Gutted, went to the Apple store tonight in Belfast, and just as I got in the door they sold the last iPhone 4! Hope they get another delivery soon

Need your quick advise.

I have a relative whos now in Hounslow London that will be going home, and his filght will be in 12-15 hrs from now. Any suggestions where he can buy the iPhone 4 with stock and with a manageable cue? Can he buy 3pcs in one time?

Thanks!

The tesco tariffs are fantastic... I'm still trying to find out what the catch is.

The catch is that they won't let you buy them :). Never in my life have I found it so difficult to GIVE a company £300 and another £35 every month after that, it's as if they don't want my money

They have mentioned it on there site that they won't be doing PAYG at launch. http://shop.o2.co.uk/new-iphone/tariffs.html

Ta - first time i have seen that, cheers.

It almost certainly wan't there when i searched the site on prelaunch day to order a phone for the 24th. And as :apple: was the first place to open for business - they got my custom.

You haven't been sent a O2 PAYG phone from Apple you have been sent a Sim Free phone which can be used on any network.

Yeah - which i foolishly thought would include O2. :D

what you need to a PAYG microsim which they are giving out.

That's the funny thing.

The store had no idea whether they were or not

The sim transfer lady said they weren't until the end of july

The PR lady that called is sending me one (will post if that turns out to be true)

Its frightening how clueless and organisation can be about what is a fairly popular

You most likely confused them

Aye - Good job i didn't phone them while they were ironong or ask them the time while they were drinking a hot cup of coffee. :D

Anyone know if Tesco are handing out micro sims to people who bought from the Apple store?
yet another example of people buying to make a profit on ebay
No wonder its hard to get hold of these whilst parasites desperatley try to make a few quid

Chester Sim-Free

A mate of mine is looking for a sim-free 32gig Black and he lives in Chester. Does anyone know what his best chance is to find someone who has them in stock and so he doesn't have to travel too far ? :)

Thanks

holding up is a ambiguous term... the signal when you BRUSH the edge will go. O2, Orange, Vodafone, I've tried with those sims in the phone. I go from 5 bars, 3g, if i gently touch the partition on the bottom left of the phone the signal will rapidly decrease, going from 3g 5 bars to edge 2 bars to no bars no edge then no service.

SO FRUSTRATING, and will be brow beating an apple employee once this whole situation is released into the wild to send me a free black bumper. Im not buying a phone that does not work when you attempt to use it, unless you pay an unnecessary £25 case which you THOUGHT was optional.

Thanks apple. Really.

--But yh, the phones nice. Real nice. Signals just pissy--

Whats the point of buying a phone with signal problems ?
Just form an orderly queue and take these pieces of crap back to apple for refund
£500 for a phone and then they expect u to put an elastic band round it to make it work properly !!!
Are you mad !!!!!

Hang around the Apple Store in Liverpool One or one of the Manchester Apple Stores every morning waiting for their deliveries.

I was in Tesco earlier and picked up a leaflet with their iPhone tarrifs on, and it says at the bottom in small print that the pay monthly triple points offer expires in Sept 2010, and the pay and go triple points offer expires in Jan 2011.

So there are no stores in Chester that will sell a sim-free iPhone 4? I suppose if your buying from an O2, Orange, or Tesco store then they are only selling ones that work with their sims?

I called up Apple Regent St and went through to technical support. Explained the signal issue. They feigned surprise and no knowledge of such problems. Got put through to a senior advisor. She went through the motions again and when I mentioned the bumper fix she again went through the charade of only JUST knowing about a bumper etc. Then she said it not only protects your phone but BOOSTS SIGNAL. I really wanted to laugh at that point but she said as a courtesy gesture for my "inconvenience" she will send me a free black bumper. She said I can choose a different colour but that was the only one they have in stock. So I just thanked her and went on my way.

So be nice. Explain. Go along with the charade and you'll get a bumper to sort out your signal.

