Not happy with Orange

I got the iphone yesterday, and went to order micro sim from Orange. Guy tells me I have to pay £10 a month for the Orange micro sim for Iphone and ipad... Its £10 charge or a full on iphone contract.

Really annoyed as the apple folk didnt know about this.

What did I do? I cut down the original sim and it works!

Saved myself £10 for 24 months!

Score.

Just got back from the Apple store in Cribbs Causeway in Bristol and they have replaced my phone due to the yellow screen. I got a new one out of a sealed box behind the counter.

This one seems fine, no screen issue or dropped calls.

The Genius did say to me that they still have 16 phones left in stock there if anyone is nearby.

After just ringing Tesco again they confirmed they have no stock. They told me there call centre was working at 10am this morning but it clearly wasn't as I spoke to them at 10:12.

I am disgusted with the way Tesco have dealt with this.

Just incase anyone was wondering I spoke to the manager and he told me they only had 500 to sell.

A friend of mine just went to bullring Birmingham and brought a 32gb iPhone 4 had just had a fresh supply of stock that no one new about, he didn't have to me a reservation just walked in a brought one

Hey guys,

Finally managed to get my hands on some O2 micro sims today, however they didn't have the adapters to convert it back to a normal sim. I went round all of the phone shops and also Apple, but no one had any.

Anyone here got one here, if so where did you get yours?

Thanks.

I had to get my adapter off eBay, I think it cost £3.88 including postage

Kingston Apple had some 32gb in stock today, went down and they ran out about 30 people in front of me.. never found it so hard to give some company 600 quid of my cash.

Looks like Apple over manufactured the black iPhone 4's. Cant see what all the fuss about the shortage was. CPW keeps ringing me to ask me if I wanna order one over the phone. And most o2 shops have them in stock.

Glad I didnt pull the trigger straight away, Looking forward to getting the white model in 32gb

the 'signal' issue

Has anyone tried the 'holding over the left corner' on their 3 GS iPhone? .. I did it just as I had seen in the online video for the iPhone 4 failure and my iPhone is exactly the same .. it dropped started at full signal 3G then dropped 1 bar every 6 seconds or so until it eventually flipped over to Edge and then lastly GPRS. I then held it while NOT covering the left corner and it slowly worked its way back up to full 3G signal.

I suspect the new phone is no worse than the 'old' one was

Anyone know a way to order a Voda micro sim? Ordered my contract today, so it will either be standard sim, or a double push out with the micro inside standard.

Hoping for the second ;)

I got an iPad sim then rang up and said I had a new sim would they activate this and deactivate the old one. Call cut off at the very end as old sim was deactivated, put new one in and it worked.

Was In regent street apple store today and they had sold out their stock this morning, but still had some accessories. Carphone warehouse oxford street sold out this morning on o2 but said they had some on vodaphone and won't get o2 stock until July.

Im guessing you mean go into store and get one then? I went in and it seemed like i was gonna get one, but they wanted to sign me up (I wanted to sign up online, done so today).

Im not in a huge rush, my iPhone won't be here until 19th July (my birthday no less ) or so Apple says, so i'll be putting it into a 3GS at first. Will wait and see when the Contract and sim arrive first.

Set up my Vodafone sim-only contract Thursday, and the rep said they had the micro-sims, and would activate it and send it out to me. The porting from my old T-Mobile number should happen on Monday, so I'm hoping the sim will be all ready to go by the time I get it ..... just need my phone now (hopefully, less than a week before it ships, according to the Apple Store)

who was the user on here who kept saying about crooks4u doing preorders?????

i wonder if they actually came good?????

I'd previously had a bit of a mare. Didn't pre-order (was on holiday) so attempted to queue at the Holborn O2. Was number 40 and they had 30 phones.

Again, this morning made an attempt at the Kings Road O2. Delivery turned up late and they had 30 iPhones. 10x32GB, 20x16GB. The first ten people took all the 32's.

Sacked that off decided to sit it out and went just to grab a microsim from O2 store in south west london, decided to chance it at Phones4U and they were gradually selling off those people had reserved and not collected as they said on 24th. 7 were given away as I got there. I grabbed one of the last ones, so an easy upgrade with O2 from that point on.

Their insurance offering is scandalous and pretty sure they were saying 'well you better get it as people often get mugged for theirs'. Talk about a hard sell.

Politely declined and now playing with my new phone.

FWIW if you're on O2 just upgrading, just call their upgrade line. They had plenty in stock until 3pm yesterday. CS operative was amazed they hadn't had many people calling them....

im in exactly the same boat as you, however im moving from O2.

you managed to order your microsim on the phone? i was thinking of playing it safe and waiting for my normal Vodafone sim to be connected first (on Monday) then going down to the shop and getting it swapped over to a micro sim. after being passed around so many departments on the phone a day or two ago i didnt want to risk losing my number due to some admin cock up

No I rang up and asked for a microsim, they sent me an iPad one, which I then activated as an ordinary sim. At no time did I say I wanted an iPad plan.

Worryingly, o2 are currently charging £3 per mb on payg.

Either tesco are taking off an extra 50% - or o2 are preparing an even more obscene gouge!

On contracts O2 don't charge you if you go over the 500MB limit they just slow you down to a crawl.
