I popped into Tesco earlier and asked about the new iPhone.

Me: Hi, do you have the iPhone 4 in stock?
Tesco Guy: Not at the moment, but I can take your name and number if you would like me to contact you when we do?
Me: Yes, that would be great. *At this point he takes my name, number and which model I am interested in*
Me: So when do you estimate that you will have stock in?
Tesco Guy: Well we were told that we were supposed to get the iPhone 4 delivered every day since launch, and we've had none, so could be any day really. As of now, we have around 20 people names and we will notify everyone when it arrives, which could easily be tomorrow. It is also on a first come first served basis.
Me: Thanks, bye.

As soon as I get that phone call im rushing up to my Tesco (Dunfermline branch).

Does anyone near the West Quay store know if they have bumpers in stock? Really want one to go with my iP4 but don't want to pay the stupid mark up on eBay prices and none local to me in Basingstoke that I'm aware of?

Any help is much appreciated.

I'm not terribly sure, but it might be a Tesco Extra since it got that extension on it ages ago. I never pay attention to the Tesco banner at the entrance. But yeah, they have a dedicated Mobile phone area at the back, along with TV's, Laptops, Routers, Printers, MP3 players, the whole shabang.

That is the flagship store so they are getting deliveries daily of both models. That's what a manager told me today. Will be there tomorrow, will update when I know more. :):)

pls post back availability and queue (if any). I've got a "ships by 2 jul" pre-order but I might just try to go to regents street after work or during lunch

please, maybe someone know the stock status in london specific and in uk generally???

As of 12.23am there are 17 phones available in London area
However
Why anyone would want to spend 500 on a phone and then have to stick a giant elastic band on it to make it work is beyond me

I love apple products but c'mon this is just stupid

Don't you just hate the parasitic bast**ds on eBay scrambling to make a few quid
I hope the money chokes them

exactly. ive been iPhoneless for well over a month or so now. i really looked forward to getting one until all the negative press and reviews came out. sad thing is there is no other phone out there that is on par with the iPhone in terms of usability and quality (if you can call it that). im defintely getting one but dont want to go through the hassle of returning it if there is a hardware problem. lets see how the OS4 update goes eh

Just got an Email from an Apple iPhone Technical Support Senior Advisor. I called to document my 'case' for the iPhone Signal Issues. I hold the phone a different way, so it doesn't really affect me, but if anything happens, like free Bumpers, a replacement without the problem, I would like to benefit from that so I thought I would call to make sure they knew.

She has said that she would call me in the next few days to update me on my case.

Any idea what she is going to say?

They'll no doubt say that as you're not really affected, they'll be no freebies for you!

I tested 5 phones in the West Quay, Southampton store. I had to hold the left hand side so tightly for about 2mins to see a significant drop in signal (full to 1 bar). I'm not sure it will be a problem to me as i don't intend on holding it like that anyways.

I took mine back to West Quay yesterday, I held it gently resting in my left hand on the desk so the apple guy could see it, he was telling me it wasn;t a fault with the phone and even though it did it on his phone it was just a feature of the phone.
Obviously, the signal was dropping all the time he was talking and went to no service.
There were a few in the queue who started commenting about the problem and had also had the issue.
So I challenged the guy at apple to make a phone call on my phone... he couldn't within 3 mins so as everyone started laughing at him they agreed to swap the phone.
A phone that can't make calls... great!

The replacement seems slightly better, but still pretty un-usable as a phone. I'll wait till the last day of 14 days return period and if it hasn't been fixed I'll return the phone for a refund.

i got my reserved phone from apple newcastle on launch day, i used the option to buy out existing contract and upgrade handset was £179 and existing contract was £240 however i am still on my original contract and apple havent charged me anything yet anyone else done it this way and
1) has your contract with o2 been changed
2) have apple charged your card yet

Why not order on the on-line store, ordered mine on Friday, delivered on Monday!

I went with Vodafone, which might turn out to be a mistake.

There's a lot of anger on their forums about the lack of information with regards to when anyone will ever see their phones. There are stories coming through of people receiving empty parcels, or just the sim card with their number ported across already. It would be funny if I hadn't signed up with them.

I requested a pick up at the Vodafone experience shop on Oxford street, I guessed that if anywhere would get them priority it would be that place, but having seen the chaos I think I might be a bit optimistic.

Hey guys,

This is my first post but following this forum for quite sometime. I am coming to london for a business trip from 8th to 17th july do you guys think i can get the phone from any of the apple store or should i order it right now and send it to my sisters place, she is coming back on 29th july.

A lot of you are reading into this whole issue too much.

I'm left handed, upgraded to iPhone4 on launch day and have had zero issues with the call quality or signal.

Not everybody is affected, so you might not need a 'rubber band' around it.
