Spoke too soon!

Got through after about 10 minutes in the queue and..

TESCO'S SYSTEMS HAVE ALL GONE DOWN AGAIN!!!

FFS! She said try again in a few hours time. Great!

Got through, said there's a deeper underlying problem, call back tomorrow. Very, unprofessional!

Been trying to get Pay & Go from Tesco. Every time I phone they say they are updating the system and to call back at a certain time. Then just get the same story. They say they have stock but it is showing that they don't. Me thinks they are being economical with the truth.

I'm not sure how it applies if i've opened and used the phone. I'm also not sure if the cooling off period applies to the network contract. I'd rather know my cards before speaking to CPWH - ideally I'd like my money back, and my contract cancelled - on the grounds that the phone is faulty and they have no more in stock...

I spoke to tesco about this because im still not sure about getting one because of all the problems with signal people are having. With them at least you can return for up to 14 days for full refund and cancellation of contract. All you have to do is pay the charges for calls you made etc.

I assume this is industry standard.

I'm still in 2 minds about getting one :(

Reception issue

At home I get the left hand of death issue. I drove to the trafford centre for a bumper. However, Parked up outside the store I could not recreate the issue. Full 5 bars were rock solid.

Still bought the bumper (they had about 50 on display). The bumper does resolve the issue for me at home. I've emailed apple for a refund of the £25 that i had to spend. I'm going to keep up on them until they refund.

Nice view from the other side of things here:

Interesting, thanks for posting.
After I got my iPhone at the Apple Store yesterday, I decided to check other retailers for accessories. I popped into CPW and the employees there were asking "Did you get an iPhone? Can we see it? We can't get our hands on one" and I remember thinking to myself "this can't be right". Whilst a lot of salespersons in phone shops (and shops generally) offer poor customer service in the UK, I really felt for a lot of people this time as their head offices (& Apple) seems to have given them poor information about the launch.

I don't know if this will help anyone here in the UK, but I just spoke to Carphone Warehouse who told me providing I go back into the store within 14 days, they will give me a full refund AND cancel the Vodafone contract - leaving me with nothing to pay. I am going to wait a few more days, see if Apple announce a recall / software update, and if they continue hardball, the phone goes back and I get another phone / wait for a new fixed version!

how is it unprofessional? have you ever worked in a call centre? **** happens, systems go down. When there is massive demands and huge call volumes a lot of people's systems run slowly and have the potential to go down. It happened when I worked at Virgin Media, it happened at BT and it has been known to happen now I work for T-Mobile. If she's asked you to call back tomorrow then its something massive.

Dont spit the dummy out, mate

FYI Apple Store in Milton Keynes had stock left over from yesterday and no queues at opening.

So I have my 32Gb iPhone now. :) Phew. :p

You might have picked up mine! :) :D

I was going to pick up my reservation, and just ordered online from Orange at the last moment as something came up.

Yeah I worked for E.on and price change announcements would basically **** the system up for the remainder of the day. Standard - The system is designed to handle so many users and an average of searches on the database - When a big announcement / even occurs - More users = More Searches = Meltdown.

For a whole day though it must be major or there trying to get it up and running. Its probably worth ringing back late afternoon just to see if things have improved.

If it helps O2 still have some stock left in some stores. Mainly 16Gb but if your prepared to drive and have an o2 contract currently at least you will get the phone.

If you think thats mad, none of the network providers have been given an iPhone 4 to train their advisors on how to support it. All they get is demo 3GS units with OS 3.1.3. I know people in all the major networks and none of them have seen an iPhone 4 except those who bought them yesterday

Anyone else considering returning their phones? i am especially after reading Steve's response.

5/6 July delivery for me so I've got a few days to read feedback and reviews before deciding whether to cancel the order. Keeping an open mind until I know more. The proximity sensor issue is also a concern. Are you definitely returning yours?

Proximity sensor issue?

How are you chaps insuring your phone? On your house insurance? The £15 a month by o2 is frankly ludicrous, there's even a £100 excess on your first claim. I signed up for it, knowing Ive got 14 days to cancel.

No cooling off period for in store purchases.

If the phone is faulty, then according to CPWH you have 14 days. Are you suggesting that when i go into the store, they're going to tell me FO? I hope not! But i wouldn't put it past them.

If the phone is faulty, and I cannot use it for calls properly, then surely they should give me my money back...

Is your iPhone unusable?

IF apple do announce that there is a hardwae problem and recall tehn you will get a brand new iPhone then no questions asked... the serial on the iphone will tell them its a faulty unit and you will walk into tan apple store and in 10 mins walk out with a brand new working iphone... such is their usual policy on faulty iphones.

I think you are jumping the gun cancelling your contract.... 14 days from Carphone Warehouse is alot less than the infinite time apple will HAVE to give for recalls.....

yes, when i pick up the phone (when ringing), it rarely connects the call.

as for jumping the gun, a recall is going to take months. Why should i be paying £35 per month for an overpriced contract while I cannot use it?

Order from Carphone warehouse?

Anyone else in the same boat as me??

Got a text from carphone warehouse yesterday saying give us a call if you want an iPhone 4, which I did, at about 2.30pmish, the chap said that there's a 95% chance that it'll be delivered tomorrow, but as of now (12.35pm) no sign of any package for me, and I did request delivery before 11.30pm..

Anyone else have a similar scenario??