What a joke. I read about others getting sent free bumpers, so I gave Regent Street a call at around 8pm. After about 15 mins explaining/begging/pleading to a "manager", he insisted that people who called earlier may have been sent out free bumpers, but since the "official statement" from Apple saying that we shouldn't hold our new phones in a certain way, they were unable to send out any more. I grumbled about how it wasn't exactly fair and that, having shelled out £599 for a new phone, being asked to throw an extra £25 at them just to make it work "properly" was a questionable business practice... but the guy just wouldn't budge :(
Can anyone confirm who they spoke to and when?

sorry..but im not going to bother with the iphone...who on earth wants to spend £599 for a sim free and £319 for a contarct phone that is a design cock up...i mean come on...i thought technology was suppossed to move on...having to hold a phone in a certain way for it to work is a joke...im currently using a nokia 6300 a great little phone but its old and yesterdays fashion..but you can hold it anyway you want no signal issues....and suppossedly apples new phone is the new thing...hmmm having to hold it in a certain way is a joke..how on earth can apple release this..soory to say it but a piece of junk...what with the screen problems..signal issues..what a diasaster....im sorry to say but HTC desire here i come..a complete phone and having looked into both phones extensivly the htc wins hands down...and certainly cheaper..i always thought with apple you were buying the best products....not anymore....profits come first now....

So can anyone clarify that I can get a free bumper? It sounds cheap, but I am too pissed that I have this signal issue, I agree with everything naths said. It comes unlocked right, to really the phone is actually worth £599 (even though I got the O2 contract) and it doesn't work? Having a product recall for the people who complain is one thing.. but them 'selling' you a case, which is the only thing that 'makes' it work? I thought Apple had more class than this..

Should I call the Apple Store I bought it in (Exeter), or shall I call customer support?

PS. Re the signal issue. Is it just the corner 'section' that is sensitive? (under the line between the two metal bands) or is it somewhere else?

Good morning to our UK members! I'm in Florida using Pandora's multitasking abilities as I type this. It's good to see "y'all" here with your own thread. I've enjoyed reading your thoughts, experiences and found that we all our as happy or as unhappy in many cases with known issues (sorry, non issues!).

Enjoy your Saturday morning!

Both micro sim switchovers were quite quick for us but my wife's Simplicity tarriff doesn't seem to include any texts whatsoever. Her minutes are showing fine, but her text allowance is 0 and we're already getting charged for them. Time to call O2 today I guess.

http://stock.o2.co.uk/

Go to an O2 shop instead. Much smaller queues and the stock checker above tells you who has stock. :)

Looks like O2 are rather short on stock - only a handful of shops have 32gb in stock. I am considering moving to Vodafone as O2's signal is poor at best in Portsmouth, where I live. Anyone out there from Portsmouth and got an iPhone on a network other than O2?

I am going to see if Vodafone have a stock checker.

so, got my iphone on thursday, immediately getting antenna problems.....

i dont see how this can affect some and not others..... my moneys on hardware due to a specific point on case causing trouble!

anyone else feel disappointed and slightly embarrassed by this issue?????

i go on at my friends so much about iphones and now their loving it!!

plus id just bought a bumper which apple should be bloody dishing out for free!!!!!

do love the phone though, no yellow screen everything fine barring the most epic of fails that if holding the "wrong way" it doesnt work :mad::mad::mad::mad:

im guessing this has slipped through the net due to the people testing the phones out in the field with a plastic case on, to disguise it!! therefor they'd never know about this issue

Heh that's what I love about being British - we all pulled together when we were trying to pre-order or find info from the networks, but now it's back to normal and we can get back to slagging each other off :D

As it happens, I just had a look at his eBay listing and there's a good chance he could be severely out of pocket if a buyer with half a brain cell comes along heh heh  I'm half tempted myself.

Your relative is going to take a cue? Are they playing snooker or pool whilst waiting? ;)
