I decided to give up on waiting for the 'will they won't they' from Tesco, not least because I've been on O2 for the past 2 years with an iPhone and the 3G 'service' has been patchy at best (and totally different from their coverage map claims also!)

So then phoned at 9.30am this morning .. they have no phones in stock but did the whole credit check and sign up and told me more phones are coming in all the time and most people who order are getting them in 3 or 4 days. At worst it will be 10 days (still quicker than the Apple website)

If I find something else in the meantime
I could cancel with no problem obviously but am pretty I want to give Orange a go now :)

You'd have to have another credit check remember and too many can be detrimental to your rating.

up to today, there is iphone 4 in stock in apple store in London?

I'm arriving for a quick vacation next week, i have to know the stock status of iphone 4 in london apple store..

buying unlocked from AS versus any contract

3G owner on O2 at the moment. Completed my initial contract period and switched to O2 simplicity iPhone 20 months ago, 20 quid a month, monthly rolling contract (NOT the 12 month one), unlimited data - unlimited!

My plan is to buy the unlocked iPhone4 from Regent Street - stump up £500; I'm micro-simmed up already. Job done, no contract and unlimited data. I think there might be slightly cheaper options on a new contract, but probably not much in it and this way I get the contract flexibility and unlimited data continues.

Am I making a big mishtake with my plan? Anyone know the likely position this afternoon with the regent street apple store queue? Is there one, and do they have stock?

Something interesting for those of us who have got an iphone from Tesco:

The e-mails that you receive all state that the tariff includes unlimited data. The IPhone 4 sim pack including leaflets with details about your tariff confirms that it includes unlimited data. And to top this off http://phone-shop.tesco.com/iphone-help-and-faqs/iphone-help-getting-started.aspx#26
(save it as evidence) has an iPhone 4 logo at the top and states again unlimited data. It looks like they planned to give out unlimited data and changed last minute to follow the other networks.
Maybe someone else can confirm this for me, but doesn't mean that tesco have to offer this or they will be in breach of contract, meaning you can cancel the contract and keep the phone?

You could push them to provide the offer, but their obligation is debatable.

Under no circumstance would you be able to keep the phone - if the contract is rescinded, it works from both sides

I'm a bit disappointed in myself. I'm not usually one to get desperate over something like a mobile phone, but I'm getting a bit impatient! I think it's more the challenge of getting one right now rather than a rush to just have the phone.

It's in my head now, and I can't rest until I get one.

Pathetic I know!

I got a call from Tesco on Saturday saying that my order was safe and that Tesco would be providing me a phone, although it is unlikely to be before Tuesday.

Anyone else get this, that managed to place an order with Tesco, only for it to be cancelled?

how did u manage to speak to them on phone i cant even get through

any one with a bumper feel the signal issue actually goes away, or decreases?

dont have an iphone yet, waiting for white, hopefully less issues.

I got through on Friday and placed an order. When I didn't get an email confirmation, I canlled to check the order had gone through, and was advised it had been cancelled, ultimately because of a glitch on their system, about multiple purchases.

I then got this call on Saturday. I'm not sure whether to expect another call, but Tesco are out of stock anyway

That's exactly what I did, but with the 32Gb. I could have saved a bit signing up to a 18/24 month contract as I don't use the huge number of minutes and texts I currently get but in the end the quickest route to the phone was to buy an unlocked one.

It also means this time next year I can see what Apple has up its sleeve and switch if I choose. :D

As for stock - no idea

Well, not wanting to wait in line at an O2 shop or Regent Street, I've just placed my 32GB iPhone 4 order directly through Apple. 3 weeks to go...

Also on O2 Simplicity with an unlimited data bolt-on. Not sure if this tariff will change but the O2 iPhone simplicity tariff only offers 500mb of data but unlimited wi-fi and visual voice mail.

well, its up to you how you use the iphone memory, 1200 songs 1 video and 90 apps thats all you'll get on a 16gb iphone

please, maybe someone know the stock status in london specific and in uk generally???

It looks like it is much better to buy the sim-free/unlocked from apple then go for a simplicity contract if you need to use your phone abroad. the question is...
- does the simplicity tariff include ITS
- is it possible to get pay as you go sims in europe/canada/us to stick in your iphone 4 when travelling there?

Thank you guy's, it's just I thought I remembered reading somewhere Orange had some impact on the apps you could install on the first iPhone they had. So just wanted to check.
And I only need 16GB, all I use it for is games games games :D:D Got an iPod nano for the music in the car.

And I am ignoring the football :(, also don't think the N word should have been allowed in the comment, it's our fault we lost, the Germans took all the opportunity's they were given and thoroughly deserved the win.
