? :( I want reception to lose!! lol

Tesco Tethering

Can anyone who managed to buy successfully from Tesco confirm or deny if tethering is available to use and is possibly included in the monthly data allowance? Thanks.

Anyone else considering returning their phones? i am especially after reading Steve's response.

I am a little pissed off with this, the antennae system was touted as a major feature enhancement. Signal reception just seems so flakey, yes phones will have a change in reception when you pick them up, but in the past 12ish years of having a mobile phone I have never seen it this bad, maybe a bar but stable.

I will call apple and see what they say, the phone is amazing apart from this little issue that is the most important thing to something being a phone. In comparison to my 3GS which was never brilliant with a signal the 4 is terrible.

You can not tell people they are holding it wrong when it is the full signal that gets wiped out, look see how jobs holds the phone during the keynote.

Tesco Tease

Grrr - every now and then, instead of going straight to the engaged tone, there's a pause for a few seconds, before it goes to the engaged tone.

Just long enough to get your hopes up - then dash them!

Come on Tesco - buy a phone system that allows queuing or some sort of message to let folk know when or if you'll be selling the phones. I'll be hearing that beeping in my head all day.

Called O2?

both my sims have been diconnected - dont have a landline - could try skyping them lol - its probably an 0845 number anyway, GRR!

Not got any mates that have an o2 mobile you can borrow to call them?

If both you sims are not active then maybe its still going through.....

I have absolutely no issues with my iPhone 4.

Reception is perfect. Even if i cover the whole phone except the signal indicator, i still get a full signal.

I'm not sure whats worse....

Not having an iPhone 4
Having problems transferring to your sim like some have

Or my issue... having queued up since silly o clock for an Iphone but not being able to use it until Monday as I'm waiting for my number to transfer from O2 to Vodafone and they don't give you a temporary number for in the mean time!

Am I right in assuming that seeing as it's from Voda it will be sim locked and no way of unlocking like you can with O2? Just wondering if its worth hacking my O2 sim down to size or even seeing if I can get an O2 microsim and transfer it so I can use it over the weekend

To be honest, I dont think they have switch the phone system on (this is why we get the engaged tone) as yesterday I rang & was in a queue for 3-4 minutes until I got through to an advisor.

I kept getting the engaged tone all day yesterday until one time it started ringing then slapped me on hold! It's bloody ridiculous!

Right, I'm in the phone queue for Tesco. What's the betting that yesterday's "system failure" was ********, and today it's "still down", as they're awaiting stock?

Tesco do seem to be being a bit shoddy - if you knew yesterday you wouldn't be selling til today, then why not say that on the website that you're promoting the iPhone 4 on so heavily?

And if you're still having problems, why not put a note on that web page, or a message on your number giving an update.

Instead you let people phone continuously not knowing if you're accepting orders, or are just really busy.

Come on Tesco, talk to us!

Did someone say yesterday there was an alternative Tesco number apart from 0800 433 4994?

Still getting engaged and engaged and engaged.

There is, but once you choose the option, it puts you though to the same (engaged) line

It seems that Tesco's queueing system is very limited, so you'll get an engaged tone if it's full.

I'll keep you posted on how I get on. I've been in the queue for 9mins now. Was only 2 mins yesterday

Are o2/Carphone Warehouse etc selling iPhone4 cases yet? I didn't get one from the Apple store as I was in a rush to get in and get out, and my nearest Apple store isn't local. Thanks
