This is getting beyond a joke. You would of thought they would of increased the amount of calls they can handle.

I went to Tesco's in Gallion's Reach, they customer service assistant there said they out of stock and would probably get more stock in at the end of July or beginning of August.

I wouldn't bother calling Tesco's to order. The lines are always engaged, just go down to the store.

Carphone warehouse in Barking IG11 are getting stock in on Tuesday. I pre-ordered mine.

Good Luck to those of you still trying to get a iPhone 4

I know a couple of people that have got through to tesco and the latest news is:

The systems are back up however, they are testing them now and won't be live until 12/1pm

Just trying to get through to tesco mobile now. I'm on O2 but the tesco mobile plans are SO much better aren't they! I know tesco mobile uses o2's network, but does anybody know if it's actually any WORSE than o2 for reception/coverage?

I ask just because i'm wondering whether o2 would get priority over the network seeing as tesco mobile 'borrow' o2's network? If anyone's on tesco mobile, how does it compare to other networks?

On the other hand, would it be a better idea to go with Three? Their plans look a lot more impressive than o2's and I saw a post on this forum saying three were the best for 3G reception and o2 were the worst! Is this true? ...And what would be the downside to going with Three? ...again, anyone on Three, any help would be appreciated!

Downside with Three is that you're stuck for 24 months for £30 month at least. Although the overall cost between Tesco's £20 month plan and Three's £30 month plan for the 32GB iP4 over 24 months is the same.

Are Tesco's trying to win an award for worst customer service?

I spent the last couple of days trying to get a phone from them but after all the horror stories I wouldn't use them if they were giving them away.

Imagine what it would be like if anything went wrong?

It's beyond farcical.

I am on the verge of telling Tesco were to stick this iPhone. They are just messing about with customers now its ridiculous!

Just got through mentioned iPhone 4 and they put the phone down on me!

Orange 32gb Shipped!

My 32gb just shipped out from Orange - I went for the 24 months 35pound a month. I originally ordered it at 12.30 am on the 24th but the order didn't go through because I used a different card to pay than I usually do so they needed to do a credit check but when I rang the chap didn't seem to think I ordered it correctly to upgrade from sim only to contract so he re-did the order and said it could take a while to ship as they aren't in stock but I guess they have gained more stock or had some cancellations!

When I got my phone on Thursday from tesco, the phone was ringing quite a bit and the guy was just getting annoyed, it's the same people who answer the phone as who were setting up contracts and he was getting the same questions over and over again, he was just hanging up on people in front of us. I remember thinking 'well that's a bit rude.' but then again, I saw it from his side.

Yes, I do have to sympahise with them in a way but a pre recorded message would be nice save me getting excited when i finally get a through.

Or a message on their web page?

For the past two days that their systems have been down and staff getting exasperated with all the calls, the Tesco web page was still urging us to call and order.

Yes the website would suffice.

I suppose all this waiting will make me appreciate the phone even more when I finally get it.

Personally I am not a fan of Tesco - I find their fresh food not to be of great quality and I don't think I could bring myself to get a mobile on a virtual network after having experience of Virgin - particularly as I am not happy with O2's reception and speed in my area and that is what Tesco operate on!

The Tesco situation is crazy

I have a phone number and an IMEI, but 3 cancelled orders. No one there knows what's going on, or when it'll be resolved.

If their contact wasn't exactly what I want, then I'd be nipping out to an O2 shop later to upgrade

What number are people using to contact Tesco about their cancelled orders?

I'm going to sue Tesco mobile for giving me repetitive strain disorder. I must have pressed the hangup>last number dialled>call buttons 500 times in the last hour

adibell,
I would give it a rest for a bit. Doesn't look like they are taking orders until this afternoon.
Think im going to wait till around 2pm after the rush and see if they have anything left.

I was in Tesco earlier and picked up a leaflet with their iPhone tarrifs on, and it says at the bottom in small print that the pay monthly triple points offer expires in Sept 2010, and the pay and go triple points offer expires in Jan 2011.

£20 a month is the incentive, for 12 months, not 'points' :)

Tesco .. hmmm

Ok .. just got off the phone with them. I have three numbers that I have been trying in succession! (0800 433 4994; 0845 300 6660 and 0800 001 4150) I got through on the 0845 number just now.

Anyways, the guy said that they did have phones but now they have run out! He had no clue on stock availability and referred me to the 0800 001 4150 number as the people who will know!

This is a mess but, for now, I'm sticking with the idea of Tesco - partly due to pricing and partly because I figure if it takes a few days the 'fix' (however they plan to do it) for the signal issues will be in place.

Would be interested on any further 'Tesco info' tho from people who manage to get through to them today.

It uses the O2 network...

My issues are with the price, not with the coverage or how many points you can make.

I dont want an 18 month contract and the tesco 12 month contract is only just a bit more expensive than going SIM free and £10/month PAYG.

So coverage is not important?
Really?
Taking it to a slight extreme:
You'd go for a cheap phone with no coverage over a more expensive phone with good coverage?

If Tesco did a £5 a month contract but you could only make calls from inside a tesco store, that would be ok with you?

No.

I am currently not considering getting an iPhone 4 at this point. I have two decent phones [sig], which have a great HSPDA signal where ever I usually go.

Coverage is important; I never had a problem with O2 in any of the areas that I frequent, so I don't see what the problem is.

I think a bigger problem with this phone is that this expensive phone loses signal no matter what network you're on, if you hold it in your left hand!

I was replying to you because I found your "it's on the O2 network" as a catch comment, rather unhelpful and pointless. What do you mean? O2 have data trouble? O2 have coverage trouble? Both were fine when I was with them.

Are all numbers for the online ordering ? The website only mentions 0800 433 4994

Went to Watford Extra, Harrow & Weald, and a couple of others around North London - no stock. The people there were a bit surprised at the fuss over the iPhone, looks like Tesco didnt really plan *any* part of this launch :)

And been calling the 0800 433 4994 number since yesterday, nothing but an engaged tone ... how did you guys ever manage to get through ?
