Flumps,
I would like to say my experience with tesco has been brilliant, but I have still yet been able to order the iPhone as the computers have been down.

And so this thread is beginning to die down. Its been an awesome thread though, and everyone contributing made it a nice little iPhone community! :)

What will next year bring!

Apologies as I'm sure this has been asked but I've been back the past 20 pages or so and can't find an answer.

Am I able to buy an iPhone from the Apple store and start a new contract in store, paying the network's subsidised price? i.e. £219 for the 32GB on Vodafone for the £35 a month tarriff?

I did this with the 3G 2 years ago but not sure if it still can be done.

BTW to the people saying stuff about the £350 I offered, it was just an offer, if they paid early upgrade offer, but then just wanted to sell the hand set, it would be £231 profit from £119. You are dragging it too far now, grow up. When you post, make it relevant to the actual topic?

Hmm thing is see you say that but then you original posting wasn't relevant you said yourself this isn't a for sale / wanted section.

As for your activation - Your sim card needs to be working for the activation process to work. So if your micro sim doesn't work you cannot activate.

Thats my understanding since I restored my 3G to factory settings and then I needed to get a sim card to get the iPhone activated.

I hope someone can answer my question. My friend wants an iPhone 4 and we're going to arrive at the Regents Street Apple store at about 8.45am tomorrow and line up for one.

I got mine from there today and the line was about 3-4 hours.

Does anyone know if they'll have stock tomorrow, and what the line should be like just as they are opening?

I was just watching some videos of the Regent Street queue the night before launch. Respect to you all.. it actually looked like an awesome experience. Someone should do a write up full of queue tips such as where you went to use the bathroom and other handy tidbits.

Not sure about regents street - Best thing to do is call them.

However I do know that some apple stores are being restocked alongside O2 stores so that obviously bodes well for your friend.

If you can, I'd get there a lot earlier than that. The store opens at 9am.. by 8.45am the queue will be rather long I expect. The demand for this thing is huge. According to a twitter post there was still a queue at closing tonight so those people will probably return tomorrow first thing.

"Awesome Experience"?
Maybe for some, but that would be my idea of HELL.

Thanks.

Think he wants one on Orange so we'll hit an Orange shop before we depart for Regents street (it's about a 50 minute train ride there for us).

Flumps, I got an iPhone 4 from tesco and so far they've been great.
I went to a tesco store in Rotherham on launch day, didn't get there till 11.30 and they had quite a few 16gb models left. I get one on the 12mth £20 a month contract. It uses the o2 network which is what vie been on for the last 4yrs. Good reception, no issues etc I live in Sheffield btw.
I feel like I've got a bargain as I was all set to go to meadowhall apple store and pay £500 but only paid £350 with the 12 month contract.
And I absolutely love it. It's fantastic.

Can the dedicated v4 dock take the phone with it's bumper in place or do you have to take it off?

And do you have to do anything with the light sensor to make it work, doesn't seem to be working in the dark just now, screen is very dull.

Very impressed with the Apple store, didn't take too long this afternoon to get a couple of sim free handsets, but it was clear that it was taking a massive amount of time to get people processed who were doing upgrades and taking contracts out.

it doesnt take the bumper as i just found out!!!!!

youd think they would make it compatible with their own cases

Might be off topic but I wasn't getting any help in another thread..

My girlfriend and I both got ip4's yesterday. When syncing with iTunes mine is fine but hers causes it to crash every time(iTunes not the phone). She managed to create a back up/restore from her 3G fine - just needs to sync music

Running on vista btw, and all files seem fine I.e. Not corrupt as they sync to mine fine.

Any help or advice greatly appreciated

P.S. I love my iPhone, it's actually better than i ever expected!! :D

Do Tesco iPhones show "tesco" as the carrier name or does it show as "o2"?

Apparently they show O2-UK as carrier. It was one of the questions on the FAQs at the tesco site. (why doesn't my carrier show as tesco mobile?)

Personally, i could care less as the phone is that much of a bargain and I really want a 12 month contract so I can do it all again next year lol. Although my hubby said it would have put him off buying from Tesco!

I'm going to attempt to get through to tesco tomorrow morning and order as our nearest one is over an hour on winding welsh roads!!!

Need some advice, ive ordered a £600 iphone 4 32gb from apple, due for delivery around 15th of July. Now just seen the tesco £670 deal for the phone 12 month contract, unlimited texts, not sure how many minutes and 1gb data a month. Now im wondering whether to buy the iphone 4 tomorrow from tesco instore and possibly get an iphone with the bottom left hand corner signal dropping problem, possible yellow patches on screen and only having 1gb internet a month.Or I can wait til the 15th, buy the iphone outright and hope that the phones signal problems have been sorted by then, pay £10 a month payg on giffgaff and get unlimited internet every month as opposed to 1gb limit, but costing £50 more at £720 for the phone and 12 months payg giffgaff.Opinions?

Anyone?

You know, the only thing mitigating my anger at the moment to the signal issue is the fact that Apple have not yet charged me. Monies still in my account perfectly safe and usable.

Makes me wonder if steve isn't feeling a bit guilty about taking £600 for a phone that can't make calls with being insulated in rubber...
