I found a fix to the reception problem.
Puts me in mind of repairing a pair designer spectacles with sticky plaster.

So a 16gb iPhone only has 14gb free that you can actually use
When hard drives are marketed, a decimal value is used rather than the binary value, which is the measurement that operating systems use. When a drive is marketed, the measurement of 1Mb is equal to 1,000,000 bytes – but to OS 1,048,576 bytes make up 1MB. So if you fit a 320GB hard drive to a computer, the OS (if not Snow Leopard) will report is as something around 305GB.

Under OS X 10.6, storage is reported using the decimal value.

This link explains it better then I do. http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2419

Tesco do seem to be being a bit shoddy - if you knew yesterday you wouldn't be selling til today, then why not say that on the website that you're promoting the iPhone 4 on so heavily?
Because it thought that some potential customers might go to companies who were selling it?

There is, but once you choose the option, it puts you though to the same (engaged) line

It seems that Tesco's queueing system is very limited, so you'll get an engaged tone if it's full.

I'll keep you posted on how I get on. I've been in the queue for 9mins now. Was only 2 mins yesterday

Any news? :)

carphone warehouse are doing buy one get one half price on iphone 4 accessories. i got the a belkin reveal and zagg invisible shield for £27

Brilliant thanks for that mate. Was going to get a car charger from apple but will now get one from CPW and pick up a half price leather pouch whilst I'm there.

Just thought I'd try ringing my local Tesco Extra (Shrewsbury) on the off chance:

Hello, just wondering if you had any iPhone 4's available

iPhone what?

iPhone 4

Let me just check...

...Sorry, that's not a phone that we plan to stock
And this was somebody in their mobile phone department. How can people know so little about their work? I know Tesco probably aren't paying a fortune to these people, but if I worked in a mobile phone department I'd like to think I knew at least of the iPhone 4's existence!

B*****ds at Carphone Whorehouse didn't tell me THAT yesterday  I paid full price for a Griffin Reveal which was fine, but didn't tell me about the BoGo50. I love British customer care, it really is amazing.

I don't believe there is a queue.

In fact I think Tesco's telephone sales consists of one phone on a desk that the sole person who works there has taken permanently off the hook cos as soon as they put it back on it makes a shrill ringing noise.

I think you might be right!!!!

Come on, we just need ONE person to get through to Tesco's to tell us if their systems are still down or if it's worth hammering the redial button all day.

Actually ordering my phone now

The call has been sheer confusion and chaos; I think the girl's new. Now waiting for her to chase a 'referred' payment, on the second set of valid card details I provided. Frustrating

48mins and counting

So just to confirm: you're ordering an iPhone 4, on contract, from Tesco's, over the phone?

What delivery dates are they quoting? Are you ordering a 16GB or a 32GB?

And did you use 0800 433 4994?

Thanks for the info!
